This is going to sound like an advertisement, but, here we go... The first Fleet Feet store opened its doors in 1976 in Sacramento, California, so they have been around for quite a while. As I understand it, there are corporate Fleet Feet stores, but the Fleet Feet Tucson locations are locally-owned and as a result are very community focused. Consider them your local specialty running, walking, and fitness store with a mission beyond just selling shoes. What does that mean? Being owned by a member of the local running community means that the shop is more "connected" than your usual shops. (I noticed this is more common in Tucson than anywhere else I have lived.) Customers and local runners know the store as a hub for community gatherings and group runs that create connections among local athletes and newcomers alike. I no longer live in Tucson, but I still participate in some of the race events that they sponsor -- and have done so for over 10 years. Living near Phoenix means that I have quite a trek now, so even though I still receive the emails, joining the group runs is not something that I can do. As an academic, I am a firm believer in seeing the data. Fleet Feet offers the service of 3D scanning one's feet to provide individualized feedback on what products will offer the most preferable shoes. Came in here and did a scan of my feet. They recommended several shoes for me to try after. I tried on three and ended up going with the hokas. (My Only complaint is I didn't have the option to use the treadmill when I was trying on my shoes, I was told it was there for show. but when I was leaving, I saw someone on the treadmill... So I don't know what the requirements are for that. I definitely had a hard time choosing between the three shoes I narrowed down to. And using the treadmill probably would've made me purchase more pairs and get a better feel for walking/running.) And I grabbed a couple cute T-shirts as well. read more

I've been coming to Fleet feet for many years. I know I have a neutral heel and I know the brand I'd like. Today I came in and they immediately came right up to me. They have a new computerized foot scanning device. It's just pretty cool where they verify the appropriate width and shoe size, based on how my foot was resting on the pads . and helped me and brought out some shoes. I've never seen before to give me a taste of some other brands that I might try. Nice selection of shoes, socks, and clothing as well as inserts for your shoe. I love come here. read more

The last two times I've been to the store, I've had to be put on a "waitlist" just to try on shoes. Both times, the store had only 3 or 4 people already being waited on, so if you go and there are more than a few people already in the store, you'll have to wait. Once you get help, the service is usually good, but I don't want to have to wait every single time I shop there. I'm not sure if it's always busy or I've just been unlucky, or they don't have enough people working, but I won't go back. I can shop online or visit another store and get service much faster. read more

Came in to get a new pair of running shoes. I am training for my first marathon and have no knowledge on shoes. I had my feet scanned and Karen explained my scan and recommended multiple options to try and choose from. I tested each pair out by running on the in store treadmill. Karen was great. I recently started on my running journey and a friend told me about the foot scanner here to be able to find the best shoes so I went to try it out and buy some good running shoes. I was greeted and helped by Amy who was extremely helpful, patient and knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the shape of my feet and what may work better for me after Amy went over my results and she grabbed 3 pairs for me to try on. All 3 felt so great for my feet and it was a very difficult decision but I left happy and excited and had a really great experience for my first time shopping here. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I had to go back because sadly the first pair of shoes I tried did not work well for my feet so I wanted to exchange them. I got there a little before closing as I rushed from an opposite side of town right after work and this second visit, another employee made me feel really unwelcome like it was a huge inconvenience that I got there right before closing. I felt very uncomfortable and rushed. Amy who helped me on my first visit didn't seem to remember our interaction at first when the other employee made the remark "Amy has probably seen over 50 more feet since seeing yours" ...it had been 3 days but I was okay that she didn't remember; I just wanted to exchange my shoes. Luckily Amy ended up remembering me and the other pair of shoes I wanted to exchange them for and I was able to hastily make my exchange and leave, but that employee probably should get some customer service training and work on being kinder to customers. However, Amy thank you for your kindness and helping me find a good shoe for my running journey. I did overall enjoy my shopping experience here and think it is a good place to go if you need help figuring out your foot issues and finding the right shoe for you. read more

