Texas Tenders w/ Garlic Whipped Potatoes & "Meaty" Baked Beans (so generous u can't see the sides).
Jennifer H.

I've eaten at Austin's for almost 3 decades. Over the years I've passed judgement on everything from the dark interrior & heavy salt use, to up-charges, NEVER changing menu, & disappearance of fav dishes over plate costs. As it turns out, Austin's is a beacon of trust & reliability in the ever disappointing, disappearing, & decaying landscape of the restaurant business. Their unapologetic commitment to consistency, formula, & "if it ain't broke don't fix it" has built a following large enough to keep those giant booths filled every day. Who knew delivering generous portions of American Classics the same way EVERY SINGLE VISIT would hold people's attention for 30 years. Not alot of shrink flation or tinkering w/ nouveau trends, just a massive plate of chicken tendies that rivals any version out there. Austin's is the calm in the storm. Great food, generous portions, reliable service. Check out the famed Baked Potato Soup, Texas Tenders, Ribs, Crab Alfredo Pasta, or like Elaine from Seinfeld, the big salads!

Went to Austin's for my birthday and it did not disappoint. The place is dark and dim in the best way; clean, cozy, and gives off a diner vibe but with some class. Our server was super nice and knew the menu like the back of their hand. I started with the crab corn chowder and honestly... it might be the best soup I've ever had. Creamy, flavorful, and the crab wasn't overpowering at all. I could eat that over and over. For my entrée, I had the steak, mashed potatoes, and string beans. Everything was solid. The potatoes weren't my fave, but still pretty good. Overall, a great spot and a perfect birthday dinner. I'll be back for sure. 10/10 Recommend

I have a review from 9 years ago, but this place still holds up. Incredible food, reasonable prices, service is excellent. I wish I had some better adjectives to describe this restaurant. High quality food and high quality staff. It is an excellent combination. Well managed and worthy of five stars.

I was really impressed by this place. It is not cheap but you get a good meal and good service. I had the shrimp pasta and it had incredible flavor with some good size shrimp in it. Also had the cheesesteak egg rolls for an appetizer and they were amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and kept our drinks full. I would without a doubt come back here.

Baby Back Ribs, Garlic Whipped Potatoes, Cinnamon Apples

Everything was just eh! Service was kind and friendly, but didn't stop by often to check. Ambiance is nice, though as others mentioned, it was dark. They gave us a huge booth for just the three of us, and that was nice. Food was good, but nothing superb. None of our food was very hot, though it was all cooked. Baked potato was barely room temperature. Crab and artichoke dip was very crab heavy. We went on a Sunday so our child could eat free, and that was about the biggest perk. It was all just fine-- not great and not bad. We'll continue to try other places first before returning here.

This a great spot for a special occasion or just a good meal out. I love the old school dark Sinatra era decor and music. The booths are super comfortable and big enough for 4-6 people We come for lunch a lot and you can order off the lunch or the regular menu. This visit I went with the soup and salad combo. The lobster bisque is the best I have ever had I think. There was a LOT of fresh lobster meat served on top. The salad was fresh mixed greens. We got a loaf of their bread which was a bit dry today but usually is really a great addition to the meal. This is a shared service restaurant which usually means you get a lot of fast service. Our section was very busy and was double sat with a large party and a four top so I think that just threw things off a little bit. Austin's is a great place for friends and family to get together no matter the occasion. I will definitely be back!

Ask the Community - Austin's Restaurant & Bar

Are you open for Christmas?

No, we are not.

We're thinking of going out a few days late for our anniversary, but it will be on the evening of Halloween. Do they do anything for Halloween? We'd rather avoid that vibe if we can...

We don't do anything for Halloween. We do close at 9pm. We do have some seasonal drinks that are Pumpkin related on our feature menu.

Are you open Easter Sunday 4/17/22?

Yes we are. 11-7:30. We are talking reservations so please call 610-678-5500 if you are interested in making one.

Unable to get through phone line , busy ? Is there another line to call to place takeout?

Please keep trying to call. We only have four lines and lots of people calling but it’s not real busy right now so you should be able to get through. 610-678-5500 is the number you should be calling. I hope you get through

Is outdoor seating with heaters available?

It sure is!!

Is the dinner menu available all day or does it only begin at 4PM?

Everything we offer on the menu is available day and night. All you have to do is ask. Austins is pretty awesome with any requests you could imagine.

