It's the worst. They bill themselves as the best ferry in the world but they are wrong. I've taken the Hong Kong ferry to commute to work and it is a lot better. It's always on time and it is cheaper. About 25cents each way. This ferry runs on its own schedule and is never on time. The captain of the ferry I take loves to hit the dock when he comes in. You are jolted around. Take the ferry before the one you think you should take so you can get to city in time for whatever you want to do. At $336 a month this Another week and more delays. Is there anything better, on a prematurely warm and sunny not-quite-spring day than taking the ferry home? Aaah yes, taking the ferry home on a Friday that also happens to be a prematurely warm and sunny not-quite-spring day. The ferry is too expensive to be a part of my daily commute. Comparing the $5.50 ride from World Financial Center to Jersey City (Paulus Hook) with the $1.75 PATH ride between World Trade Center and Exchange Place, you can see why the ferry is the Rich Man's PATH. Or, the poor man's cruise ship. Even the ferry terminal at World Financial Center is luxurious, at least compared to a PATH station. It's floating, and has a little balcony on the water where you can soak up that precious March sun while you wait for your ship to come in. It even had a nice clean bathroom, if you can handle the motion of the ocean. The PATH can't compare. The ferry ride takes about the same amount of time as the PATH ride (7 minutes from WFC to Paulus Hook). But unlike the five minutes you'll spend on the PATH, you can feel the salty wind in your hair, and the sun on your face, unless of course you get the boat where the upper level has been enclosed. But, still, you can pretend your itinerary takes you to somewhere more exotic than your average PATH stop... maybe Venice. A tourist you're not, but remember that some people travel far and wait a lifetime to glimpse these sights... the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Colgate clock, the tallest building in New Jersey, the tallest building in New York, cruise ships and tall sailing ships, all that and you can be home in time for dinner. read more

The WORST! They don't care at all about the Edgewater ferry , ferry is always late! Most times by 30 minutes and their boats are always breaking down! They also train their customer service and people working at the window to lie to you and be misleading about information. This whole organization is a monopoly and once they have your money they don't care about you. Honestly it's better to take the bus. read more

I'm going to preface this review by stating that I am a reasonable person. I understand NY Waterways cannot control the weather. Therefore they cannot control the ice on the Hudson River, but hear me out: My wife purchased a February monthly pass for $293.75 for direct service from Edgewater to NYC. We purchased this pass with the reasonable expectation that the service would be available. For several days now, the service from Edgewater has not been running due to ice. As opposed to offering a partial refund, they are not refunding a dime and their defense is that they are offering alternative service to Port Imperial (several miles away) then a NJ transit bus. Not acceptable NY Waterway! If you are going to charge $300.00 for something you better be able to deliver. I've initiated a dispute with my financial institution and will be writing a formal complaint to the governing authorities. read more

It may not be the cheapest method of travel but it is definitely the most convenient from Edgewater to Midtown Manhattan. Free shuttle bus to the Ferry that stops at all of the NJ Transit bus stops. Ferry ride from Edgewater takes between 10-15 mins to 39th street and the west side. The downside with Edgewater is that it runs on a limited schedule in the morning and evening. Otherwise your only other Ferry option is at Port Imperial / Weehawken. The Edgewater ferry is also smalller but still adequate. They have an iphone app for the ferry schedule and any other advisories which is a plus and you can purchase E-tickets as well. read more

This ferry terminal is whack compared to Port Imperial. It doesn't run on weekends, it has one slip, they run every 30 min, it stops after 7:30 pm, the terminal itself is empty, they charge more, and it takes longer. Got to use to the awesome convenience of Port Imperial to midtown and now miss that. read more

