When the bus doesn't show up on time or within 30 minutes, it most likely won't show. Don't expect an update via email as per their policy. You can try to get a refund, but they'll give you a shitty voucher meaning they're taking your money and expecting you to utilize their services again. *Flixbus has no customer service. Just emails to tell you that there is nothing they can do to address your questions and concerns. Relying on Flixbus was a mistake. I had a successful trip 50% of the time. read more

TLDR: Safe, clean, timely. May be slightly confusing for first-time users. Toilet was not stocked with tissue paper during one of my trips. Overall, good experience and would recommend. I read a lot of bad reviews about Flixbus before using it and was almost dissuaded from the service altogether. However, it was significantly less expensive than Amtrack, so I decided to stick with it. Note: Exact location of bus and boarding instructions are sent the day of your trip, check out their website for more details because this aspect confused me a bit my first time using it. I took a direct bus from San Francisco to San Diego. The bus was a little crowded, but it was an over night trip so I was able to fall asleep for most of it. No complaints, no problems with my luggage, perfectly on time. I took a transfer bus back from SD to LA. Here was my only problem: the bus was out of toilet paper. Thankfully, it wasn't that long of a ride, but I do feel that it is their responsibility to CHECK restrooms before leaving a station. That is the ONLY reason they didn't receive five stars from me. I stopped for an hour in LA (next to a killer taco truck) then hopped on the next bus to SF. Luckily, this time there is toilet paper. I recommend Flixbus to anyone traveling up or down California, especially from SF to LA because tickets are very reasonable. They're even less expensive if you leave on a week day. read more

Over an hour later, the bus was recheduled and they changed the seats we paid for and then refused to change them when asked. The pick up location for the bus was also changed without warning, making us and several passengers miss the bus completely. Customer service doesn't pick up the phone (no surprise). I am on a FLIXBUS right now (SUNDAY AUGUST 10-MONDAY AUGUST 11 ; BUS N2003 San Francisco to Los Angeles 10:00PM-5:05AM) This bus ride is scary and rough. High speeds, excessive hard breaking, unlike the bus ride (from LA to SF) on Friday, in which there was more traffic, yet the driver was more light-footed. The toilet is full of toilet paper and when I told the driver about it at the stop, she says that there is nothing she can do about it. The driver on Friday fixed the situation when another customer brought a similar situation to his attention. Tonight has been a horrible experience. I don't know if there is an equipment failure on this nighttime bus, but the air condition is not being used (as during the Friday FlixBus ride). Instead, the driver has opened the upper vent and there is a LOT of air blowing directly into the back of the bus (highly uncomfortable at high speeds). I love the idea of going green and conserving, but I don't know what to make of this experience versus Friday's but wouldn't chance this horrible experience again. I'll just drive to SF next time. Took the bus from la to San Jose. I got on the USC stop which is literally on the corner of 35th and hope. There's no sign or anything so just stand at the corner and you'll see the bus. The driver was very efficient and helpful, bus was clean and decently comfortable, not too crowded. For the price, I didn't expect a luxury ride, my only complaint is that the website says there's WiFi on board the bus but there was no WiFi at all. Went to stop anyway time came and went with arrival time remaining one hour later than planned. Went across the street to get a drink for my daughter to take on the bus and the bus came and went within those 15 minutes. Time didn't update until they pulled out. We received no updates or notification besides the first. This one hurt. I've been stranded by the bus before, but never left out in the cold, literally. Five minutes after the bus was supposed to take off I get an email that there has been a delay with the bus and no update on when it should appear. So we wait patiently on the last scheduled bus of the night, until about an hour later I get an email saying the bus was cancelled, no backup, no alternative accommodations, just directions on how to claim a voucher for the trip and reschedule.. With an early flight scheduled to take of in the morning, the night was pretty much ruined for me. I had to spend $300+ in lyft and parking fees to make my flight on time, not to mention the hours wasted waiting out in the cold. Never mind no toilet paper in the bathrooms or drivers never announcing stops or times, our bus tonight was over two hours late and customer service kept denying a refund because we still needed the ride. Our bus driver ignored a guest asking about ETA and snapped at her saying, "You have a phone." He continued to be very rude to this guest, even going as far to say he bet her life was terrible. I eventually spoke up for her when he tried to kick the guest out (for being angry at HIS unprofessionalism) on the highway at 2:30am. I try not to complain on many services but was pretty poor and frustrating. Not only did the bus arrive late but, it was filthy, outlets didn't work. When arrived there was a big argument with a passenger that was already on the bus with the driver and ended with the passenger getting kicked off. All of those things I was able to let it go but the big issue was they gave away my assigned seat that I paid extra for!!! I did that so I wouldn't have that issue! I Explained to the driver and was just rude for no reason and just told me to sit anywhere. Didn't want to cause a scene so I just sat then the passenger i had to sit next to was also upset strangely at me. This is was one of the worst traveling experiences I've had to date. I don't believe all of the experiences are like this, but my wife and I had one of the worst travel experience ever. From being stranded on the side of the road for hours, having to walk miles to another station because our driver didn't know what to do. Being threatened to pay again, when we never got to travel fully. Being hung up on by multiple customer service agents, being in fear for our life during the breakdown, etc. I do not advise anyone take a trip without doing your homework first. Was waiting for an hour in the 120 deg palm springs heat for a bus that never showed up. 20 minutes after the scheduled departure, a message was sent saying "Unfortunately, your trip has an unknown delay". And then, 36 minutes after the scheduled departure, a subsequent message was sent saying "we are very sorry but we had to cancel your ride." No explanations given whatsoever. They give rebooking options for free, but the nearest station for the alternative ride was 6 miles away. So alas, I had to find a way to get to the other station which ended up costing more money. I attempted to chat with a representative through their online chat but that was useless. All they said was "sorry, we can't do anything for you." No wonder this company has horrendous reviews... So the bottom line: sure, flixbus is cheap and the ride is decent. But you'd better have a backup option and some extra dough in your pocket if you want to make sure you get where you need to go. read more

