This is a really fun place to go with a group of friends! There are so many fun activities to do, and the line dancing is a fun new activity! However, it seems odd to charge a cover, the drink prices are high enough it doesn't feel necessary to be charging a cover, and other places like Pins or breweries which have activities don't charge a cover. read more

I've played at Flannagan's for several years since before the COVID pandemic. It's a great place for drinks and volleyball with chill vibes. They also have concerts every now and then, usually country. The drinks are cheap. The volleyball league offers Beer A, Beer B, athletic, 4's, 6's, co-ed, etc. It's a lot of fun and a great community to be in. It's also easy to communicate with Serena if you need anything or have questions. I would highly recommend checking Flannagan's out! read more

It is a large place with lots of sand volleyball, outdoor area, bar and dancing area. It was cute, everyone seemed to know how to dance really well and the bar tender was nice. It just was not my cup of tea - per se because I am more of a sit down, chill or play games that do not require athleticism but it was still a cute place nonetheless. I came to Flannagan's Dublin first time for their volleyball league a few summers ago. It was fun back then, my buddy Steve organized the team and we just played against many other teams who signed up for summer league volleyball. Then I decided well lets check out the bar scene, it has to be fun during New Year's so I got tickets for New Year's at Flannagan's it was alright. Dead at first but then people starting flowing in for the drinks and a good time. Also you can't compare bar food because you know what to expect when you are getting there. Pizza, wings, etc. The music was at least better than last years scene I went to. None of that boring Frank Sinatra stuff. This is current top hits and everything a young heart would love to listen to on New Years. If your looking for a bar with good music and fun times look no further than Flannagan's Dublin. They are mostly known well for the St. Patrick's Day celebration which we are going to try to make this year as well. So what are you waiting for? Flannagan's is such a fun place for so many different reasons. I've played indoor and outdoor sand volleyball, been to concerts (indoor & outdoor), and have also just enjoyed it as a bar. It's a big place with 10 outdoor sand volleyball courts, 6 indoor courts, and a sports bar. It's well run, not only in their sand volleyball leagues, but also as a bar, and concert venue. I've never had any issues with any of the events that I've been apart of there. I always have a good time and always come back. It's a great place for family and friends and there's always something fun going on whether it's during the week or on the weekend. I will continue to play in the sand volleyball leagues here and am always on the lookout for the next concert! There is a huge outside sand volleyball court, outside pool with a swimup bar in the middle, upstairs section with a bar, inside seating with a long standing bar. Customer Service: While I enjoyed this place for the Red White Country concert there wasnt much of customer service. I am not sure if the food trucks that were there during the event but being that there were only 2 food trucks, one only served food the other only served drinks. Standing in line was horrendous. Paying extra money for VIP tickets to be pool side was not worth it - it rained, and employees/security were allowing people who did not have VIP wrist bands on to come in. Lets stick with something you are pros at.... volleyball and st. paddy days parties. You know nothing about pools! Being a CPO (Certified Pool Operator, I swear this is real) for over 8 years and working at a pool in the OBX, it is my professional opinion that it is a terrible idea to have a pool in the middle of a bar that is 80% sand. Lets think about this.....Imagine all the sand that will be in the pool. it will be clumped in the corners and hard to get areas. In a few short days, maybe hours depending on the day, there will be a very large amount of sand in the pool. Given the filters they have are probably high pressure sand filters it wont make a bit of difference. Now onto the sanitary aspect.... sweaty, drunk people... They pool clarity will be a huge issue. People's sweat/dead skin/dirt will sit on top of the water and will turn into pool scum. Gross! Which in turn will make the pool very cloudy. Not to mention on the people peeing in it. I know I wouldn't want to get out just to take a leak. True pee is sanitary coming out but no one wants to be sitting next to a guy/girl at the pool bar and all of a sudden hit a warm spot. Over priced and pathetic customer service. Asked a guy to delay my pizza order by 15 minutes so I could finish my volleyball game and meet up with the pizza roughly on time. This puts the order in as soon as I placed the order. I asked him again to please wait 15 minutes but he assured me the kitchen was behind and all was good. Well, the pizza was ready 10 minutes later and I still had 20 minutes of play left... I went in and asked him why the pizza was ready already and he replied with I can place it under the heat lamp for you. I walked away frustrated and