Called to let them know that their Bravecto flee medication does not work and guess she thinks we do not clean at home enough after a years treatment because the flea eggs get in bedding and continue to infect the dog. Osburn Vet Clinic was not our usual clinic, as we are full-time travelers. While in Florence, our very senior Australian Shepherd's health suddenly declined. Even though we were strangers to them, the staff at Osburn Vet Clinic took us in without hesitation. They conducted a thorough examination and, with their guidance, helped us through the difficult process of letting our beloved Quincy go peacefully. After 13 wonderful years together, saying "goodbye" was heartbreaking, but the empathy and compassion shown by Dr. Barstow and the entire team were truly remarkable. They provided us with the patience and support we so desperately needed during such a difficult time. I will forever be grateful for their kindness, and if we're ever in need of veterinary care in Lane County again, we will return without a doubt. I had a very disappointing experience. I was left waiting nearly an hour after my appointment time with zero apologies. The Vet was rude and disrespectful and kept repeating how expensive the medications were that she was prescribing. After all that, I was charged twice for one of the medications which was like $87. I truly felt that she cared more about prescribing expensive meds than she did about my dog. It really is a shame that the competing Vet office closed. I will drive an hour or more to never have to see her again. read more

My problem with Osburn is not about the competence of the doctors or the obvious good care they take with the animals. Instead it concerns the business end of the clinic. Two issues have caused me to seek vet care elsewhere. On one occasion I was sent home with a medication that had already been provided by them a few weeks prior to treat an ear infection. When I realized that the $43 bottle was identical to one they had already sold me I immediately contacted them and was informed they could not take the second one back nor refund me my money because "it is against the law." Really? It took three days, another visit to the clinic, considerable argument, and frustration to finally get them to credit me the payment I had made based on their error. Then, when I discovered their prices for prescribed flea and heart worm medication could be beat by 20%, on line through Pet Med, I ordered the products from that source. Pet Med, a large and reputable provider, simply asks the vet to call a toll free number to confirm the prescription. This Osburn refuses to do. The only thing they will provide is a written prescription which must then be mailed to Pet Med. Over the past four months I have paid Osburn over $1,000 in dealing with a new, and really quite healthy, puppy and they won't take five minutes to make a simple phone call? I honestly believe their refusal results from the idea that most people will not go to the trouble necessary to save the 20% and buy the products directly from them. What happened to taking care of a sick animal? Would it have hurt to take in a sick animal other than someone needing vaccines? Or taking extra time at the end of the day. In our hour of need today- Dr. Heather Davis from Osburn Vet Clinic in Florence came through in a HUGE way for our elderly Bichon, Neemo. We adopt senior dogs because not everyone has the schedule/ability to rescue them. But, that means often we don't have a lot of previous health information so we do our best, but Neemo started going downhill last week. We took him to a different clinic and got emergency blood work, exam, and meds a few days ago and nursed him along hoping he'd pull through. Unfortunately we realized it was too late so we made an end if life appointment for Tuesday (tomorrow). Long story short, Neemo was writhing, crying and in great distress today- we felt so helpless calling all over trying to get help. The Osburn clinic was booked but agreed to squeeze us in at 3:30pm. We rushed there and arrived a few hours early but didn't know what else to do- it was obvious Neemo was suffering. We were greeted out at the car by the sweetest gal (sorry I didn't get her name), she did everything she could including calling Dr. Davis who was on her lunch. Dr. Davis came, (off her lunch hour!) we were put in a lovely room with a fluffy comfortable blanket, soft music, clean, and professional. The doctor explained everything, gave him something for pain and let us say our goodbyes. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! These people are Christmas Angels!!!! We want to bring all of our animals here to Dr. Davis and caring staff!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience!! We took our dog here for an ear infection, the vet did not even look in his ear and said "there is no infection" then I asked him why he had teeth missing as my dog is only 2 ( genetic) he said " no all of his teeth are there" the assistant came over and looked and said " yes he has a few teeth missing" so I td the vet that my dog seemed to be allergic to wheat products, he has me buy an oatmeal shampoo that made him 10 times worse .. The best part, I get home look at the bill $65.00 and it says $45.00 was for full body exam .... He touched my dog ONE time to look on his ear, it talked about him palpating organs ???? Unbelievable , I was so furious!! Turned took my dog to Oceanside vet and yes he had an ear infection and skin issues that he needed shots for !! Today was the second time we visited the clinic for our puppy, and this was the second time we incurred excessively long waits to see the doctor for his vaccines. The front office staff spends way too much time on the phone and is not very personable. If they kept to schedule and had a real receptionist then this would be a good choice as the doctor is good with the dog. We took our kitten to be spayed and declawed - was quoted by phone $75 for spay, $65 for declawing plus meds and total was to be $175. We made the appointment and when we picked her up we were told it was going to be $480. They said they did not know she was in heat and scheduled for a neuter as they quoted us the wrong price. We said that was too bad as we told them who and date of quote less than a few days ago. We finally settled on $250 but refused to go back. read more

Even though I only used Osburn Vet Clinic for about year (before I moved away from Florence) they made quite an impression on me. My cat often would get allergic dermatitis reactions (we never did figure out from what) and if a flare-up was allowed to continue for too long, it would snowball into a huge ordeal (he would lick off his hair, which would then cause hairballs/constipation, etc.) Whenever he had a flare-up, the vets at the clinic were FANTASTIC about squeezing him in for a steroid shot as soon as they could that same day. The staff was always so friendly and helpful, and they have a great variety of premium foods available, not just one brand like so many other clinics. The vet techs type up the visit notes as the vet is examining your pet, so you get a print out of everything they did/found before you leave, which is really nice. I did four stars instead of five just because the clinic is really small and the building is kind of old, so the exam rooms are chilly, and there's not as big of separation between the dog and cat waiting areas as in some vet hospitals I've been in, but they do a great job with the space they have. read more