PROS: Cheapest way to travel LA--Vegas. My bus was a Volvo, so pretty nice. Huge windows, acceptable legroom for a 6-footer. Map to departure point accurate. Departed on time. Good driver, though he didn't always keep both hands on the steering wheel, and occasionally texted. Power at seats. CONS: No wifi. Onboard toilet marked "out of service," though I eventually learned that we could pee. No other toilet available for 2 1/2 hours. Driver spoke virtually no English. I've used FlixBus for several trips now and it appears as though the quality of the service continues to plummet ride after ride. Booking rides is easy. Thank god for that, because nothing else is efficient: 1) I've booked maybe about 8 rides and I believe 3 have gotten canceled. That's a 37.5% rate of cancelation if you can't do the math; clearly FlixBus can't because I don't understand how you could live with your business being as unreliable as this. 2) They send you weird cryptic emails about things that don't exist. A few days ago I went on a trip and after we had arrived, I noticed that I received an email that a ride had been canceled (they don't tell you which one in the email). I assumed it was one of my later bookings, so I did all the logging in stuff to find that none of my future bookings were canceled. Confused, I contacted a friend who told me that she also received the same email. She had no other rides booked besides one (which has now been completed), so if we identify the common denominator - it's the ride we had JUST taken together! How could this be? Were we all hallucinating? The best part about this is that I received ANOTHER email saying that FlixBus is sorry my bus has broken down and that the trip cannot continue any longer?? Just a reminder, I was already in LA, my destination. I can't even wrap my head around how errors like these could occur. Blows my mind. 3) The buses and drivers. The buses aren't in good condition but they're bearable. All of my drivers so far have been quick with checking everyone in (because they half-ass it and don't check ID or anything else the company claims to check, but I'm fine with it.) and they're just whatever in terms of customer service but I'm not expecting them to grin from ear to ear and make small talk with every passenger. Some of them drive crazy though. I had this one driver who would cut drivers off on 5 lane highways (bold for a bus) and would get visibly upset when another vehicle would merge into their lane even with plenty of space ahead (cars HAVE to merge onto a highway by the way. That's how roads work.). She cussed and slammed her hands against the steering wheel a couple of times too. She also almost drove us into another truck on the freeway. People screamed. People held on for dear life. She just swerved a bit and kept going unapologetically. 4) Punctuality and accuracy. It's a 50/50 whether the bus will be on time or not. The app is supposed to tell you the status of the bus but it's not really accurate. On one occasion, the bus was nowhere to be found minutes past departure time. Other passengers looked around a bit and discovered that the bus was waiting for us outside the train station we were supposed to board at so we all had to haul our luggages outside the station to board the bus. FlixBus never sent us an email, message, update on the app, etc. about the change in boarding location - thank god I was with lots of other passengers who were willing to walk around a bit together to find the bus. Additionally, I just took a trip to Santa Barbara and while there were a billion issues with this ride one that I just thought of now is that it was supposed to make a stop at Ventura and it literally didn't. It was fine for me because I wasn't getting off at Ventura but imagine if that was your stop???? and the bus just kept going??????? I'm breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about it. 5) Crazy story: I went to LA over this past weekend. I booked a ride back for 6:30 AM from LA to UCSB for today, Monday, October 31 (Happy Halloween!). After rallying through Halloweekend, waking up at 5:30 AM, getting ready as quickly yet quietly in the dark as to not wake up my friend and her roommates in their classic triple, I headed out to the bus stop with hopes and dreams and a gulp of water down my stomach. I waited in the dark for about 30 minutes, to the end of which I started getting mega anxiety. During these minutes, I checked through my emails, the FlixBus app, the website, etc. to see if I had missed a cancelation or delay update, only to find out in the depths of the web app that there was a cancelation invoice for this ride. Don't even know when it was updated because I never received any notification; I even got an email mere hours before reminding me about the trip. So I walked back & was stranded outside the dorms because it was 6:30 AM. I then booked another trip for later today. I'm now back safe but not sound. Because of the customer service. 6) I have no more space so I'm making this short. Customer service reps on phone are slow (AKA stupid) and have zero compassion. Live chat: nobody responds so system ends chat automatically. Refund request form: asks for credit card info before even connecting me to a person???? When I learned that the Amtrak tracks were washed out between LA and San Diego, I began looking for alternatives. Airfare was over $350 OW. An Uber would be around $200. I booked with Flixbus for $15 and upgraded to a second side by side seat for just $7 more...The bus was actually operated by greyhound but my booking went perfectly with seat assignments . The bus was as comfortable as an airplane and having a row to myself was great. The wi fi was too slow to use but the electrical outlets worked fine and there was a toilet too as advertised. The Long Beach terminal was sparse but clean and the driver was nice and the bus essentially ontime. Overall it was a great value for the price paid. read more

