    Chicken pasta
    Jeff G.

I had dined here when they first opened and things clearly got better! Bonus is, it wasn't bad the first time. The good news is they expanded or perhaps fixed the parking lot. Much better now. We went on a Wednesday evening and the bar was full but we got seated quickly. They have a nice beer offering as well as cocktails and wine. My better half wasn't a fan of her lavender honey gin drink but the server quickly and without fuss remedied that. The service was very good the whole time. The food was really quite excellent. We started with some Parmesan brussel sprouts and they disappeared fast. The shrimp and grits needed a little salt and pepper but other then that, yum yum and yum. The barría flat bread was awesome and we had chicken and pasta in a lemon basil cream sauce, simply fantastic. The place is nice, it wasn't too loud and we sat at a high top table. We had a minor issue with the bill but they fixed that too. Can't wait to try it again.

Salmon and the most literal white rice

I have never had such pitiful looking food we couldn't help but laugh. My salmon had a pile of white rice with not a single speck of flavor added to it. My guy had the filet mignon that came with a pile of wilted soggy cold spinach and the most offensively pathetic serving of fries that was somehow presented without a follow up of "It's just a prank, the camera is over there." All seven of those fries tasted somehow like air, not even like a potato. We didn't bother complaining because it's like if your kid makes you a meal and you're like oh shit I can't even get mad because I think they think they did their best. I will say that our server was great, one of the two cocktails we tried was really good, and the dessert was decadent and delicious. These photos will always give us a good laugh, at least!

This restaurant has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is very sophisticated with old city charm. It would definitely have been a spot I would have gone back to if just for the ambiance. The drinks and food were also very good. They have a very extensive cocktail list with MANY espresso martini options (my favorite). I got the hazelnut espresso martini. I was here for brunch, so for food, I got the cauliflower rice bowl. All of the flavors of this dish were balanced impeccably and my eggs were poached to perfection. Unfortunately, the reason I am giving this restaurant a lower rating is because of the service. When people go to a restaurant, especially a more classy and upscale venue, they expect great food, atmosphere and service. Our waitress was very nice, but she lacked experience. Everything was the longest wait. For her to take our order, for the drinks to come out and then the food. She forgot my drink, so that was slightly longer of a wait and then she forgot my cousin's meal entirely...which was odd because she put it into an electronic device. I do not know if it was her fault or the kitchen, but it is very uncomfortable when the whole table gets there meal and there is one person missing theirs. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I will return if they can fix their service.

    Fried gnocchi

Came on Valentine's Day. Our server was outstanding, I believe his name was Mike. Very attentive and helpful with recommendations. The ambiance was really nice as well, dim lighting which I loved. We were very excited to try state hill for the first time and I think our expectations were a little high. We started with the fried gnocchi which was delicious. Then for entrees, salmon & chicken. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the presentation was beautiful. The only mild complaint is I wish the brussels sprouts were cooked a little longer but that's a personal preference. The chicken, however, we felt was a miss. I know it's a "safe" choice but there wasn't much flavor, a little over cooked and the risotto was underdone with a lot of "sauce" pooling on the sides. Overall we enjoyed our experience and will be back to try some other options. As stated by others the seating was a bit awkward as we were seated on the end of the middle island booth & parking was challenging but that's to be expected on a holiday imo.

Let me start by saying...Mike was a great server! The food was excellent and such a beautiful atmosphere. We drank the Fall sangria and it was delicious.

These were good signs that an authentic dining experience was about to occur. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting and the staff is terrific. We enjoyed it so much we made a repeat visit the next day. We were lucky to have Maya as our server on both occasions -- what a wonderful young lady! She spent ample time with us explaining the whole menu, some local favorites and the love that the owner/chef puts into his dishes. And she checked in with us often. Excellent! We had a great time on both visits. From cocktails, appetizers, entrees and our desserts, Maya walked us through everything - so friendly and knowledgeable! We enjoyed the sampler appetizer with bruschetta, meatballs and mushroom crostini. Very good! Bread came out with our soup and salad - my wife's Lobster Bisque was very good and my house balsamic salad hit the spot. On the 2nd night we had the crostini variety, with fig, honey, prosciutto - great! For entrees, the "Sunday Gravy" dish can easily feed two - delicious! An assortment of meat simmered in their sauce with homemade pasta. My wife enjoyed that on visit #1; my son went for it on visit #2. We also enjoyed the Chicken Milanese and 'Ndunderi - delicate gnocchi in vodka sauce with small Wagyu beef meatballs baked with smoked scamorza cheese (similar to mozzarella). Excellent! Desserts included chocolate lava cake w/ ice cream and a smores-themed dish. Very good! We can't wait to visit again ! Definitely try Salute when you're in the area! Ciao!