when I returned he told the manager I slammed the pager down and was being an ass. This is definitely not true and very upsetting. Went to Flannagan's on the 4th of July for the Cole Swindell concert. The owner, management and event staff are seriously looking at getting sued for unsafe conditions. They are clearly serving visibly intoxicated people who are well beyond thinking clearly. As a result they are putting both themselves and others in danger of being harmed. We witnessed everything from fights to women being sexually harassed, to women openly using the men's room. Probably the worst of it was when Cole Swindell took the stage. DO NOT STAND below and in front of the 2nd story balcony. You will be barraged with beer bottles and a multitude of other items from the 2nd floor. I watched as numerous people complained to the event staff and absolutely nothing got done about it. On at least 5 occasions within 20 feet of us I saw people hit with stuff and staff was notified to no avail. The staff are either inept or ambivalent to the entire situation as absolutely nothing was done about it. I can give several simple solutions. Place staff along the upper rail and throw out anyone throwing any object over the railing. Place netting between the roof and upper railing to prevent people from throwing objects or dumping liquids on people below. Finally if you are so intoxicated you are a danger to yourself or others you should be thrown out. When someone gets hit in the head with a full beer bottle, gets injured in a fight, or sexually assaulted, the owners, management and staff are going to be in serious trouble. And today, they raised drink prices and also started not including the tax in the price. So, prices basically gone up 30% in one week. And no increase in value. I went to Flanagan's for an EDM concert, and it was an absolutely amazing night! The staff was incredibly kind and professional. They were like a well oiled machine. We wanted to meet one artist so much, but it didn't look like he was going to come out. We randomly ended up talking to the owners of Flannagan's, and they did everything they could to help us meet the artist! In just a few short minutes, we got to meet the person we came to see. Filled with brahs and... ladies, you'll find this place bumping nearly every night of the summer. This is, my brahs and ladies, because of the summer volleyball league. We're talking Top Gun-esque semi-indecent shirtless people. Haven't seen Maverick or Iceman out here yet, but I've seen several impersonators. Nailed it for the volleyball and clothing requirements. Booze is easy: does Flannagan's have it? Yep. Moving along. Luckily for our spring break aspirations, there may be a HIGH probability of catching something if you go into the pool that is at Flannagan's. I mean, we've already talked about the clientele. Plus, I've heard you need a membership to go into the pool. You know these people are serious if they've bought memberships. At a bar. In Ohio. To go to a pool. I've been coming to Flannagan's for years to play volleyball. However, it's not really a place that I would frequent if it wasn't for the volleyball leagues. I do applaud them for adding more volleyball courts, as well as a swimming pool (which I would never be caught dead in). Clearly, they know their crowd. A lot of the patrons here are kind of douchey, but hey, can't win them all. The staff here usually seems pretty lackadaisical, but they make some damn good pizza, so there's that. With a name like Flannagan's, of course you would expect three things 1. Beach Volleyball 2. Pizza 3. Calzones This place delivers on all three. Close your eyes, plug your nose, hum "Danny Boy," and you just might think you're in Ireland. All sarcasm aside, I experienced the worst customer service ever at this place. Walking in, my expectations were not too high. I can usually excuse a little lack of manners or attention in a nice, lively bar, but this was ridiculous. My friends and I just wanted to get some food and drinks, catch a bit of the game on TV, and maybe even watch some of the volleyball outside. It seemed like a great setup, but a bar is about so much more than the physical space. I walked up to the bar, was completely ignored for two minutes while two bartenders joked around with a patron. When one guy finally acknowledged me (very little eye contact) I told him we'd like a pizza. The patron joked "we don't have pizzas" (I had already looked at the menu). The other bartenders laughed and went back to completely ignoring me. One of them even whipped out a cell phone to start texting someone. We walked out. Unless you're part of the volleyball crowd, don't waste your time. What a waste of a bar. I found it odd.. not that a beach party is odd for people who love the autumn and haunting but just that it was still chilly and though the pool was heated it was still cool to me. I'm shocking myself by giving Flannagan's four stars, but the high points just can't be ignored! I've come to love summer volley ball leagues. I look forward to our games, and it feels good to have a space to compete (in the most laid-back sense of the word) outdoors. It's fun to see the rest of Columbus kicking back and kicking up sand, being active and hanging out with friends steeped in team