Most disgusting ride ever in my life! Offering this bus "service" to people is just insulting! Let's share some details; I live in San Diego and work remotely for an organization in LA. I go there once every blue moon, mainly for company events when I can socialize with my coworkers. I hate driving in LA traffic (duh!) and Amtrak is currently having some problems in San Clemente, so if I took the train, I would have to change multiple carriers (train, bus and train again). I wanted to make the experiment to go there by bus... big mistake! 1) Booked the ride starting at 3:00PM from Old Town... it was cancelled 2 hours before the trip! Ok, they offered either a refund or reschedule it and I chose the second option (already booked the hotel in LA). 2) Arrived to Old Town, THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF ANY FLIXBUS STOPS! Thankfully a very kind MTS driver told me where to wait for the bus... a curb in front of a porta potty... and it was not a joke! 3) The rescheduled trip was supposed to start at 2:30PM... it started at 3:44PM! 4) It was operated by Greyhound... that says a lot about the hygiene of the bus (I counted at least three chewing gums attached to the ceiling)... thankfully I had a lot of wipes with me that turned black after I wiped my seat. There were also empty cans left by previous passengers, that means that the cabin is never cleaned between rides. 5) PAYING EXTRA TO BOOK YOUR SEAT IS A JOKE! Passengers don't care and the policy is not enforced. Some passengers themselves are questionable, although this is not FlixBus fault... I guess. 6) I love dogs... I really do... but I don't like to have them sitting on the same seats used by people 7) the driver seemed a convict from Sing Sing, yelling to other drivers while driving! Some significant training or re-training (I would consider brain washing!) is necessary. I couldn't imagine that coming back could be even worse! 1) The bus was not operated by FlixBus (again!), it was a company called Travel-something... 2) The bus was simply disgusting... compared to that, the Greyhound bus was a luxury van! I was even worry to have fleas on my hair and I stayed in the same position for 2+ hours because I didn't dare to touch anything! (see attached pictures to prove it!). 3) It was hilarious to see two German tourists asking information to the driver... you can imagine his assistance... I wish I taped it! When I came home, I was tempted to have a shower with bleach! On 10/16/22 I was waiting in Dallas for a return bus trip to Houston. The bus was supposed to leave Dallas at 5:55pm. At 6:10 pm we were alerted that our bus trip was to be canceled. The only thing that FlixBus did after stranding me on a Sunday night in Dallas, was to refund my ticket. Nothing else. Nothing above and beyond to try to retain a customer.... just, "here's your $25... have a fun night in Dallas". Their terms and conditions state that if I had taken another bus route or train that they could have refunded the difference, but what other bus route or train is available late on a Sunday night. (Here's a clue... NONE). So after a $202 Uber ride back to Houston... FlixBus let me know that they don't want any of my future business, by doing absolutely nothing for me. Oh, and there was never a reason provided as to why the original bus trip was canceled 15 minutes after it was supposed to depart. Your guess is as good as mine. So if you are trying to save money by going with a cut-rate service like FlixBus... do so at your own risk. I could have taken Greyhound for about $25 more... but instead, it cost me $200 to get home that night. read more

