The new ownership is run by the son-in law of the new owner, his name is Joel. Joel is spread very thin. He is the general manager and has responsibilities that include running the RV park, motel, Flathead Marina, and the Harbor Grille Restaurant. He is a nice man who tries very hard. His upper management is good, ie...Mariah...His day to day operations are handled by very responsible young men and women from area high schools and perhaps colleges. I had an emergency at the marina that required paramedics. These young people where so helpful. They rose to the occasion and went above and beyond their responsibilities. Their are area where improvement is needed. The reservation system, the dog park and perhaps some additions like Pickleball or workout facility. HOWEVER, the parks location is awesome. Right across from Flathead Lake. Their is a boat ramp, restaurants, coffee shops, water sport rentals, fishing charter, and banks. There is a small grocery store, and several gas stations. The RV park is only 45 minutes from Whitefish, 20 minutes to Kalispell or Big Fork and 50 minutes to Polson, or Glacier. The cost is consistent with other RV sites. Unfortunately, I cost to stay continues to escalate. The place has the potential to be great, lots of land and potential. I will conclude with this everyone is kind.

However, the couple that manage it are so kind, friendly, and inviting I would be doing them a disservice by not leaving a review. First off the price, compared to everything else during high season right now the Travelodge in Kalispell is going for $440 a night, whereas this is going for less than half that, with his own private beach on flathead lake. The rooms are cute and quaint with just about everything you could need, but I literally have a lake view outside my room, they are pet friendly, and a couple managing. It will warm your heart. I wish them nothing but the best with their property because they deserve it.

Long review coming. The short answer-do I recommend? No and here's why. First, the location. This…read moreis in no way a place where your room has a lovely view of the lake or access to it unless you try crossing the highway and into private properties. Parking is limited and one night upon our return there was no space. Getting to your room is a small sidewalk that is highly in needed of trimming to actually walk through without being smacked in the face. WiFi was terrible with one bar service. The room (Bali) was spacious but the functionality of it could be so much better. Get rid of the dusty plastic plants and put in some end tables or extra seating. Put a large mirror outside the one bathroom to allow guests to get ready when bathroom is in use. The bathroom was huge but it had a pedestal sink that offered no room for toiletries or hot tools. Plenty of space to add a larger sink, even a dresser. The mirror was useless and the size of a small plate. The bathroom mat was old and soaking wet when we arrived and during our stay the toilet clogged and must be common because a plunger was provided but didn't work well. Not fun things to deal with as a mom on vacation. The fans and windows were caked in dust. I'm always looking for stray socks when we leave and under the couch was full of things you wish you didn't see. I did like the chairs outside and the sauna was interesting but small and I never felt comfortable enough to join when it was in use. Also it had no instructions on how to use it. Service was nonexistent. No office area or help. Not sure how long I would have waited if the toilet didn't unclog after my 10 minutes of trying or where our family would have had another facility to use in the meantime. As for the rooms having different themes-Montana is special and this area especially close to Glacier National Park-why not celebrate that uniqueness and beauty and have the decor match it with local art or cabin feel? People travel from all over to come here, not to see a room decorated like Bali because that certainly wasn't it, but to feel like Montana. There is potential here with a correct price point and frankness about lake access and view, but I'm never staying here again.

