This place can take a reservation but can't hold a reservation. We waited an hour to be seated after arriving on time. I went here for the first time. I came into the side entrance into the dinning area. The dinning area was very plain and neat without clutter. There was a lot of light so there's not much of an ambience. I ordered the broiled seafood combination. It was perfectly cooked. The seafood was fresh and tasty. It was not overly seasoned but still it was flavorful. I ordered a salad and a spinach side dish with my meal. The spinach was sautéd with mushrooms and was really good. I would say my meal was compatible if not better than a seafood sampler at Willie G's. It puts Red Lobster's to shame. Our server was really nice. She really made you feel comfortable and welcomed. As previous reviewer stated, the food is a step about regular bar fare. We had 2 appetizers (tuna/crab egg rolls and chicken enchillada egg rolls), both were really good. I had the pork bruschettta which was also good, but I ended up with the fried version instead of the requested sauteed. My husband had a duck cheesesteak that he enjoyed very much. Wow I was pleasantly surprised! The food was really good and I am talking vegetarian food for a bar. Mushroom and goat cheese bruschetta was fabulous. Service is extremely slow, so I always make sure to go to Flanny's when I have a good chunk of time to kill. I think this is because the food is homemade fresh and is always amazing. Was there on a Tuesday evening, we ate in the basement. Service was mediocre. Food was a little slow to come out, but they were busy so that was to be expected. Once we had our food we didn't see our waitress again until it was time for our check. My husband wanted a drink refill but we were unable to get her attention to get one. Food was good however. We both had the wings, they were very good, nice and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. They were also a decent size not those miniature ones that most restaurants overcharge for. Best wings and cheesesteaks in the Berks area. We've tried others but no others compare. Wings are naked and crisp. Hot sauce is clean and perfect. The cheesesteaks are prepared so well. Meat perfectly shredded and thoroughly mixed with gooey melted cheese. The crispest, freshest rolls. They also so much more than the usual pub fare too if you are so inclined. I was in town visiting family and at the suggestion of the hotel clerk, my family decided to give this place a try. I checked out the menu online and it looked promising. We went in and they seated us up in the bar area. We should have walked out then. There was a group at the bar who were belligerent and crude and the bartender just flirted with them and egged them on. We were not the only diners in the bar area and it made for a very uncomfortable experience. The food was so-so. I ordered a steak which, to my horror, came out already cut up. Thus, it was dried out. They forgot the dinner of one in our party and by the time it came out everyone else had finished eating. No apologies or anything. We all thought it was great that the waitress kept refilling our sodas without our asking until we learned that she charged us for all of them! That is completely unacceptable. I went here last night for just a quick bit to eat with my GF, First time ever there I only gave 1 star because of what I learned this morning, We got there and sat at a table, waitress Amy came over and took a drink order I had a PBR and she had a Vodka and pineapple, we ordered the food I had a French Dip sandwich @ $9, she ordered the Philly Cheese Steak egg rolls @ $10, we each had a 2nd drink each and then got the check, The GF looked at the check and said it looks correct, So I got out my CC to pay the bill and gave it to the waitress,signed the bill and left, This morning GF said it was a nice place we should go again and it was reasonable, I took out the CC receipt and said no way is it reasonable because for food that was $19 bucks and 2 drafts and 2 Vodka drinks my CC receipt says $ 63.70 I was in shock that those 4 drinks cost $44.00 ? As we were in a hurry to leave I guess it's on me , Just letting everyone know to beware they will rip you off as this morning the GF told me she said it was reasonable because she informed me the bill was $39 and some change, NEVER AGAIN. They need to correct this in the future, If you go pay attention I would think the management would address this situation but seems they don't care about their customers and how they do business read more