Please avoid this company at all costs and learn from my experience. I thought they were a cost-effective option, but on my recent trip the driver wouldn't take me to the destination I had purchased. I was dropped off twenty miles from my stop and the driver did not care what my ticket said. The "ticket kiosk" near Union Station in Los Angeles is in a food truck, so of course the people working there don't have any information about the drivers, their dispatch, or customer service. I have been emailing Flixbus customer support about this ride and they don't seem to find it even a little bit upsetting that their drivers don't finish their routes. They said "because the ticket has been used we can not refund your money back." So because they took me most of the way they are calling it all good?? Horrible experience and I hope someone reading this can avoid a similar problem. Round trip dtla to strip Las Vegas. The bus was comparable to airlines economy seat. The only draw back was the bathroom, on our way to Las Vegas theres no toilet paper, on our way back the bathroom door locks/ broken so the driver has to schedule extra stop for people to use the bathroom and that cause an hour delay. The driver are nice, the only thing I didn't.like besides the bathroom is that people don't respect the rules, both way my reserved seat were taken and I had to ask them to move. Bottom line: it's cheap, I didn't have to do the 6 hours drive or pay to check the suitcase..I just did my shopping, have fun pack everything and just have to be there on time. Currently on the bus, with someone playoff loud music and singing along. Then she'll be on the phone with someone in Los Angeles at each stop speaking loudly and on speaker phone. The last stop a guy gets off the bus to 'have a smoke' the entire bus load of people had to wait for him to finish his smoke. After making a reservation from Bakersfield CA to Fresno CA and getting to the stop half an hour early, no bus came. I called 20 min after it was supposed to arrive and they told me it had already gone by... that was a lie, I had been sitting there for almost a full hour at that point. I had a booking from Las Vegas to Los Angeles on 26th Mar 2024. 8.55 am. They cancelled the service and I had to call them and be with them for 20 mins. Rebooked to a 9.55 am service. Cancelled that too. And third time too they were offering a rebooking but cannot assure it won't be cancelled. Horriblest of all that I have ever witnessed. The driver clearly saw them...and as they tried to get him to open the door...he started the bus and left them stranded., I looked at my watch. There were 21 seconds left to the departure time. I was enraged the entire ride home......angry at myself for not calling out the driver out. The driver is paid to serve the customers. A good driver would have immediately opened the door...especially since they could be anyone's children or grandchildren waiting to meet their families at their destination. We arrived in Hartford 10 minutes early....enough time to have let these children onto the bus. Either upper management does not supervise their drivers or they do not hold them accountable for their bad behavior I am 75. I no longer allow injustice and BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE... to go unacknowledged. I go to as many sites as possible..to place my review...hoping that other people will find alternative transportation services where they can be treated with respect and dignity. FYI Flixbus is a German Company. ......In Europe public transportation is excellent because it is how the average person travels because it is so inexpensive. If the owners were aware of the bad drivers being hired in the US, the drivers should be fired immediately. That would be my suggestion I have placed over 7 reviews. To be honest it's $27 one way to where you need to go and it's always going to where you need to go at great timing! The bus showed up about 10 mins late but I understand due to picking up other passengers. I got from La to Az early actually and didn't have any trouble on the bus. The driver was tired, I could tell in his eyes but he drove. It was a clean bus. Sat in front. Would do it again. Only thing is it's cold and you need to bring some warm clothes and blankets. read more

My daughter had paid for a ticket for a bus that was supposed to arrive at 9:25 PM. She arrives at the station and there was no bus she received a text from Flixbus telling her that the bus had been delayed for 90 minutes. She called to confirm this was accurate, and was assured it was. She left the station and checked the status 30 minutes later to find out that the bus had arrived and left without her, and there were no other options that day. She had received no notification of the change in schedule. Flixbus's response was "oh well, the bus can show up at any time. " read more

Horrible I understand that the bus will be late on a holiday weekend, so while that's annoying, it's not the issue. The toilet on the bus was clogged, and it was like riding in an outhouse. The driver did something (honestly, I can't stand the idea of looking), but told us that if he can "hold it ", we ought to be able to as well. No. People have different medical issues, and "holding it " may not be possible, and may, in fact, be dangerous. The bus was going from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, and stopped to let off a few people in Barstow, but the driver did not let people off to use clean toilets and get a snack. Maybe that was not in the plan, but if you are already at least 3 hours late, on a really filthy bus, with a rude driver, you can make an exception. Lousy, lousy, just plain lousy read more
