I have been coming here since it first opened. I understand it changed ownership a few years ago and since then I have noticed some changes. There seems to be a significant issue with cleanliness. The glass window between customers and food is filthy. It is smeared with dirty water and today there was dried chia pudding and drops of the fruit bases all over the counters and glass. It was actually quite gross and unappetizing. The fruit is not as fresh and the vanilla chia pudding on the counter was dated 6/20 and served today (6/29). The trash cans and floors are filthy and d grimy with food dripping down the sides. The staff is often rude and disgruntled. I love the bowls and the bases are delicious. It's really been disappointing lately as our family was going frequently but it's difficult to see the establishment in such conditions. Thank you for your response. We remembered how fresh the fruit to be had at Flavor Theory was and made a point of visiting today after lab at the university campus. It brought us comfort that the business was following CDC guidelines for its operations. We saw as we entered that there were social distancing markers and a guided direction for flow of traffic. The young lady that asked how she could help us was masked as well as gloved. She was very efficient filling both my and my daughter's orders for a 12-oz. super bowl with pitaya base, honey granola, and chia vanilla with fruit toppings and almond slices and a 16-oz. super bowl with pitaya and matcha bases, French vanilla granola, chia vanilla with fruit toppings, honey syrup, and matcha powder. In addition, we ordered the banana boat smoothie for the sister still at work on campus and a banberry smoothie. It was not crowded in the store. One couple had left before we entered and another customer entered as our order was being finished. The bowls more than satisfied. You could taste the banana flavor in the smoothies. Flavor Theory is dirty inside the business and portions provided are extremely small. The manager claims it is store policy to not give you a portion size that is reflected by the photo of the bowl on the menu that you order from. Expect to pay full price and get less than what is shown in the menu photos. Quality of the ingredients are subpar as well. Cutting board that your fruit will be prepped on is also disgusting looking. The funny part is the only person who makes your bowl with small portions is the manager. Other employees will make your bowl as it should be made so you're getting what you're paying for. The manager thinks it is ok to charge customers full price and give customers less than what you should receive. In his mind that is policy and that is ok business to conduct. What a joke. I will not be giving Flavor Theory my business ever again and I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of this place. read more

I used to come here all the time. I love the fact that you can customize your açai bowl. Their bowls were always overflowing with açaí, fruit and toppings. They put maybe 4 halves of strawberries on top and when I asked for more I got 2 more halves. Especially considering that was the only fruit I got besides blueberries. Everytime I go in, it's worse than the last. It's a gamble if the employee helping you is in a good mood, because if their not, then the service just sucks. Last time I went, guy didn't even bother to say hi to me OR the other lady who probably had been waiting for a while because she actually walked out without ordering after the guy was flippant and said he was busy and they'd be right with her, he was cutting fruit , so yea I guess that's more important than the customers.