camaraderie. Flannagan's, at first blush, is a top-40 douchey meat market plopped in the middle of strip malls and big box stores. But, when you admit to yourself that you love top 40 and it's easy to get to, then Flannagan's starts to become kind of charming. You couldn't pay me to go in the pool, but it's there if that's your thing. There's really nothing else like it in Columbus. Compared to the only other organized sand volleyball facility I've been to, the VolleyPark (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sequoia-pro-bowl-and-the-volleypark-columbus#hrid:iYRE74PJKjsmxk6AFai_Gw), Flannagan's has much more of a party vibe. You'll need to show your 21+ ID right away, at the gate. The bar is bigger, the crowd is rowdier. The courts are a little smaller (not as much space around the in-bounds), but there's more of them. This place is perfect for a mid-week (or beginning of the week) pick-me-up. You might even trick yourself into thinking you're on vacation with a bunch of friends instead of chilling at Sawmill and 270 on an otherwise lameo Tuesday night. The only thing going for it is volleyball and you kick the volleyballers out. Makes a lot of sense, right? My boss and I had a late flight into Ohio and we weren't left with many food choices aside from fast food. We weren't expecting to find anything at 11pm on a Wednesday night. We were driving down the street and saw huge, bright lights and tons of people playing sand volleyball. Wow. This was crazy! I was completely amazed, there were volleyball courts, indoor and outdoor tables for eating and drinking...completely packed at 11pm...in Columbus. Haha There are 13 sand volleyball courts in total. All full with guys and scantily clad girls playing games all through night. I believe this place closes at 2am on some nights. We ordered food and drinks in the huge indoor bar. The indoor area even had a dance floor and a few pool tables. I'll return to Flannagan's since I'm not sure what else there is to do in Columbus at night. I've been here a handful of times and I keep going back with friend's. They have a great St. Patrick's Day celebration and a fun pool bar for the summer. I especially enjoy their pool bar and really wish we had one in Cincinnati! It's fun to get a cabana with some friends, enjoy the dj, and just pretend like you are on vacation for the day. Bottom Line: Best place for Sand Volleyball in Columbus. Unfortunately, after that I don't think they have much to offer - but they are trying I suppose. Let's start with the good. If you're a fan of sand volleyball, you'll be a fan of Flannagan's Dublin. They have I think 8-10 courts (are you kidding me!!). I can think of no other bar in Columbus with more than 5.--but if there is, please tell me! The leagues are fun and fairly priced and most people who play in the recreational leagues are just that - not overly competitive, which is good. They do offer competitive leagues if you are looking for someplace to get out aggression. The bar itself is pretty big and the enormous outdoor seating area surrounding the courts make this a pretty good destination for a summer night out. The not so good? Let's talk about beer prices. Wayyy to high. $6-7 for draft yuingling, $5 for miller light? You can drop some serious cash in a hurry. **TIP: Go across the street to draught house before volleyball league games and save a lot of money!** The pizza is noticeably better than it was about a year ago, but still not much better than bar pizza. I have never tried out the new elly bay pool, which includes a swim up bar. It's pretty small and just feels sleazy - who starts making out in a public pool on a Monday night? - not sure to be disappointed in Flannagans or the "jersey shore" Columbus-ites. Either way, I'm not getting in the pool anytime soon. But I will be playing volleyball here for many Columbus summers to come! read more

Playing volleyball at Flannagan's has been something I have looked forward to every summer for the past 8+ years. Unfortunately it is no longer the best place to play sand volleyball. This year it doesn't seem as crowded and really not as much fun. They are now allowing children in so the atmosphere has changed. Maybe that doesn't bother some people but to me I go to hang out at a bar not a family restaurant. I have had to wait several times while a toddler was playing in the area where you wash the sand off of your feet. Cute kid but shouldn't be playing in the dirty water ..and yes the mother was standing there. My new favorite place to play is at the Woodlands Backyard in Grandview. The Place: Flannagan's is HUGE. There are maybe 20-or-so plastic table and chair sets outside on the massive patio, and 10-or-so tables inside. The bar has 20-or-so stools. The patio is directly outside the bar, and right next to the beach volleyball area. Another cement patio area is located to the east of the building. It's sometimes used for cornhole, sometimes used for other things (outdoor concerts, extra seating), and sometimes empty. Inside there is a small stage and concert area to the right, seating to the immediate right and left, the bar towards the back of the space, and 4 pool tables in the far left corner. The restrooms are located to the right as well. The whole place is quite clean and brightly