My husband and I assessed Austin's differently. He ordered prime rib which he said was nothing short of perfect. Cooked medium rare as requested, tender, juicy -- he savored every bite. I scanned the menu. Nothing jumped out at me. (I generally don't gravitate to steakhouse-type restaurants.) I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs. My point of comparison is Longhorn's which offers more of a bang-for-a-buck, and in my opinion better tasting ribs. Not to say that Austin's aren't good. They are. Based on the popularity of Austin's, it's clear management knows what they're doing. But I think a small salad and baked potato should be available with the price of the entree -- not worth the extra $7 I was going to be charged. The salad is listed as 'field greens,' -- which it's not -- but reading the menu you'll see they mean iceberg and romaine. The salad was good, enhanced by their garlic ranch dressing. We washed down our meals with well-priced drinks: merlot ($8.90) and Blue Moon ($6.90), then splurged on dessert. Austin's flourless double chocolate brownie a la mode is very rich. One order for two adults is plenty. Austin's is aptly described as a family restaurant. A lot of kids. A lot of noise. Service is friendly and on-the-ball. While not my kind of restaurant, if prime rib is your thing -- this could be the place!

Problem was the service or lack thereof . After we were seated and handed on menus by the hostess, it took 10 minutes for the waitress Makayla E to show up and introduce herself. Then after the main course was delivered, she never checked back with us to see if we're enjoying our food. Basically myself and my dad were pretty much ignored. Worse yet. We got to observe the middle-aged manager with a ponytail yell at two of these staff. One was our waitress, and the other was a young African-American gentleman. Instead of doing it in his office in private, he chose to do it in the bar where my dad and I could hear the whole conversation. Apparently the ponytailed manager was complaining that $34 was missing from the register and he wanted to know which one of them had been in the register. Totally unprofessional for a "manager "to have this conversation in earshots of the guest. The final straw. Not only did our waitress ignore us but The ponytail manager walked back-and-forth past our table multiple times without once saying hello or seeing if we are enjoying our meal. Overall, food was good. Service was horrible disrespectful to ignore your guest. Never going back.

I'll be honest, I didn't know much about this place going in, but I'm really glad I went and I'll definitely be back. Walking in, the first thing you'll notice is a beautiful, large fish tank built right into the wall on your right. The restaurant is dim and upscale-feeling, but still very family-friendly and not loud or overstimulating, so you can actually have a conversation. They have both booths and tables, and the space is very open and spread out. As a parent, you can even strategically seat your family in view of the fish tank or the windows to give the kids something to look at. It's great for a casual family dinner, a date night, or even a birthday celebration. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with no ramps, you can roll right in to your table. It's located in a plaza but set apart, so parking was never an issue. Plenty of spots, including handicap parking up front with just a short walk to the entrance. They have a solid variety on the menu including alligator bites, burgers, pasta, salads, and more. It is on the higher end price wise. Most entrees start around $14 and up, and even the kids meals begin at $8.90. The cocktail menu is extensive and the dessert menu is worth a look too. They also have a lunch menu where prices vary a bit more favorably. I ordered the Coastal Cheddar cheeseburger burger with no tomatoes and it was excellent. Very fresh, well seasoned, and served with shoestring fries that were equally on point. They also bring out a ciabatta loaf with butter to start, which was a really nice touch. Food came out quickly (always a plus). The staff is genuinely incredible. There's a tag team mentality where anyone on the floor can help you, refill your drink, or check on your table. My server was very attentive, and even when they got busy someone always stepped in. No reservations needed, at least when I went which was on a Sunday around 1pm. Highly recommend!

My favorite was the Lobster Bisque. It was creamy and deliciously balanced. The clam chowder tasted like "old soup" as per my daughter's review. It was OK, but did taste like it was canned and therefore we didn't eat more than a few spoonfuls of it. (The crab and lobster soups were gone.) We both thoroughly enjoyed the gator bites. They were well prepared and very tender. My daughter enjoyed stated that she was surprised it reminded her more of chicken than what she had expected. The dipping sauce added a nice touch and was not too peppery or spicy. It was well balanced. The seafood gnocchi was filling and flavorful. My daughter enjoyed it and had enough leftover for another meal the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed my lobster roll and ate the whole thing. There was an abundance of fries, which I did not eat. They were good, but did have a bit more of a greasiness than I prefer. The drinks were typical Coke products, which wait staff were attentive to keeping filled. The ambiance is a great place for a casual quality meal with family, friends, work colleagues, or a date. The salt water tank in the "lobby" is always nice to look at. The place is always clean and well maintained. The booths are spacious and you can talk comfortably without being crowded by other patrons. I love this place because the food is always good and the atmosphere is calming with the dim lighting.
