Michael's Flooring Outlet - Our new floor! - Flooring Near Me - Creve Coeur, Missouri

Went to Michaels Flooring a week ago. They wrote up a quote for $3.99 a sq ft. They told me on the sales floor special vents were $100.00, quote said $125.00. Went back in today. They asked me if I was ever in the store before. I said "No". I picked the same floor and they quoted me $4.29 a sq ft. They told me I had to put quarter round next to cabinet(I didn't need that). Salesman seemed to makeup prices as he went along. I will never go in there again. read more

I will never go to Michael's Flooring Outlet solely because of how ANNOYING and immature their commercial is. Michael's Flooring Commercial thinks it's cute to have sexual innuendo implying that the customer got "f*cked at Michael's" but says instead "I got floored at Michaels). The commercial features several middle aged women saying all the different places they got F*cked at Michael's - "I did it in my livinnnngg rooooom!" Screeches one annoying lady. "I finally did it it my kitchen!" Screams another. And what's really weird is they use a ten year old kid to say "don't worry mom, Dad's just jealous everyone's getting floored (f*cked) at Michael's" ... pretty weird. If their goal was to be memorable they certainly succeeded, but for all the wrong reasons. Should I need any flooring needs I will go to a business that doesn't have such an annoying commercial playing every 5 minutes. read more

Two words: Never. Again. Since the day after we first arrived and talked hardwood floors with Charlie four months ago, to today when our floors are being installed (paid for the floor in its entirety, less installation, approximately mid-July!), we feel it has been nothing but poor organization, about zero communication, and all sorts of excuses (none EVER their fault) for when things didn't go according to plan. My husband and I wanted to support a local small business, not a big box, and that is why - even after the very first time we got no return call from Charlie - we decided to stay with Michael's. But listen up - we had a large problem that came up the day of our hardwood installation, when our installer (Shaun, who gets 5 stars, BTW!) informed us that since we had 24" joists, our installation is not under any sort of warranty. Well, unbeknownst to us, we were today informed by Michael's Flooring manger Jason that it is an industry standard - and has been for years and years - that there is no warranty on installation of hardwood flooring laid over 24" joists. Jason told me that Michael's are flooring specialists and are aware of this industry standard, but that it isn't their fault that they didn't know we had 24" joists until today when the installer found it (huh?). Jason actually told me he didn't know how it happened that no one knew until today. He said "...the installers normally find it" (24" joists). When asked if Michael's was a flooring expert and if their experts should have checked for 24" joists, Jason would take NO responsibility. After a series of Q&A, he finally admitted that when their person came out to measure our carpeted floor for hardwood, they -MAYBE- should have check for 24" joists. He just kept repeating that "these things happen" and he sent out his "best technician" to install our non-warranted-for-installation hardwood floor (which we spent thousands on!). He honest-to-goodness would take no responsibility for Michael's not catching this at the get-go. Had we known ahead of time, we would have been able to make more informed decisions about what to put on our floor. I could give you another half dozen examples where Michael's messed up our order and organizing everything but will spare you. If you really want to know, leave me a reply. Just beware before hiring Michael's that it's our opinion that you're not getting the sales experts you might want; there is ZIP accountability for blips. FYI, they were NOT the least expensive of the three places we asked for bids, so it's not like we were trying to take the cheap way out. read more

I wanted to keep my money local so I went to Michael's Flooring who did a good job on my carpet. I explained all the DIY details to Larry at the Dardenne store including a shimmed toilet and uneven concrete floors. No problem. I even decided to pay for install instead of having my son do the work ( my son's floor looks 10 times better). I had to have a plumber come out to install the toilet ( Larry did refund me that money). Long story short, Larry was only in it to make a sale. He didn't care if the uneven floor would be unstable for a floating laminate plank floor and " forgot" about the conversation regarding the toilet. I'm only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the floor itself seems to be decent quality and the installers were good. I won't use this flooring business again and would not recommend. read more

We recently had carpeting installed in our home. Michael's Flooring surpassed expectations. Kim Branneky was our sales agent and she did an awesome job with providing best decisions for our home. The installation team (Hank and Tony) did an excellent installation. Best part was upon completion there was no mess anywhere. We have purchased from Michael's in the past and will continue to be steadfast customer. read more

