(wasn't that busy in the store) before I got help from a girl wearing sweets, like it was casual day. She had little product knowledge and didn't seem to know how to help. Maybe they were short staffed and they threw her on the floor. I felt I could have done just as good if I went to Walmart and did it myself. After a while I just got frustrated and decided to come back another time. Hopefully the next time will be better.

When looking for Alana's leotards and under garments for her spring show, we bought and tried almost three different items to get a color that was as close as possible to her skin tone. The owner of Mackenzie Kate expressed her empathy over the phone yesterday when my daughter and I resigned ourselves to the fact she would have to get black character shoes due to a lack of options. Misty at Mackenzie Kate told us to come in and she gave at least three options of things we could do should this new line of dance shoes not match her color. For the first time in her life, Alana was able to look in the mirror and see dance shoes that match and represent her! Her face and the sheer joy in her reflection was priceless. Misty's mission was to make sure her advertising, signage, and other marketing items come only after she had a selection of dance items to represent the variance in the dancers of our city because, "every dancer deserves to have a beautiful line of dancewear," Misty stated. My daughter went for a pointe fitting and Misty spent SO much time educating her on the different parts of the shoe and about her feet. I had no idea how complex it is to properly (and safely!) fit a dancer for pointe shoes. I am SO thankful to Misty for going above and beyond teaching my girl. We must have tried on 30 pairs of shoes. Later in studio, my daughter wanted to compare her old and new shoes, so she tried on one of each. The difference was incredible. Her new shoes from Misty were so much more comfortable and will allow her to develop the foot strength she will need to dance safely. Thank you Misty.