An outstanding experience from when we entered the door until we left (with five new pairs of shoes). My husband and I both had our feet measured, and it was amazing to learn that we both were wearing the wrong size shoe and that our feet differed in size from each other. Our salesperson was so helpful and patient, and now we have some great new shoes to see us through the year and our exercise goals. I made my second visit with top shelf treatment and an exceptional experience overall. The young man who helped me, Nick, was super qualified and knowledgeable of all their brands and respective fits. He guided me through a custom fitting, three separate brands and different orthotics. Yesterday my husband and I went to Fleet Feet to buy hiking shoes. I'm happy to say we had a great experience! We were greeted immediately and they took our name saying it would be 5-10 minutes and someone would be with us. This is extra time allowed us to shop for other items (we found some great socks.) So I worked from home for 5 years, and just got a job where I walk miles a day. My dad is on his feet all day and suggested I get Hokas. As a Birkenstock woman, I did not find this appealing...but my boss says I gotta wear closed-toed shoes. Upon entering Fleet Feet on Tanque Verde, I was immediately greeted and saw that each customer was being helped by an employee. The fellow who helped me, Shawn, went above and beyond to help me find the right shoe. First, he scanned my feet and identified all the specifics that needed to be addressed (pronation/atrophy due to an injury, etc.). Right off the bat, he said he wouldn't recommend Hokas. He brought out several rounds of shoes until we found one that was supportive *and* kept my narrow ankles from slipping. He was patient, EXTREMELY knowledgeable (I believe he has a degree in human physiology) and kind. Did I mention patient? He never made me feel like it was a burden to try a different brand or style. The employees do not work on commission, I did not feel pressured to make a purchase. It's been a week, and my feet are doing well! read more

I bought my first pair of Hoka's a couple of years ago at the Eastside store and the salesperson was great. She was enthusiastic, helpful and nice. I just went there the other day and it was like buying a pair of shoes at Sears (now out of business). The salesperson acted like he was annoyed and wanted to go home. He didn't offer to analyze our feet, just asked what size we wore. I can go to Dick's and get that type of service. The stores selection was terrible (not his fault), but he had not alternatives. It was not a great experience. I guess they think they are too good to provide service anymore and people should buy shoes from them for their reputation only. Take a lesson from Sears would be my recommendation. read more

Can I just say how much I love this place?! I was fitted using their treadmill which is not only fun but super helpful. I've honestly been wearing my same type of Brooks shoes for 7 years, simply buying the newest model each time it comes out. The prices are comparable and I have referred a ton of friends to be fitted as well. Not everyone's treadmill footage is created equal!! My husband running looks like a scene from Hostel every time he lands. Ever since he got fitted by the awesome Fleet Feet staff he has been running longer distances with significantly less discomfort in his muscles and joints. They also sell clothing and other goodies you might need before a race. The staff is surprisingly crazy educated about everything they sell from socks and shoes to supplemental nutrition while working out. I have also participated in their running groups which have a no man left behind policy. There is seriously so much support no matter how fast or slow you really are. I love locally owned businesses and I would recommend this fleet feet time and time again for anyone looking to talk to friendly supportive staff who care and know way too much about running gear! read more

He analyzed my feet on their machine and informed me that I've actually been wearing the wrong size all these years. I have always been well treated and well taken care of when I visit Fleet Feet. I came in the first time about 5 or 6 years ago with plantar fasci problems. Tim put me on the treadmill and I walked out with my first pair of Brooks. Since then, working with other staff, I have moved over to Hokas, as well as Vionics. No, the shoes are not inexpensive, and my name isn't Rockefeller. I am not a runner, nor do I have a runner's build. And I have always experienced a high level of customer service at Fleet Feet, regardless of the issue (and I have only had one problem in 6 years!). My wife rrecently had foot surgery and was just getting back into treadmill fitness again. The shoes that she had been wearing were making her feet uncomfortable, especially where the surgery scar was. After going to a different shoe store and getting no real service other than getting the requested size from the back room, we decided to try Fleet Feet Sports Right away, the experience was amazingly different. Suzie greeted us and asked my wife a few questions so she could give us the right assistance. She then recorded a video of my wife walking on a treadmill to see how she walked, and using an amazing Ipad app, she was able to determine the correct footwear solution. Suzie then measured my wife's feet and brought out some Brooks and Asics that she knew would work with my wife's foot shape and walking style. As it turned out my wife's shoe size was a half size larger than she had ever worn. In the end, we left with the perfect pair of running shoes, and a wealth of knowledge. Wow, I used Yelp to find these guys and just now realized that I never bothered to write up a review for them. How silly of me. Bottom line: If you need shoes for running, walking, etc. this is the place to go. The staff is absolutely professional and talk to you in terms of the things you will need to be a healthy runner. Before they even show you a shoe, they put you on a treadmill and watch your stride as you run or walk. Based on your body mechanics, they then recommend some shoes for you to try on. And they don't stop with just one. For me, they pulled out three different pairs and insisted that I try on each before making any kind of decision, even though the very first pair I tried on ended up being the ones I would eventually buy. Throughout the whole process I was treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. Yes things here are more expensive than what you will find at a "big box" store but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. What you will "save" in terms of the sale will end up costing you more in the long run when the cut rate shoes you bought fall apart after a month, or when your feet ache from wearing them because they weren't fitted properly. Take the extra time, spend the extra money, and get a pair of shoes you can live with. I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase here and recommend them to anybody looking for a good pair of athletic shoes. read more

