I almost always take the train to Fleetwood if I'm going home because it's closer to my aunt's house in Bronxville. Bronxville Station however, is located downtown- Haha, there is no "downtown" in Bronxville - the entire village is a speck on the map, albeit a beautiful one. This is where the food, gym, clothing stores, coffee shops and bakery are located. There's the post office, a few churches and Starbucks or Slave to the Grind, if you want something different and local. There's an ACME (I believe) grocery store that used to be Shop Rite (or A&P) and hopefully it has better offerings than its predecessor. This station is steps away from just about everything Bronxville has to offer you, including being near the Sarah Lawrence campus. If you're hungry, there's Sammy's Downtown Bistro and their sister restaurant Rosie's Bistro Italiano. There's a small movie theater, which actually houses the Bronxville Community Church on Sunday mornings, and if you need a taxi when you step off the train....no worries, my friend. The Bronxville Taxi depot is attached to the station and always has cars ready to go. **Bonus, Bronxville Taxi is one of the few in the Lower Hudson Valley that accepts debit/credit cards- hallelujah!

Average Metro North Train Station…read more Been using this location for my Metro North (Harlem Line) use since the late 80's. Not too much has changed other than some cosmetic differences on the platform. The best modification was the digital board they added with the schedule (Grand Central bound side only) - relying on the garbled speakers always sucked. At least the train fare went to something decent.....because it doesn't go to the actual rail service or their schedules. Inside is drab and blah. Sometimes it smells, sometimes it doesn't. I never bothered with the store/eatery inside or any of the overpriced vending machines. They have 2 ticket machines inside, but probably need 2 more since the IQ challenged sometimes tend to take a much longer time to operate the simple machine. There is a booth inside with an agent sometimes, but for anyone in the early morning or evening would be out of luck. There is some slight parking about a block from station, but the area isn't an area I'd want to leave a car at night. At night, sometimes shady characters can be inside or outside the station. During any time here, there are also some strange people.....but that's everywhere. There's one thin stairwell (one stairwell for each side) for exiting passengers and depending on how crowded the train is, it could be a few minutes before you can exit. There is a cab stand across the street and the cab drivers will be on top of most exiting train riders, but I guess it's their job. There's not much room for cars to wait for people they're picking up. There is the 7 bus across the street for the station - but much like the Metro North itself, the bus can be late at times. There are much better stations and much worse stations, but this isn't too bad.

Walking through the station it looks like a drab dungeon. If your new to the area there are usually a few cabs waiting outside the station if needed.

It's always on time and it is cheaper. About 25cents each way. This ferry runs on its own schedule and is never on time. The captain of the ferry I take loves to hit the dock when he comes in. You are jolted around. Take the ferry before the one you think you should take so you can get to city in time for whatever you want to do. At $336 a month this Another week and more delays. The 915am ferry is not here. Can't even see it coming. This is the WORST FERRY IN THE WORLD!!!

Aaah yes, taking the ferry home on a Friday that also happens to be a prematurely warm and sunny not-quite-spring day. The ferry is too expensive to be a part of my daily commute. Comparing the $5.50 ride from World Financial Center to Jersey City (Paulus Hook) with the $1.75 PATH ride between World Trade Center and Exchange Place, you can see why the ferry is the Rich Man's PATH. Or, the poor man's cruise ship. Even the ferry terminal at World Financial Center is luxurious, at least compared to a PATH station. It's floating, and has a little balcony on the water where you can soak up that precious March sun while you wait for your ship to come in. It even had a nice clean bathroom, if you can handle the motion of the ocean. The PATH can't compare. The ferry ride takes about the same amount of time as the PATH ride (7 minutes from WFC to Paulus Hook). But unlike the five minutes you'll spend on the PATH, you can feel the salty wind in your hair, and the sun on your face, unless of course you get the boat where the upper level has been enclosed. But, still, you can pretend your itinerary takes you to somewhere more exotic than your average PATH stop... maybe Venice. A tourist you're not, but remember that some people travel far and wait a lifetime to glimpse these sights... the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Colgate clock, the tallest building in New Jersey, the tallest building in New York, cruise ships and tall sailing ships, all that and you can be home in time for dinner.