HUGE, meaty wings, probably the best in Berks county. Their bartenders are the absolute best if you know them or are a stranger passing through town. Drinks aren't expensive, seats at the bar are normally bountiful unless there's a game or live music (avoid going Friday nights if you like sitting at the bar). So I decided to give them another chance. Sat at the bar and ordered a dozen wings hot with suicide on the side and a large house salad with the house balsamic. Salad show up immediately but the wings took 30 minutes and it was not busy. Worst hot wings. They were plied on a plate and they took franks red hot and gave it about 8 squirts. So the wings just had a few shots of generic sauce here and there. The suicide sauce on the side was way too thick like a dip and had a bad smokey chipotle taste. All wrong for what should be their hottest buffalo wings. Horrible taste. Salad was sour. Bad tomatoes, some lettuce, and bitter cucumbers topped with shcredded mozzarella cheese. Shredded bagged pizza mozzarella does not belong on salads. Don't know what they are trying to do here but serving good food isn't one of them. My fault. Second time shame on me.. read more

I am writing this review as a frequent patron of this establishment , a local that has been a customer for the last 8 years. This evening a large group of friends decided that we would get some dinner and drinks here as this is typical for our friends. (We go here for each of our birthday dinners) After we ordered food we waited an hour for some of the meals to be served. We asked our waitress why it took so long for some of the meals and her response was "I don't know what happened, I don't cook the food, I don't know what to tell you" as my friend sat their surprised someone in the service industry could have such a poor attitude towards a customer, she continued to act irrationally asking "what do you want me to do" in a rude and disrespectful manor. This situation escalated pretty quickly so I asked the waitress why she is being disrespectful, she then stated she would comp the dozen wings and stormed off with an attitude and did not come back to the table for the rest of the night. As someone that works in the service industry, I'm disgusted with the way they treat customers. We will not be patronizing your business ever again and will be sure to communicate this experience as we are appalled with the way this was handled. The food is your typical pub menu and believe me not much more than wings and burgers. Ask first if head chef is working before ordering your food, if he is not present, it will be a terrible experience. They would not allow us to speak to a manager as one was not present. Did not take our info, just decided to tell us we are banned from the establishment. Horrible experience all together. This will be the last. (This was the last straw, we have had similar experiences here in the past but just let it go so this is not a one time experience) read more

Well...must have been a bad night. I ordered the Crabby Melt sandwich which was sweet crab, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese on wheat bread grilled to perfection (according to the menu). It was grilled to perfection on the top...the bottom was a different story. Charred was the color on the bottom of the sandwich. The mixed drink I got was good. Then I switched to Raspberry tea which was so watered down I couldn't believe it had as much color as it did. I got that replaced with lemonade and the same was true with that. The syrup part of the machine wasn't working properly or they are very stingy with the syrup (I am assuming the latter!) The waitress (Melissa) was running ragged downstairs by herself. They needed another server down there to help. She didn't even have time to ask how things were at our table. I don't blame her and still gave her a 17% tip. I would not recommend this place at all! It's very nice that they take reservations but I think they take this a little too far. We walked in at 5pm for an early dinner; not one table available. Their reasoning was that because they were all reserved for call-ahead reservations. Okay, I get....I didn't call ahead but you still have 12 tables open and customers not arriving for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Don't you want the business. My family left and went to another great local establishment, spent about $150 on dinner and drinks and walked out at 6:25. So, Flanagan's you lost my business....and trust me, we spend a lot when we go out because we like to enjoy drinks as well. I don't understand how you do business. I think someone in management should be aware of this and make some changes. You business is odd! These girls work for tips so you would think the more tables/customers the better. So, if you don't have a reservation, don't plan on eating there.....they won't seat you! You suck!! read more

Best bar food in Reading period. I just stumbled upon this place once and I've never stopped going back. Apparently the chef there used to work at some really nice hotel or something. Whether that's true or not I don't know but what I do know is that this hole in the wall has the most amazing wings, scallops, chowder, cheesecake, sandwiches and their house salad for some reason is amazing. Don't come to the Reading area without eating here first. Ambiance is nothing special, I get it, you're Irish, let's move on. I almost exclusively go to dive bars, people tend to be friendlier and no loud music, but they should put something other than shamrocks up. The staff have their off days as is expected with a female-only staff, I'm a girl so relax (except the cook who almost never leaves his cave) but overall they're super friendly and knowledgeable. If you can't decide on something, even if they're slammed they'll take minute to help you decide and they've never steered me in the wrong direction even though I'm a picky eater.