Months leading up to our Big Day, I was…read morefreaking out about where the Bridal party will be getting ready at since our wedding location was predominantly occupied by the Groomsmen party. A few of our out-of-town guests were staying at Somers Bay Log Cabin and to be honest they location was PERFECT since it was just right down the street from the neighborhood that we were getting married at. I thought they might be booked up already for June but still went in to try my luck early April. That's when I met Tia, their property manager. I explained to her my situation and that I really just needed a temporary spot during the day for my girls and I to get our hair and make up done. She checked her calendar and somehow was able to work her magic and squeezed a cabin just for our bridal party to get ready at. She even gave me a choice of booking for the night before or just that morning of at a discounted rate. I chose latter for the logistical convenience of that morning otherwise I'd love to spend a night at their cozy cabin! I was almost in tears that day when talking to Tia and I told her she had no idea how much weight she has lifted off my shoulder just thinking about this morning of location dilemma. To top it off, she even said it was okay for us to take some of our wedding photos onsite because have you seen how GORGEOUS their property is?! Tia is super sweet and courteous! The owners of the Somers Bay Log Cabin is very lucky to have her! I love that she puts her customers first and this is why we highly recommend Somers Bay Log Cabin if you are planning your Flathead Valley stay! Oh and did I mention that their gorgeous property is just right across from the Flathead Lake? I mean, the lake is literally a few steps away! It doesn't matter if you go during summer or winter, the sceneries are breathtaking regardless! All of our wedding guests who stayed there really enjoyed the cabin life, sipping their coffee in the morning on the front porch while looking over at the lake! Great place to stay across HWY 93 from Flathead Lake. Clean, cozy cabins with beautiful…read morelandscaping. Comfortable beds. We stayed in #10 which is a King (bed) studio. Nice little kitchenette with a small stove, fridge and microwave. There is WiFi but it was not very strong in our cabin. (our friends were in cabin #6 and they had a strong signal) There is tv in the cabin with cable, but we never used it. We were in town attending a wedding at the Rack Shack, so the cabins were a great choice as we did not have to do any driving after the reception. There is also a great walking trail across the highway from the cabins, along Flathead Lake. We walked the mile or so into Somers each day to eat at the Somers Bay Cafe. Just be careful crossing the highway. Only downside of the entire stay was the highway noise, which can be pretty intrusive if you sleep with the windows open. Not sure I would ever stay at the cabins that are closer to the highway. (Cabins 1 and 12) There was also noise one night from a loud party at the Rack Shack, which is the venue next door to the cabins. It went on past midnight and we ended up resorting to ear plugs. It probably would not have been an issue if we had closed the windows. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the beautiful Flathead valley.

But if you want to experience semi "rustic living" in the great outdoors, LONESOME DOVE is for you. The road to this resort is dusty in summer and snowy in winter, which should turn back "posers". Not us! We stayed in a tent (with a wooden floor, not dirt as Native Americans had). Two twin beds had a lot of bed covers, so though temperature dropped to low fifties at night, we were cozy and comfortable. Tent interior was clean, artful and hospitable. The port-a-pottie required sort of a hike, especially if need arises in mid of night, but also clean and well maintained. We saw deer, bison and plenty of birds around. Ranch also offers horses for trail rides. Main building had the usual souvenirs for the traveler to buy. Eating area had walls covered in photos of authentic cowboys and Indians (although I don't call John Wayne an authentic cowboy...) . Breakfast menu was extensive, portions heaping, hot and really filling. We did not got opportunity to try dinner menu, but believe it was similarly good. Staff was really helpful and attentive. Montana is quite far from our home, but if road will ever take us back to Kalispell, we definitely will be happy campers yet again!

We own horses and ride quite often so we are harder to really please but it was a wonderful pleasure. And so nice to go through almost 5 miles without coming across anyone else - almost like a backcountry experience. We plan to go again. We almost carried rain gear but did not. We lucked out in that weather was nice until we were leaving. Recommended.

I had read some less than enthusiastic reviews about not being able to hear the captain over the microphone. Which if you DO NOT sit over the engine, you hear just fine if you want. It was a lovely excursion with the right amount of trivia sprinkled in on occasion. The staff was pleasant. The views and the 'big sky' from the water were OUTSTANDING. The price was more than reasonable for an almost two hour tour. It really was a highlight of my stay in Lakeside. Thank you!!!

Our morning was a cozy rainy one, and I still got to sit outside on the private front porch and read this morning. Everything about it was clean and safe and I'd love to stay here again whenever we're back in MT!
