It's a beautiful green…read morespace to fish, to bring your dog for a run, to sit under one of the huge oak trees, or to relax on one of a few park benches. There are no amenities here other than trash cans, benches, and disposable bags to pick up after your dog. There is a sidewalk that runs the length of the park, too, and this sidewalk will connect you to Rivercrest Park if you head south on it. If you head north on the sidewalk, it will take you under the bridge at Hillsborough Avenue and connect you to the sidewalk that is on the north side of Hillsborough Ave. Just be cautious when going under the Hillsborough Bridge - that area can be a bit sketchy. It's a tiny park, but still a very pretty secluded space to hang out.

Ignacio Haya Linear Park is located in South Seminole Heights. It (almost) connects Rivercrest Park…read moreto Hillsborough Ave and runs (surprise!) in a line along the river. It's a popular place for people to sit beneath the trees and enjoy the shade and cool breezes along the river. There is a walking trail which is also suitable for kids to ride a bike on. If you're a grown-up you'll ride on the road, which is parallel to the sidewalk. There's a picnic shelter, playground, and grill located at Rivercrest Park but no restrooms. Ignacio Haya Park has no amenities other than a little dirt slope down to the river with a small sign that says "canoe launch". However, it is a nice, quiet, natural oasis in the city. There is space to park along the road. If you're biking north from downtown on Boulevard, follow Osborne, turn onto River, and use the Ignacio Haya sidewalk to go under (across) Hillsborough Ave. You'll be able to ride into "Old" Seminole Heights this way. There is a homeless presence under the Hillsborough bridge in the evenings.

The picnic shelters look pretty good and there is a building near the baseball field that has restrooms and a concession stand. The park has a single entrance/exit onto George Road. This is a nice sports complex run by the county. My kid plays flag football. There are two full…read moresized football fields that the league divides into 4 flag football fields each. The facilities are very new and well-maintained. There are bleachers with enough seating for all the families supporting their kids. Unlike Tampa city public parks, this county park is not dog friendly. That's a bummer. The location is okay, although I wish there was something similar in south Tampa. The parking is a little tight every Friday evening when all flag football fields are being used.

The Sulphur Springs Water Tower is 214 feet (65 meters) tall with a foundation 45 feet deep and has a capacity of 200,000 gallons. It was built in 1927 over the opening to an artesian well. It's an impressive structure that, unless the park somehow is developed into a mixed use condo/retail, should be here for decades thanks to some very heavy duty construction. We arrived early so the kids could enjoy the pre-concert fun, and also so we could get a good spot. There was a ton of (free) parking, which was nicer than the downtown park. However, I noticed a lot of broken glass on the ground, which is not an issue at Julian B Lane. There are not a lot of resources at this park as it's not really used outside of functions. The FLO brought in Port-a-Potties and food trucks. Once the sun set, the place was very dark -- no real built-in lighting, a bit of an issue with uneven ground and no paved walking paths. The setting was buggy, but no worse than anywhere in Tampa. The lit up river tower was very attractive at dusk and after dark. Think of this place as a blank slate, but one where you need to watch where you step.

My fiance and I walked just under 5 miles and the pavement wasnt overly packed with bikers. Everyone is pretty friendly and share the road. We entered from Bruce B Downs but we have used both entrances. The front entrance is more walker/runner friendly since you aren't immediately at the 7 mile loop.

After the…read morebridge, there is an option to turn right, which is a brief path that comes to halt once you reach a creek. There is an option to turn left, which opens up to a paved path. If you proceed to your right on the path (shadier portion. So, my preference :p), you'll have an opportunity to cross the road and continue the paved path, which intermittently offers densely vegetated areas on either side of you.

There are plenty of poop stations along the way which makes it a perfect spot for a long walk with your pup. The trail is open sunrise to sunset and offers beautiful views of the Lake Tarpon Canal.
