I stepped out of my comfort zone to do group training and it has been everything I didn't know I needed. The women I train with are amazing. Jordan is tough and doesn't let you do the bare minimum. She does check-ins each week and has a channel where all her clients can talk. Jordan has been a blessing and I'm so glad she's my trainer.

A few months ago I was in a bad place-I WFH and was going from being at my desk all day mentally drained to laying down with no energy and getting bad sleep day after day. I've always been a bit overweight but I had put on an extra 20 lbs, and at my heaviest ever I just felt uncomfortable in my skin. I would eat takeout for most meals and would randomly feel limb numbness or feel winded doing simple tasks. That's when I found V and everything changed. TBH the gym was always so intimidating to me but Vanessa will show you how to use the equipment, ensure you have proper form & adjust weight as you get stronger. We had Sterling AB as our instructor and he was great - high energy, kept everyone motivated. I will say, the red lights were intimidating at first as a first-timers, but you get used to it. They have a great HIIT system alternating between the treadmills and the floor exercises. You get a WORKOUT! But what is lovely, they give you different levels so you can decide how hard or easy you want your workout to be. I was in the lower intensity levels and because it was my first class with them, I still felt VERY sore the next day, in a great way! The amenities were great - we used the showers afterwards to go to brunch together. They have great shampoo/conditioner/shower gel. And the locker room is spacious enough that you feel comfortable getting ready in there - especially in the large mirror area. This Barry's is in the 2nd and PCH shopping center, so you get 90 minutes of parking for free, which is great for a 50 minute class.

Javi and Courtney and all the other coaches I've had the chance to train with all are there to push you to do your best without overdoing it. I appreciated how they eased me in. Two years later, I'm still hooked and have seen a lot of progress in my strength and overall fitness! They also have community events every couple months that are very fun to join. To say the Annex has changed mine and my now husband's life would drastically downplay it. There is no where else I would gladly be at at 6:30am except the Annex. Caitlin Hogan has created one of the most inclusive places I've ever spent my time. On days I don't show up for myself, my coach Nic texts me to check in. He is kind, warm, brilliant and loves to make fun of me as much as I love to make fun of him. On days I do show up I know I will always be pushed to be the best version of me by my coaches and classmates, but understood if I just want to sit in silence that day if I'm hurt or going through something. Caitlin also offers meal coaching which has helped get my husband and I in the best shape of our lives (he's lost and kept off 40lbs) and she has shown us the tools on how to continue to take care of ourselves outside of the gym. Caitlin also has taught me how to delay dying with weekly Kinstretch classes. It's a movement enhancement system that develops maximum body control, flexibility and usable range of motion. My body thanks me often when I go regularly and gets mad at me when I take too long of a delay. If you are looking for a new place to work out, look no further.
