Fun restaurant and bar in the Reading, PA area! My friends and I were traveling through Pennsylvania and we wanted dinner, a place to watch a football game, and good food/beer. We found Brewer's on Yelp and and were very happy with our visit. Brewer's had a local feel to do it and a lively atmosphere for a Thursday night. The food menu has a large selection of different types of food so almost anyone can find something to eat. Great selection of beer with a lot of regional offerings. Also seem to run a special for different types of alcohol for most nights of the week ($6 large draft IPA beer on Thursday night). I ordered the brisket meatloaf sandwich that came with BBQ sauce and gouda cheese on top. The sandwich was very tasty and I especially enjoyed the pretzel roll it was served on. I liked that I was able to substitute a side of perogies instead of chips. The moon ranch grilled chicken sandwich was a little underwhelming and the moon sauce was the only positive to that sandwich. The service was good and our server checked back in with us multiple times during our visit. There's also a beer outlet with a large selection of craft beer attached to the restaurant so you can take local craft beer home with you. We have eaten here a few times over the years and have had positive experiences. However, we went there last night and had a poor experience. Our waitress, who chose to wear air pods, was crass and impolite. She was sarcastic in a negative way towards one of the members in my party about their drink choice. She also stunk of heavy cigarette smoke and was coughing all over the place. The food was nothing special - just standard bar food. However, the prices here are outrageous! Unfortunately, it's just not worth going here when I can go elsewhere and get a real meal, not just bar food. I'm actually sad that I have to leave a negative review. In the men's bathroom, the sink has next to no water pressure and they were out of soap. I wonder how the employees wash their hands... To resemble such an antiquated pub, Brewer's Bar and Grill was a very good dining experience. Specializing in craft beer, American pub food, and cocktails, I must say they food, drinks, and customer service was good. For food, of course the chicken wings are their staple food and the quality is good. They have a standard of allowing you to choose multiple wing sauces for wing orders of 10 or more. This is great because it doesn't restrict you to one flavor for large orders of wings. The burgers, pasta, and salads are also very good. My server was very helpful and exercised very friendly customer service. Overall a good experience. I will visit again when in West Reading, PA. read more

As far as local eateries go, it would be tough to beat Brewer's Bar and Grill. On a recent trip to Reading, my family went back and forth on where to have dinner for the last night of our stay. It was between Brewer's and a popular chain restaurant. Let's see what good places there are around here, I argued in my final push to find a local spot. We were greeted by a warm ambiance of mirth, as the Steelers-Eagles game was on half of the TVs around which the bar was centered. The atmosphere was lively and the staff friendly. Immediately, we could tell it was the real deal, as the menu offered such local fare as pork and sauerkraut for New Year's, the regional favorite scrapple and an amazing, giant hot pretzel served with spicy brown mustard. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The kids got their cold drinks right away, and the beer selection was on-point. Our order was delicious throughout: mozzarella sticks, a cheeseburger, chicken tenders, a giant pretzel and a grilled chicken sandwich. (The kids also got menus they could color and crayons to keep them busy.) The entire atmosphere was a blast, and it would've been a great place to have a few more beers! read more