lit (not a dim, divey-atmosphere at all). There are HDTVs here and there tuned into sporting events or Sportscenter. The Food: Flannagan's has wings and other appetizer-type finger foods. They've also got salads, pizza and calzones. I haven't tried any of the food, but I've heard via friends that the pizza is pretty good. The Drinks: very standard stuff. Nothing real special on the drink menu at all. The Crowd: lot's of people there just for the volleyball. Some people come for the concerts and some for the sports, but volleyball is definitely the big draw. Even on concert nights with cornhole and volleyball going on, I've not seen Flannagan's especially packed. This may be due simply to the sheer size of the place, but I'm sometimes surprised there aren't more people around. (My speculations: it's kind of an out-of-the-way place as far as bars go (i.e. - there aren't any other notable bars around it to hop to or from), and unless you're here for the volleyball, Flannagan's doesn't really offer anything you can't get at 100 different bars in the city). As far as demographics go, Flannagan's tends to draw an older crowd. Lot's of college kids and younger people on the volleyball courts (what with their still-healthy knees and whatnot), but a decidedly older crowd inside. Definitely a suburban crowd here as well. I'm not sure if I've seen a non-caucasion face here in all my visits. Overall: the building/patio & volleyball area are all great. The best thing that can be said about Flannagan's is that it's a volleyball-bar (a volleybar?). It's not really a sports bar (not enough tvs), and it's not a dance club (tiny dance floor), and it's not a great concert venue (tiny stage and standing area), and it offers nothing special in the way of beer/drink selection. As such, Flannagan's is often dead in the cold months. In addition, if you're not here to see a specific band or to play volleyball, this isn't a place that's likely to pop into your head as much of a destination (re: the 100 bars with better beer selections, the 20-or-so bars with better dance floors, and the 10 or-so better bar-concert venue). But don't get me wrong - I've had some fun times at Flannagan's, and I don't have any real egregious complaints about the place. I say give it a go! NOTE: Flannagan's is INDEED very packed on and around St. Patty's day, with multiple stages with bands playing, fun and games, giveaways, and all sorts of this-and-that's that draw in a healthy crowd. Great atmosphere, friendly/helpful staff and some intense volleyball action. It's almost funny watching people walk in dressed up to this place. You'll definitely be an outcast in heels and a mini-skirts, ladies. Not unless you've come for the annual Man Market -- two words, no thanks. There's definitely a good mix of people that come out - you won't find too much of a younger or older crowd. Flannagan's Dublin is mostly known for their live music venue and sand volleyball leagues, but this Sports Bar/Sports Complex has it all, including a large swimming pool for summertime guests. And really good food! Food? Probably one of the Best Bar Burgers you will find in the Columbus Area . . . IMHO. And the fries . . . perfect! My wife say's the Fish Sandwhich is really great as well, and so is the pizza. We've been there for various concerts and several private parties, and it has always been a great time! Now, it is a bit loud and crowded most of the time . . . but that's what makes it fun. It's a party environment. read more

Always heard about this place and finally checked it out with some friends to play volleyball. I didn't drink though since I didn't know how diving for volleyballs and drinking would be with my stomach. The venue was pretty packed but we didn't have a problem finding an open court to do our thing and the overall setup of the venue is pretty intuitive and makes sense. The pool was closed but basically it's like a bro'd out venue. Beer is available everywhere - - pool bar, outdoor bar, indoor bar, whatever. Parking was easy with the private lot and free water set out for anyone. The court boundaries were a little off since the cord holding one of the corners broke and we had to ghetto rig it but besides that everything else was pretty great. read more

I've been to Flannagan's about six times & each time has been magnificent. Personable bar staff, reasonable pricing, lively crowd & clean bathrooms (especially given the amount of people that place can fit). If you get the chance, try out their St. Patrick's Day party & the New Year's Eve bash. Both are very well done. The summertime is definitely the best season for this place, but it can hold its own during the rest of the year, as well. My only complaint would have to be the odd hours. Outside there are more tables next to quite a few volleyball courts. Plus there is a deck upstairs with more table seating that looks over the volleyball courts. Very laid back atmosphere. Good place to kill time during a weeknight (I do believe they charge a cover during the weekend)- we went on a Wednesday night and watched the volleyball leagues play. There is also live karaoke (as in an actual band will play the song you would like to sing, instead of the music coming from a computer or whatnot). The pizza here is delish- nice flaky crust.