This time, hostess seemed to have some type of problem deciding where to put us and then took us to the left into what I would call a cocktail lounge. Ok, not going to make a stink on our anniversary. We were put at a large circular table up higher off the ground. And the chairs - or stools more correctly - also of course higher. Let me add, we are both over 80. Still in reasonable good health, but if people came in who used maybe canes or who had more mobility problems, don't know where they would be put. If they fell off a stool, State Hill could have one heck of a lawsuit. The hostess tossed our menus on the table and without another word, left. The waiter came by quickly - a low talker, nice guy but could hardly hear him. We both ordered Mediterranean chicken and my wife got a salad (a very big one it was). Food came promptly, all at one time - the salad with both our dinners. So does my wife eat the salad first and let her food sit and get cold or the food first and then the salad for dessert? (We ended up taking the salad home.) The chicken was, well, chicken. Tasteless chicken at that. And broccolini, which is best described as an unsightly, tasteless (like the chicken), barely edible vegetable. Does the nicer dining room still exist? I don't know - did not think to look as we left. But doesn't matter. We won't be back. About $100 + $20 tip (other than being a low talker, the waiter was nice.) And 3% was added to our bill for using a credit card. Note to management - just raises your prices 3%. Putting it on the bill just doesn't look cool. And teach your service people that salads come first unless otherwise requested. Tell the one male waiter to speak up. And if the nicer dining room is till there, put people there if they are there for their anniversary, not in a cocktail lounge (aka sports bar). Or at least say online that the lounge is all you have.

We got to observe the middle-aged manager with a ponytail yell at two of these staff. One was our waitress, and the other was a young African-American gentleman. Instead of doing it in his office in private, he chose to do it in the bar where my dad and I could hear the whole conversation. Apparently the ponytailed manager was complaining that $34 was missing from the register and he wanted to know which one of them had been in the register. Totally unprofessional for a "manager "to have this conversation in earshots of the guest. The final straw. Not only did our waitress ignore us but The ponytail manager walked back-and-forth past our table multiple times without once saying hello or seeing if we are enjoying our meal. Overall, food was good. Service was horrible disrespectful to ignore your guest. Never going back.

I'll be honest, I didn't know much about this place going in, but I'm really glad I went and I'll definitely be back. Walking in, the first thing you'll notice is a beautiful, large fish tank built right into the wall on your right. The restaurant is dim and upscale-feeling, but still very family-friendly and not loud or overstimulating, so you can actually have a conversation. They have both booths and tables, and the space is very open and spread out. As a parent, you can even strategically seat your family in view of the fish tank or the windows to give the kids something to look at. It's great for a casual family dinner, a date night, or even a birthday celebration. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with no ramps, you can roll right in to your table. It's located in a plaza but set apart, so parking was never an issue. Plenty of spots, including handicap parking up front with just a short walk to the entrance. They have a solid variety on the menu including alligator bites, burgers, pasta, salads, and more. It is on the higher end price wise. Most entrees start around $14 and up, and even the kids meals begin at $8.90. The cocktail menu is extensive and the dessert menu is worth a look too. They also have a lunch menu where prices vary a bit more favorably. I ordered the Coastal Cheddar cheeseburger burger with no tomatoes and it was excellent. Very fresh, well seasoned, and served with shoestring fries that were equally on point. They also bring out a ciabatta loaf with butter to start, which was a really nice touch. Food came out quickly (always a plus). The staff is genuinely incredible. There's a tag team mentality where anyone on the floor can help you, refill your drink, or check on your table. My server was very attentive, and even when they got busy someone always stepped in. No reservations needed, at least when I went which was on a Sunday around 1pm. Highly recommend!

It was creamy and deliciously balanced. The clam chowder tasted like "old soup" as per my daughter's review. It was OK, but did taste like it was canned and therefore we didn't eat more than a few spoonfuls of it. (The crab and lobster soups were gone.) We both thoroughly enjoyed the gator bites. They were well prepared and very tender. My daughter enjoyed stated that she was surprised it reminded her more of chicken than what she had expected. The dipping sauce added a nice touch and was not too peppery or spicy. It was well balanced. The seafood gnocchi was filling and flavorful. My daughter enjoyed it and had enough leftover for another meal the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed my lobster roll and ate the whole thing. There was an abundance of fries, which I did not eat. They were good, but did have a bit more of a greasiness than I prefer. The drinks were typical Coke products, which wait staff were attentive to keeping filled. The ambiance is a great place for a casual quality meal with family, friends, work colleagues, or a date. The salt water tank in the "lobby" is always nice to look at. The place is always clean and well maintained. The booths are spacious and you can talk comfortably without being crowded by other patrons. I love this place because the food is always good and the atmosphere is calming with the dim lighting.

I requested an ice water and ordered the Shrimp Parm with Spaghetti ($14.99 plus tax) with choice of one side (chose mac & cheese) and garlic toast. The food came out in 12 minutes after I ordered. The portion of food was good which was comprised of 8 breaded jumbo shrimp topped with red sauce & melted cheese with a side of soft cooked spaghetti with a sweet meat sauce. The mac & cheese (orange) was very dense and rich. The thick slices of garlic toast were soft and buttery. After I was done, the check was brought over which was $15.89 with tax and before tip. I paid at the front register. Overall, the food I had was fantastic and I was a bit torn whether to choose a pasta dish or a traditional country homestyle meal. The shrimp parm was very tasty and hot as was the mac & cheese. The service was friendly and adequate. I was glad I stopped here instead of going to a smorgasbord restaurant, which was very packed and pricey. The meal I had at Ark House Diner was pretty reasonable.
