Love the decor, ambiance, and the way records are stacked with plenty of room to peruse without colliding with other LP seekers. Found two records for the right price and wish I had more time as they had record players and cassette players as well. Will need one in the future. Maybe next time. Make my way up from Miami. Great place for great music at a great price!

Owned by one of the kindest, most conscientious music fans and female store owners in Michigan. An encounter with Heather Frarey is like talking to an old freind from high school. She is personable and connects on every level. She along with her pal Bill, stocks this store with so much love and charm. But don't let it fool you. She's a rocker. A punk. An adult contemporary lover. That's the BEST kind of fan. The store grows by leaps and bounds yearly. And her VERY affordable USED selections are unmatched by other records stores. They are all in excellent condition. Nothing she wouldn't own for herself. I have bought and sold many records at the Record Lounge. Always at a fair price. Let me say that again: She BUYS used records at a great price. By the dozens or hundreds. That fact is, I could never spend ENOUGH time there on my visits. If you like them on FB you will see almost daily videos of new arrivals. They are very good at responding to their messages and will welcome you with great service. Even BETTER, she sells stereos. Not the random new stuff but has a great array of SOLID older units restored and cared for by a great friend of hers. It's more than you'd expect from an independent. But THAT is the reason why she succeeds. The store has more employees than I have met yet, but I plan for a reunion soon. So I will be in to scour the Monkees records, talk about ELO and come home with more than I went in for and THAT is the hallmark of a great business and record store.

I made calls to multiple Record stores within the last 2 months prepping, planning on where I wanted to go. Schuler's seemed like the hidden gem no one goes to. I was told, along with several other people that they HONOR THE LINE. I showed up at 4am. I was second in line, made friends with the first and third in line who were also told they honor the line. at 8:45ish a man came out and took note of how many people wanted Taylor Swift only. I was hopeful I was getting my entire ISO and my oldest would get what they want to because again, 2nd in line. Doors open at 9am and the man who came out earlier announces free for all. At that point it became a safety issue, people running, pushing, hollering. I got everything I was after however they only had 1 copy of what Toby wanted and they sold out because of course. I called the grand rapids location, the GM was super nice, offered to send us the vinyl free if they had it in stock but sadly they had only gotten 1 as well and it sold out. I am so sad for my oldest because this was supposed to be a fun experience and because of one careless man, RSD has been forever tainted for us because I really don't want to risk sitting out from 4am-9am in the rain ever again just to be trampled on.

The owner did return the collection only to be thrown into bags and boxes like trash. All of them that were in the original boxes were returned in bags, now the value is greatly depreciated. It was bad from the start, first we were not properly informed of the auction or given the chance to see the display, which was horribly thrown into piles for auctioning. I expressed my concerns and the owner had his goons buy out the auction, which is illegal to do I'm sure! They did not even display all of the collection,he said they were broken or damaged! We have pictures of how they left my home in the owners care, when we finally picked them up there are over 1500 pieces broken and some unfixable! My grandfather collected these for over 70 years to be thrown around like nothing,he knew the sentimental value as well as the dollar value! I was consigning this collection to save my grandfather's family home and now this experience has left me with half the collection good and half broken due to their negligence and disrespectful business ethics.worst experience I've ever seen. I'm contacting everyone I can to make sure this does not happen to anyone else.

I've always WANTED to be but I think my main problem is I just don't quite know where to start. What I DO know, however, is that when I'm ready to jump on in and get schooled Back to the Past will be the place I go to get learned. The staff is just SO nice. Seriously, everyone I encountered when I popped in last week is just friendly as can be. Scott in particular was just a peach of a guy; very helpful, enthusiastic, and personable. I have a feeling they'd make some stellar teachers! The shop is tucked into a parking lot just a touch south of 96 on Inkster, although it's easy to spot with it's big banner and photos of comic touchstones and pop culture icons (Marilyn!) on the building. The space inside is HUGE. Racks and racks of comics fill up the shop with plastic covered wonder. I'm pretty confident that they'll have most everything you could look for there. But they don't just carry comics. They've also got a great selection of figurines and collectables, not to mention pop culturey items and nostalgic goods. As far as I can tell the price point is pretty darn good which makes the selection even more appealing (you can stock up on loads without breaking the bank!). But that's not the only reason you should hit up Back to the Past--they've got the most helpful staff around!