Ordered flooring for our home and even though we had a great experience 5 years ago with Charlie which is why we went back. We had a horrible experience with Kim and we won't be returning. As a salesman you trust them to do the right thing and help make your vision great and that wasn't the case. She thinks she actually showed my husband a sample which was never the case and instead the shopping was done over a website. That is what was signed off on and she totally ordered something that didn't match. Carpet was already gone, concrete slab, and tells my husband "sunlight will lighten the color," and we might get sick with a 50% restocking fee. Felt like we we were trapped so now we look at something that we never imagined. Buyer beware. The only plus in this whole experience was the crew laying the new flooring. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else and don't deal with Kim. read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE -5 STARS! Horrible company will rip you off. When I worked there I was told to lower the price of the flooring but raise the price in other ways so the company can make more. I'm not the only one. I have talked to 5 other ex employees who were there for years and the owner has stolen money from their employees. They were forced to rip people off and take lower on commission and give the company more. Brian Amon is the owners hand puppet and told me if I wasn't willing to lie to customers and up charge it where people can't see it then I wouldn't make it. Sure enough a week later I was fired because I wouldn't rip off my customers. This company is full of liars and crooks. Brian Amon made several sexual remarks about my 20 year old ex co-worker behind her back. When I said that wasn't cool (I saw her listening to what he said and she was visibly upset.) he said I need to watch out how I talk to him. Needless to say I didn't work there long. This place is horrible do not shop here. read more

Not great at showing up for scheduled appointments. They seem to have a lot of excuses but not great service.

The customer service was exceptional. Shaw couldn't get the color right for my carpet. Charlie and Mark were extremely attentive and went well beyond what was expected to make it right. We also had a new ceramic kitchen floored installed. Great install; attentive, detailed, clean work.and friendly. Extremely pleased with customer service and quality of work! Would highly recommend Michael's Flooring. read more

I had a terrible experience with Michael's Flooring. The salesperson flat out lied about how soon they could have the flooring available for installation; it took three weeks longer than promised and delayed moving into my new home, costing me $$$. The installation was poorly done; my baseboards were ruined and adjacent carpet was cut to short for the doorjambs. When I complained it took weeks, and the resolution was not to my satisfaction. Save yourself a lot of trouble and buy from another flooring company. read more

The advertising drove me to the store, however the prices were $2.01 more per square foot than Home Depot. Sorry, I can't pay 60 percent more for the exact same tile...even to support a local business. read more

Michael's flooring was AWESOME! After using a competitor for our previous house we wish we had gone to Michaels first. Charlie was AWESOME. He took his time to go over the carpeting choices, told us about the various types of carpet available. Went over several samples and wanted to make sure we were happy with our color choice. The install went great, the guys got the job done in one day with no issues whatsoever. We are going back now for kitchen tile and later on for hardwood floors and carpet. The box stores may beat the price, but they can't beat the quality of service we received. Also, at the Creve Coeur store they have a little kid's corner to keep the young ones busy while we shop. read more

Would absolutely never recommend this company. We found the sales people to be rude and disinterested in anything but making a sale. They gave rushed answers that were inaccurate instead of taking the time to get us correct information. Communication was terrible, timelines were constantly delayed, and service was horrendous. They (two employees) refused to order maple wood floor for me because I told them I don't like damaged wood and asked if they would exchange it if it came damaged (the day before). So I drove all the way and they refuse to order. Could they not call me, cancel appointment and tell me they don't want to sell to me? I took my $1800, went to All Surface Flooring on Manchester, ordered the same wood from same manufacturer and it is perfect wood with no defects. Before I purchased, the owner said he guarantees everything he sells. He also gave me discount - just because. Skip Michael's flooring and go to All Surface Flooring on Manchester. They are excellent and they also have a contract with delivery company so you don't have to worry about that. They deliver inside the house too. Michaels' Flooring does not do that either. I feel bad for the owner. He lost $1800 just on me. God knows how much he lost all together because of those two employees. read more

Purchased a ceramic floor for our kitchen from Michael's in August of 2012. Did so on the high recommendations from numerous radio stations, etc. The floor is absolutely beautiful! However, there was damage to the toe kicks under the cabinets. Michael's stated in their agreement that they would replace any damaged toe kicks with ones that matched. They did replace the toe kicks that were damaged but they do not match. Some of the tow kicks did not get damaged so there are two different types under the cabinets. It is now 4 months later. I had to go to a local hardware store myself to find the right match. The installer has been to the house twice and has said he was going to order the correct toe kicks. The sales person has been to the house and agreed they did not match. Still they have not been replaced. While the flooring itself was very well done the attention to detail is lousy. We also had to point out several spots where they forgot to put grout which they did finally fix in December. I will not be visiting Michael's again for any type of flooring. read more

My experience with Michael's Flooring was frustrating and bad. There were problems from beginning to end. I should have paid more attention to the signals I was getting. When I tried to give them my business they would not respond. Once I did manage to get their attention they had given me carpet samples to pick from that would not be manufactured for many weeks and then when that date approached they called and extended the time table into months. I had already given them a small down payment, so I did not want to cancel at this point, but I should have. When the carpet did come in they called to schedule and I thought all would be well, but.....the day arrived and not one showed and no one called. I called them and found that they had put my installation on the wrong day. A day that I already had plans for. They refused to do anything to make up for their errors and the manager is extremely remote. As of today I still do not have my carpet installed, but I'm praying that they do a good job when they do. read more
