DO NOT GIVE RON YOUR BUSINESS... I have had Ron work on setting up many guitars and basses. He has always treated me fair until I wanted to buy one of his bass guitars. I walked in with cash in hand to pay what was marked on the bass. He said "I won't sell it to you for that price", pointing to the tad, "I want $100 more!" I told him "you can't do that in Montana, you have to sell it for what it's marked at" and he said "it's my shop, I can do whatever I want"... so beware... Flathead guitar works is unethical and it's trade practices. read more

I was pleased find this business. The owner was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I had the action on my guitar adjusted. It cost significantly less than the other guitar store in Kalispell. I moved to Whitefish Montana for what was going to be a house hunting mission that Covid 19 turned into a nightmare. I brought 2 of my favorite Taylor guitars with me. My Koa K26CE was in need of a setup and I had to wait until state restrictions were lifted to get it into their shop. Ron is an amazing and multi talented tech, player and luthier who is extremely easy going, knowledgeable and what I would easily call an expert in his field. I could not have been more thrilled to have the opportunity to have him do the work. The guitar plays better than it did when it came from the factory and we decided to abandon the elixir strings that Taylor leans on so heavily for a brand that Ron assured me would brighten an already bright soundbox. Forget all the other hacks out there and go visit this guy...there's just no way you'll ever stop going back. My only regret is that I don't have all of my other guitars with me but if I did, they'd all go to him for any work that needed to be done!! read more

My repair job was done nicely and the details were fine tuned. sound quality on my guitar improved. However...the price wasnt was I was expecting, and the total bill was 60$ over what the quote price was without a heads up, or phone call asking if that was an option. Doesn't seem fair to change the repair price above the quote without so much as a heads up or phone call. wont be coming back. read more

Ron has worked on several of my guitars, and I couldn't be happier. He beautifully refretted my '63 Vox Tornado, and more recently did a level, crown and polish for me that turned my rather rough, bumpy Tele neck to smooth as butter. He's a heckuva nice guy, as well! read more

Fixed my bass and its rocking! Really nice guy too way better than music one. Those guys wanted to charge almost double for the same thing!