I've been to several similar shops in Tucson and Phoenix while trying to fit my wide, flat feet. I've found that most of these shops have problems with snobby or inattentive employees. Consequently, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly, focused service I got from Ryan. All these five-star reviews are right on! As a novice runner, it's always been an intimidating experience buying shoes (not only novice, but also heavier than the average runner). Endless patience, helpful advice and in the end, me walking out with an awesome pair of shoes (pink! bonus!) and socks (where have Belegas been all my life?!) is pretty win. In the past, I've worn neutral shoes. Today, I learned that maybe a slight stability shoe would be useful. They feel /very/ different than what I've worn in the past, but I was assured that if after trying them and they just don't work, I can bring them back! I called first to ask if they carried injinji socks, and the person on the phone (female) was friendly and responsive. When I went to the store, I found the socks, picked out a couple pairs, checked out hats and impulse bought one, and then got in line, without interacting with a single employee. Normally I'm down with that, but when it was my turn in line to ring up, the associate straight up walked away from the register without saying a word to me, and I stood there looking around until another customer who was being helped was ready to ring, at which point that employee looked around to try to find someone to help me (as she obviously wanted to get to the customer she'd been helping) but then begrudgingly/aloofly rang me up first. It was super weird, to the point where I asked if they work on commission or something and that's why nobody wanted to help me bc I wasn't buying $hoes. I work customer service, I'm low maintenance, but when the first chick walked away from the reg without acknowledging me waiting, not even a "hold tight I've gotta run to the back", and then the chick who rang me also didn't acknowledge that that's sub par..thumbs down across the board. Fleet Feet how I love you so. I hate buying shoes. Hate hate hate it. Hate it so much I haven't bought any shoes in at least 2 years! I might as well have been walking barefoot. So obviously I was long overdue. I was finally pushed into looking for a pair when I got shin splints from running last week. Perused Yelp and found Fleet Feet had some amazing reviews so I decided to stop by before I had to head to work. I don't think I have EVER had such great customer service in my life! The minute I walked in someone came over to help me out. I know absolutely nothing about shoes, but he was awesome about explaining everything to me. Measured my feet and walked on their fancy treadmill (god my calves looked huge -sadface-) and found out my feet turn inwards when I walk which explains my shin splints. He helped me try out a ton of shoes with the proper support until I finally found one I liked. Overall he must have spent at least an hour with me, but he was super patient and awesome. I ended up buying/spending more then I had anticipated, but it was worth it! Love this store and I will definitely be back. :) read more

I just started running in preparation for a half marathon later this year. I read online about how important it is to have proper fitting running shoes to prevent injury and aid in proper running form. I went to Fleet Feet of Tucson to get fitted for shoes and planned on buying them elsewhere for cheaper. It turned out that the shoes was comparably priced (and the one on one customer service was stellar) so I ended up going back later the same day to purchase the shoes that they recommended. A few weeks later, I noticed that I was still having some pain (but only in one leg instead of both). I took the shoes and asked Mary (my fit specialist) to reevaluate my gait to see if it was the shoes or if it was me. It turned out that the shoes were a little to aggressive for me and they exchanged my shoes without a problem!!! I would certainly recommend Fleet Feet to anyone who asks. I bought some Altra shoes there. Very cheap shoes at a large price. When I went back and lodged my complaint and showed them the shoes, I was informed the two month warranty period was over. Two months! No proration. I was told I could talk to the manager with a look on the girls face like "we'll put it in the round file". There are other good stores around, save yourself the grief. read more
