I visited Fleet Feet on a weekday afternoon. I did not have to wait, and overall I had a positive experience. I needed some new walking shoes and I have traditionally had a very difficult time finding shoes that work well for me. I really enjoyed the computer analysis of my feet shape/size and the mechanics of how I walk. The 3D models were interesting (and very accurate of the challenges I have finding shoes). You get an email link with your foot analysis that you can torture your friends and family with. Thanks for that, they'll love it at the holidays this year! (Sorry, not sorry.) Bethany was very patient bringing me many shoes to try on. I did finally select a pair that *might work for me, from a Finnish brand I have never heard of - I'll have to see how they are after I try walking in them some. They do have a 30 day return policy that I hope not to have to use. They also have a rewards program that earns you discounts on future purchases. I will say I was surprised that, right out of the gate, they try to sell you socks. I have no idea how expensive those socks are, as they were too tight to be comfortable for me. Then, before you put any shoe on, they bring you $60 insoles. The socks and insoles are on top of what I think of as higher end shoes (around $175-200/pair). I haven't ever experienced this at a shoe store before. Most of the shoes brought to me to try on were run/walk combo shoes or running shoes. I do not run. Ever. I guess they either don't carry a lot shoes for walking specifically, or those weren't a good fit for my foot. They were all a rather specific style that's popular right now but that I personally hate: crazy thick soles with super wide flared foot beds. Someone recommended the Fleet Feet store to me so I stopped by today. I was planning on getting a pair of shoes and at least 1, maybe 2, insoles. That would have made a purchase of $200-250. The story was busy and my name was added to a list. That's understandable. I waited a few minutes until a salesman talked to me. After I explained what I wanted he talked to me a little more and then turned around and went back to another customer. No "excuse me" or anything. He just turned his back on me and walked away. Wow, wow, wow! The staff at this store are incredibly knowledgeable, patient and use impressive technology to figure out what shoes and orthotic inserts will help you the most. I've had multiple podiatrists and physical therapists over the past three years. NONE of them were as helpful as Ray at Fleet Feet in the Des Peres location. First of all, the scans they are able to do of your feet is more sophisticated than any podiatrist's office I've been in. Second of all, they do NOT work on commission so no one is trying to sell you anything. But the most impressive thing to me was how they were able to identify the root cause of my foot issues. I am now on a path to actually fixing the issues, not masking it or the pain. My podiatrist said it would cost me $600 to get custom orthotics. I got them for $150 at Fleet Feet. I highly recommend going in, listening to them and taking their advice. read more

I stopped into this new Fleet Feet location after signing up for their half marathon training program through an opportunity at work. I decided before I put on the miles, I better get fitted for a new shoe. I'm certainly glad I did! I had previously gotten fitted for running shoes before getting pregnant and ended up needing way different shoes than I was currently using. My previous (and first) fitting was done at another local running store, and I didn't know until given the star treatment at Fleet Feet that it left something to be desired. The staff at Fleet Feet was very attentive and knowledgeable in the subject area of running and walking, and I've found them to continuously be for many subsequent visits to the store. This location also boasts a Training Center with many services detailed on their website, and their moveable product walls make the barrier between retail store and training center very fluid depending on the events being held at the time. I particularly love Fleet Feet's rewards program in which you earn rewards certificates based upon money spent in store. read more

The employees take their time with you and make sure you get the right shoe for you with the right fit and the right socks. It's all very important. Today I wasn't here for new shoes though. Today I was here to recycle about 6 pairs of my former running shoes. I dropped them off and the employees were friendly and said thank you. I'll be back for my next pair. I signed up for their training program which is the worst I've ever participate in. As an intermediate runner it was a total waste of money. I expressed concern after the very first session with no response. I tried to go again to the second session. But still was a horrible experience. They would give me NO refund after less than a week of the program. Likely it would be an ok program for beginners. But if you are already a runner who is trying to improve this is NOT the program for you. read more

I was sad to have a bad experience at this particular Fleet Feet. I've been a loyal customer to the Fleet Feet in Fenton, but since that one moved, I decided to check out Des Peres. When I walked in, I told the salesperson about my foot problems, and said that my current pair of shoes (that I was wearing) were perfect, and I'd like something similar. The salesperson responded loudly and rudely that they no longer carry these shoes because they are six years old. That is absolutely false. Yes, my shoes are old, but three years old, not six. The salesperson seemed to be adamant over this. Why does it even matter? Besides, I never said I needed the same shoes, just something similar. The salesperson never watched how I walk, never checked my arches, never asked me how much I run, and never asked the type of running that I do. The salesperson then proceeded to have me try on stability shoes after I specifically said I wanted something lighter. After only three pairs (none of which felt right) the salesperson expected me to make a decision. I was extremely flustered and said I needed to think about it and left. I searched my phone for other nearby running stores and was able to find one down the street where I found the perfect shoe and had excellent customer service. I was so pleased with my decision to stop into Fleet Feet. I am a beginning runner and Andy helped fit me with some really great shoes. I had started out running the first few times in some shoes that I had already and was really feeling it in my hip flexors and my shins. A friend recommended I stop in to Fleet Feet. I have not had a single ache or pain so far with the Brooks running shoes he sold me and I'm really enjoying my new running program. I bought a pair of running shoes that came up on the list as being a 9 out of 10 good fit for me and felt good at the fitting, but almost immediately I started having hip pain, knee pain, and my speed was diminished. I was breaking them in so didn't wear them at every run and thought it was because of a new exercise class or my plantar fasciitis, or the heat, or a combination, but finally decided it was the new shoes. I was just outside of my 60 day window but they gave me a full price credit toward a totally different pair. After just one run, I knew that the new shoes were a perfect fit. Their staff have always been attentive and listen to my concerns and answer my questions, no matter how crazy they seem. I like that your purchases earn you rewards.