As I walk the Winter streets of New York and take note of those who sacrifice warmth for trying to be cute, a smile comes to my face and I shake my head. When the temperature drops and that cold wind is trying its best to run right up yo ass the best thing I know is to stay toasty! Look, here comes another one. Sniffling and shivering and shit. Feel like shakin em and saying don't you realize it's fa-reezing out here! Mutha-fuck cute! Me, I'm layered like a mummy. Got my warmest skimmer on, the one with the drop down ear flaps, and my scarf. Wearing my lined jeans, my long sleeve thermal under my wool long sleeve shirt. And, broke out my warmest winter coat, finished it off with my gloves and thinking all the warm thoughts I can muster. A brutha ain't playing out here in this cold. Cute is for summertime. Speaking of warm thoughts and summertime, (excuse the blunt segue), one of New York Waterway's best kept secrets is the ferry ride from Hoboken or NYC to Sandy Hook. Dweena and I work this spot several times during the summer! We catch that first ferry out and my woman has her cute little summer outfits on, showing her sexy legs. Mmmmmmm! Mercy! We head up and sit on the top deck. Chillin while the sun and ocean breeze wrap them self around and comfort us. You can bring your bike on the ferry so some times we bike it. Next time we switch it up and hit the beach, frolic and Swim in the surf. We've hiked the trails and explored...Well mostly find secluded places and kiss, but how ever we do, at some point we always stroll across that long ass bridge into Atlantic Highlands and hit up one of the many seafood spots before we catch that last ferry home. Advice, Tips and Cautions. Great for flying kites, Fishing, Swimming, Hiking and Biking. There's a food trucks or two every now and again but unless your biking and willing to ride to Sea Bright, or feel like walking across the bridge into Atlantic Highlands like Dweena and myself do, bring water and a snack. If your goal is to get brown, then you are in the right place. However for the pigmentally challenged, sun block is a necessity. Sandy Hood is a flat peninsula, there's not a whole lot of shade. Yes there is a bay on one side and the ocean on the other, but don't over look the fact that it gets HOT on the hook and its mad SUNNY. Dress comfortably. Oh and don't be alarmed, but there is also a clothing optional beach at the hook....Dweena's kicking me under the table as I write this so, that's all I'm gonna say about that. Forget about expecting the Ferry buses on your way back during off peak hours. I just walked on 49 st from 5th Av to the Ferry terminal on 36 st. Good exercise, poor service. read more

It's a bit ridiculous that they raise the commuting fee, give us a bigger piece of crap boat with NO air conditioning and the staff thinks it is hilarious.... If you are going to charge monthly fees as high as they are, fix the AC... it's called customer satisfaction in giving them what they pay for... or reduce the rate and give us the small boat with working AC back! I'd much rather not get on the boat with working AC as it is full than get on a half full boat with NO Air conditioning! Stop being so flipping CHEAP!! What would make the company care about Edgewater service? How can you charge more than $10 and be late by 20-30 minutes? The ferries run late because there's only ONE ferry that goes back and forth. The ferry is always packed and even more people will take the ferry from Fort Lee / Edgewater area if YOU ARE MORE RELIABLE. Increase the number of ferries so that it runs more frequently and on time as you advertise. False advertisement isn't just annoying people, it's breaking the law. read more

This ferry is mostly used by commuters as it only runs on weekdays with limited schedules. The ferry runs every 30 minutes and a lot of people depend on it to get to work on time. And this is what makes this review one star. The ferry is late some times and there are times that it's significantly late. But it is understandable since things happen. What is not acceptable or understandable is that the ferry leave early with people ALREADY arrived at the dock and there was no explanations. In addition, they some times change the size of boat during rush hour and it can't fit everyone. read more

The most expensive ferry and the most unreliable service. The morning ferry comes late every day. The 8:45 AM pulls in at 8:57 on average now. When myself and several other commuters called customer service they did not apologize nor attempt to resolve or explain nor escalate. They push it back on the customer and say you have to call us everyday. It leaves Midtown late as well. The 6:30 PM ferry is reliably late. There are cameras at every dock so they should be aware that customers are speaking the truth when we call to say how late it is. For $300+ dollars a month, your ferry should be on time. You don't have traffic as an excuse. Very unsatisfied with their highway robbery I don't care attitude and service. read more

615am ferry didn't show up again. No apology and no consideration for the passengers. Second time in 1 month when the ferry didn't show. No announcement via broadcast system and no one answers at Help centre. Mechanical issues happen but someone needs to ensure people are properly trained in customer relations. read more

This service is not worth it, they are too unorganized. The ferry is fine but their shuttle service is terrible. Its not worth the $$ and doesn't save any aggravation when it comes to commutting! Don't bother just use the port authority and the subway. read more
