The check in was easy and because it's reservation only, the number of people allowed makes it less crowded. The temperature of the water is perfect -- not super hot. The depth is 6ft so many cannot touch the ground. The sulphur smell isn't that strong. Loved the bit of history that they gave us at the end My only wish is that I could stay in there all day!! I will definitely try to get back here.

Parking can def be tricky so be sure to come about 10-15 mins early to get the rules of what is to be expected. They are very organized and do have separate slots for co-ed, family-friendly, and separate female and male houses. My friend and I got the women's only warm springs and IT IS A MUST try. Like I mentioned earlier, very organized and a fantastic experience. We managed to get a dressing room to leave our belongings there and last minute decided to go in the nude. You do have the option to wear your bathing suit - your level of comfort! It was AMAZING. The water was perfect and the silence/meditation was much needed in my life. The rocks on the bottom of the springs to step on and floaties to float on. It's a really great experience I'm so happy I got to try it. Be sure to check out the website for additional information and make reservations - it is part of the Omni Hotel (https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/homestead-virginia/wellness/warm-springs-pools?utm_source=GMBlisting&utm_medium=organic) Oh, and there is a REALLY delicious restaurant across the street (called The Inn - be sure to make reservations because they do tend to get crowded)!

Saturday May 19th, my hubby and I enjoyed hiking out to this lovely waterfall. This waterfall is…read morethe third in the series at Swallow Falls State Park on the Youghiogheny River. It is more like a rapid not a real fall but it is still flowing very rapidly and is lovely to look at. On the loop walk this is the 3rd of the falls and the slightly walk in the groves of the virgin hemlock trees. There is a split in the trail, you can continue out the canopied tree walk through the forest or you can descend the stairs to the lower fall trail. You can also walk out to the top of these falls so be careful!!! THERE ARE NOT RAILINGS UP THERE ON THE TOP OF THE FALLS, YOU CAN HAVE A SEVERE ACCIDENT EASILY, ROCKS VERY SLIPPERY HERE!!! You will be on some really big rocks that can be wet and you definitely don't want to fall in here. There is a huge rock tower with 2 trees growing on top it. Very unique and great PHOTO OP!! Once you go back up to the upper trail thru the canopy Hemlock trees to go out to Tolliver Falls you have to climb 108 stairs! These lovely groves of Virgin Hemlocks are lovely and remind me of pine trees but super tall. The groves of Hemlocks are very tall and lovely! I have to admit, I used my off here because of the dense forest and wet like conditions with all the ferns and trees so thick that its like a dark canopy in there. I still got bit by a mosquito so be careful with any kids, make sure everyone is covered in OFF or some sort of Deet. WARNING: Rocks very slippery! There is no barriers at the tops of the falls so also take warning and be careful with any pets and kids. Rocks are slippery and you can go over. You are allowed to Wade in the river and the bottom of the falls but the water is strong and swift so be extra careful There is a cost for this park. Maryland state residents $3 per person, out of state residents $5 but the fee also includes Herrington Manor State Park. One fee for both parks!! Since you are having to pay to enjoy God's backyard here, Be sure to see all four waterfalls in this lovely park!!!

The first was probably close to 30 years ago when I was living outside of Pittsburgh and heading south, I missed the turnoff to the US 19 shortcut to I-77 and made a correction and followed the Gauley River. It was in October and I was beautiful. Times have moved on since then and times have changed. Kids have grown up, I remarried and moved in a different direction in my career but I keep being drawn back to this place. Not sure but it may be the contrast. From the East, you have the New River which rises in the Mountains of NC of which I am a native. Not new but very old, quite at times but turbulent at others. From the side is the smaller Gauley and while smaller, a very vigorous stream. They come together at the town of Gauley River. The Gauley and the New River combine at this point to form the Kanawa in it's journey to become part of the Ohio. At the same time, mighty rail lines converge as well to form a contrast. Power or nature and industry on one side, but the quiet acceptance and tranquility of the other. I love this place for several reasons. The Beauty is one, particularly in the fall with fall colors but more importantly the underlying presence of the forces on nature and industry. Alli in all, somehow a since of tranquity and peace is maintained and that is what I love. I love to walk down on an early morning and watch the trains laden with cold go by. A gentle stream of traffic go by. The only confusion comes from natural events such as Waterfalls, Locks , etc Love this place because it is one of the few places i can gather my thoughs

Back again after a long hiatus! Love Muriale's ever since my first visit as a 20 something!…read moreStopped by on a drive from Pittsburgh with my sister on our way back to Charlotte and Greenville, SC. I talked into the meatball hoagie with a house salad with the house dressing. Can't wait to eat.... The house salad and Italian bread with soft butter were outstanding. By the number of ingredients, that salad was made with a lot of love. Waiting on the meatball hoagie.... The mixed peppers on the meatball with a large mound of melted mozzarella cheese. The sandwich was large enough that it was a struggle to get my mouth around it to take a bite and that's a good thing! The meatballs and red sauce were as good as ever. My sister had never been to Muriale's so she became an instant fan. After 8 years away this meal was great. Don't ever change and keep it classy. Thank you!

As we're temporarily home bound, a friend brought us delicious takeout from Muriale's. We shared two somewhat-similar and tasty entrees, (1) Eggplant Parmesan ($21) featuring lightly breaded and fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, house-made marinara sauce and (2) Veal Parmesan ($24), with lighted breaded and fried veal, fresh mozzarella, and house-made meat sauce. Both entrees were served with a side of spaghetti and tomato-based sauce, house salad, and garlic toast. Note that the house salad was excellent, consisting of fresh greens, onions, cheese, olives, tomatoes, pepperoni, and roasted red peppers. We chose the balsamic vinaigrette as our dressing. (Side salads in the Fairmont/Clarksburg area are often only iceberg lettuce and a shaving or two of carrots). Our initial thought was that the prices were a bit on the higher side. However, in seeing the high quality of the food, the generous portions, and the "extras" that were included (salad, garlic toast, etc.), we feel that it was a good value.