Me and my colleague stopped by here the other day and had a great time. Big man Jordan was our server and he made it a great experience. We gave him shit and he dished it back. The food was great and so was the service However, I stopped by again before I left town and although everyone was nice when I walked in, the service from my waitress was horrible, I almost walked out after she walked away when I was trying to order something. It was like I was inconveniencing her by wanting to eat here. She had the hatefulness in her tone and I should have left but I was hungry. I ordered a beer and although was ready to order she walked away before I could stop her. By the looks of it she was pregnant but it didn't stop her from helping others at the bar. She must have known them but every time I tried to get her attention she gave me the FU look. The previous night we had at least 6 large beers and water between the two of us for the meal but I was barely able to get a glass of water when my meal came. She often sat at the table in the front and only once asked me how the meal was, and that was when I was almost finished. She asked if I wanted another beer but at this time I was ready to leave. She eventually brought my bill but dropped it on the table and walked away. Never said anything nice or inviting to return. I paid the bill but gave her a $2.00 tip. I should have kept it and gave it to the others but that's not my style. I would have given this place a much higher rating based on the great time with Jordan but it only takes one person to ruin the experience. The chipotle blue cheese wings were the best I have ever tasted. I never tasted an amazing wing sauce like that before. The wings were drenched in sauce and somehow still crispy. They were excellent. Really good neighborhood joint. The service was above average. The death sauce wings were far from death, but were crisp and had good flavor. The pizza was good, however, for the size and topping distribution over priced at almost $12.00. They have my favorite beer, Modello Especial on tap. Served with a lime in a 20 glass was a plus. I've come to this restaurant 5 times and there never was an issue about not being 21. I partially understand but the level of disrespect we received was extremely uncalled for and disappointing. The host was nice, the server was absolutely over the top for no reason. I'm a consumer who's eaten here before and wants to give it my business, not street trash. The food is extremely good. I would leave less than one star if I could. Upon trying to enter the establishment on one of the hottest days of the year, the bouncers who had a horrible disposition, and were ogling women walking by; turned a friend and I away for wearing tank tops. When the heat was brought up- 3 bouncers showed up with the intention to intimidate. I will never be eating at this establishment again, as I believe it was a homophobic backed interaction. My friend and I are both gay men, and both of us were asked to leave to change our shirts. I would have been happy to; but it's the way in which I was spoken to that I am appalled by. We where a whole group of about 17 walking in out of nowhere and 2 couples are business owners in the food/beverage industry. We all noticed she never gave an attitude about a sudden crowd. So I pull into the hotel next door and the sign for this place catches my eye. That's a bit of an understatement because my last name is "Brewer." As you might expect it was mandatory that I stop in. I'm delighted that I did as this is a great neighborhood bar! It's no surprise that the place was nicely busy. All the pieces are in place for a good time- * A large square bar with plenty of TVs. * Seats around the perimeter if bar stools aren't your thing. * I love that they have a TouchTunes juke box so I can play songs from my smart phone app. * A separate entrance and room for take-out beer. * Non-smoking. Two aspects of this place deserve elaboration. The first is the excellent food. This is bar food at its best. These folks do not pretend to be a gastro pub. We're talking classic bar food but done very, very well. I tried the IPA Steak for $7.99. It gets the name because it includes Dogfish 60 Minute IPA mustard along with mushrooms, roasted peppers, and provolone. It was outstanding. Next is the beer list. Unless you live under a rock you know that the craft beer craze is in full swing. I travel a great deal and I've visited dozens of places that have dozens of taps. That's great but these folks go the other way. They have a few taps but they are nothing a beer aficionado like me dreams about. The amazing thing here is the bottle list of over 200 eclectic beers. The list is beautifully organized and it's easy to pick your poison. There were many beers here that I have never seen before. I was in heaven! Check out their list online. Horrible service. Everyone that works there is rude and unwelcoming to customers. I walked in to see a sign that said "wait to be seated". There was no host. I stood there for a few minutes and eventually went to the bar to see if I could get a seat. The bartender (who was not busy) was visibly annoyed that I asked him if I could get a table. He made a bunch of condescending remarks which I laughed off as sarcasm but he did get me a table. Food was atrocious. Period. Next night I went back with a group of 6 for drinks. It was the only place open and across from our hotel. Same situation. No one at the host stand. A party of 6 of us stood at the door waiting for almost 5 minutes. I approach the same bartender. He was more belligerent than the night before. As if he was ready to fight me for asking him nicely if we could be seated. When we finally got a host, they looked confused and annoyed. They didn't think they could accommodate 6 of us. Meanwhile, there was a 6 top with one guy eating at the table and 5 empty seats. It turned out, he was "security" at the bar. Still "on duty" but eating his lunch at a table and denying paying customers a spot. He finally got the hint and figured he should move. Then he proceeded to glare at us the entire time we spent our money there. Also, the waitress was annoyed and messed up all 6 orders. (We all ordered beer). If you find yourself hungry and thirsty and this place is the only thing open.... You're better off going hungry for the night. One star is too many for this place. read more

I always support local businesses and when I have friends in town I always try to share with them the positive West Reading experience in dining, eating and shopping. Sat 2.12.22 took company to Brewers for brews n food. Upon entering the bar was full and there was one high top available, greeted by a frumpy waitress I asked if we could have the high top she snapped " I'm not setting three people at a six seat table" ... she pointed us to the side room which we had no issue with. She gave us menus and said she be back. We chatted and decided what we wanted ... a couple minutes later she passed us and stopped at a table to chat with them then went out the other exit to the bar area. Again a few minutes later a friend of hers comes in and sits at the table behind us, she chats with her about her asthma attack she had earlier then disappeared again, we looked at each other and started discussing our other options. She appeared at the other end of the room through the bar started talking to a couple at that table, she made eye contact with us, but never came over or gestured to us. After waiting over 10 minutes we got up and walked down to the Third n Spruce Drafthouse... where we had several brews and appetizers. The owner even chatted with us a recommended some new brews. I always try and support local businesses ( during the pandemic when places were closed I ordered takeout from Brewers often ) and introduce visiting friends to our local flavors, but Brewers left a bad taste in our visitors mouth. read more

I went late with friends on a Saturday night and there were no seats. Party people were there so it was fun to watch. The hot sauce for the chicken wings is legit. Try it. The mark of a great restaurant is the ability to produce consistent quality. The environment here is divey, but fun. It's a perfectly good vibe to grab a beer and eat pub food. The cheese, chips, and chili all clearly came from a big bag from Sysco. The app lacked distinctive flavors and the toppings were not particularly fresh. Since then I've come to get some beer from the nice large selection in the to go section. Tonight I wanted a good cheesesteak. The food came out exceptionally fast. Cheesteak: The roll was nice and soft. The steak was very dry. Had absolutely no seasoning. Not even salt and pepper. It was just a plain dry flavorless sandwich. Nacon cheese fries: The fries themselves are those pathetic shoestring fries. They give you a full basket full. They are covered in a load of what seems like bacon bits and about a slice of deli mozzarella cheese. More disappointment. So I went to put ketchup on THEM (which I never do) to give them flavor ... the ketchup bottle is empty splattering all over the place.