Dr.osbourne barely looked at my dog, we took him in for possible ear infection and he told us no infection without even looking in his ears, I then said aren't you going to look in his ears and then he looked. Great people, very professional. Was in the area on vacation my 3 1/2 yr old Airedale got sick and I was very concerned. The folks there saw me right away and got the dog hydrated and gave me meds. They called the next day and when my pooch was not doing as well as they expected they had me come in for a different med which worked by the end of the day. I wish I had read the ratings beforehand. I WILL NOT RETURN. The worst experience I've ever had. I'm from out of town. I brought my limping dog in. X-rays showed a fracture in the toe. It took forever for them to get back to me about the x-rays. They asked if I wanted coffee while I was waiting because they felt bad. Then, they wanted to splint the entire leg. I waited nearly an hour for them to run around looking for the right size splint. They came in and said they didn't want to splint it in front of me; I found out why. When they brought in the splint, they said they had to use a size bigger since they didn't have the right size. The hard plastic runner they lay the dog's leg in went BEYOND the bend in his front leg and rubbed up into his armpit. I knew then there would be more problems down the road. It slid while splinting the first time, so the tech wanted to resplint it and to pull it down over an inch below his nails! Imagine him banging that extra length around. For the second try (my dog still calm) Kathleen, the tech, wanted to roll him over on his side. I told them that probably wouldn't work, and that I'd be happy to hold him. She plopped him on his side, and he became terrified. She grabbed his three legs all together like they do roping cattle! My once calm pup was not a happy camper. Then, they wanted to sedate him. When I said no, Kathleen rolled her eyes. That did it for me. I was done. I'll get it wrapped elsewhere. Kathleen was unprofessional and borderline cruel. She just wanted the job done. I was there for two hours! Is it any wonder my pup was antsy? BTW: I had it wrapped and the splint is just a short way over the curve in his foot - more like a bootie. It has a walking pad on the end and isn't wrapped with 3 kinds of gauze (hot!) like they wanted to do. I gave them 2 stars because they informed me about the heart problems with dogs on a grain-free diet. We want the best for our furry family members, so I will research this recommendation! read more

On January 26 we took an 8 month chihuahua in to see Dr. Osborn on an emergancy basis. It was around 9:30 - 10:00 PM. We had rescued this puppy and she was pregnant. She was so small we never really knew she was pregant till the very last minute. She was only about 3 to 3 and 1/2 pounds. The vet told us that it would be betwwn $1800 to $2000 dollars for a C-Section. I don't know about anyone else but we didn't have $2000 laying around. We told her that we had money coming in but there was none that night in the bank. At first it was give me the money or let the puppy die a horrible and painful death. She tried to manipulate a puppy that was far too large for this little girl's pelvis. She finally agreed to take a check and hold it until Saturday when there would be funds in the bank. She waited so long to prefom the surgery that the puppy was almost dead and I had to physically breath air of life back into the puppy. Then she started to move and put Oxygen on the puppy. We wanted to stay but were told to go home and they would call when the surgery was over. Well both mother and baby did make it but the next day when we went to pick up the puppy we were told that there was no money in the bank and we had to pay the whole sum before they would give us mother or the baby. My daughter tried to explain what the doctor had said the night before and low and behold the doctor lied and said she had never told us she would hold the check or make payment arrangements. If that isn't bad enough they talked about the problem infront of an office full of people. Where is the professionalism in that. I feel deeply that on two occasions we were being blackmailed in to doing something we didn't want to do. This had nothing to do with the fact that we woulldn't pay in fact that is quite the opposite. We were more than glad to pay for their services. They even told us to bring in a television or computer for collateral. I want to know when the veteriary became a pawn shop. We still don't have our dog and puppy back the are being held hostage until we come up with the money. Then to top it all off if we can't come up with the whole some by Monday they will charge board. How really dumb is that. Why not let us put the money down and make paymenhts. I have worked with many a veteriary service and this has to be the most unprofessional service there is. Had this not been my grand daughter's dog I would have had to say put it to sleep. Even then they take an oath to do no harm and that little puppy suffered for hours before anything to hoep her was done. Had to have my 12 year old Bull Mastiff put down this morning, their receptionist had no compassion whats so ever all she seem to care about money up front. The people at this clinic kept me away from my dying dog even though no emergency treatment was being provided except for hot water bottles. An IV with antibiotics had been inserted but was turned off while I was sitting in the waiting room, worried sick & sad that I was not allowed to be with my dog. There was no valid reason to let my dog die without her best friend as no emergency resuscitative measures were being performed. I was then mailed the vet's notes, including the time of death & a notation indicating that I was allowing the clinic to dispose of my dog's remains (I've never received vet's notes before) & a reminder to bring my (now-deceased) dog back in one year for a wellness check. When I called to ask what was going on I was told that a consolation card had been sent (I never received one) & that vet's notes are not sent. Receiving the reminder for a wellness check along with cold, clinical notations has caused problems with closure and it has been a year and a half. I did give them one more chance. The same vet took an x-ray on my cat & then told me that it did not show anything because the cat had recently been fed. She never asked me when the cat had been fed before the x-ray was taken. I was charged over $90 for this "service." I cannot recommend this clinic because of my experiences. I will never go there again. read more
