RELIEF! This experience was tragic for us. But their experience & confidence in what they do made…read morelife so much easier for us to endure through the process beginning to end. My husband had surgery Dec 8, 2016. Before going in he had been having very high blood pressure, had several episodes of kidney stones, was in chronic pain especially his heels, knees, elbows & wrists, he battled chronic fatigue, sleep apnea, heart burn & extreme moodiness. Up to being on the stretcher going into surgery I requested pillows to help prop up his knees & lay across his lap to rest his hands on to try to make him more comfortable which he still was NOT. After going back to prep for surgery, have surgery & wake up in recovery approx an hour my husband was in better mood! He had his IV out & was talking. I asked him if he needed his pillows back & he said he was fine & wasn't hurting at all. When discharged a couple hrs later he was ready to eat! We went back to the hotel by shuttle & ate in their restaurant. He ate mild hot wings, blacked fish & seasoned veggies with lemonade to drink. Fasting for surgery and being about 4 pm (this is food & drink he generally can't tolerate on a normal day!!!) I was surprised he did well. When we got back to the room we played a full game of rummy with him wide awake (out of character with his usual preference to nap without being in surgery). After the game of cards he wanted Pizza so I ordered a pepperoni Pizza with great warning! But he tolerated it!!! That night he tried to get us up & on the road to head back to the Panhandle of Florida which took us 6 hrs to get there due to road construction & heavy steady traffic. When we got home he proceeded to go out to work in his garage! He has surgery less than 24 hrs ago. He has so much energy compared to before. He (we) now sleep all through the night without to 10-20 episodes of apnea that waked us up before each night. His blood pressure is now within normal limits & NO MORE bone & joint pain. He had a small growing lesion above his left eye lid for a solid year BUT it disappeared. I am hopeful he won't have anymore kidney stones. My happy, friendly husband is back! He had been missing for 12-14 yrs! This group of persons that work there were all extremely kind & informative. They answered questions I did not think of yet. The doctors are extremely confident about their knowledge & surgery of the Parathyrold. While we were there waiting for him to come from surgery we met people from New York and out West. One had previous surgery at a Mayo clinic but they were not complete in their surgery & she needed another so they referred her there. I am so THANKFUL for their practice & expertise! Worth the surgery!!!!!

I was referred here by the VA, which typically already means it's going to be a rough experience. I…read moredidn't have much choice in where I received care. Unfortunately, my experience has been consistently disappointing. Every appointment seems to start with a phone call before asking where my blood work is, despite the fact that this office is the one that draws my blood... This has happened twice now, and it doesn't inspire much confidence in how things are being managed and creates unecessary anxiety. My initial referral experience was frustrating from the start, and things haven't improved. Every appointment has been late, standard by 30 to 45 minutes or more. As I'm writing this review, I'm sitting in the waiting room 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment, and I've already overheard three other patients voicing their frustration over even longer waits. The atmosphere feels tense and unhappy. Whether it's poor leadership, burnout, or staffing issues, it's noticeable the moment you walk in. As a younger patient dealing with complex health concerns, I want to understand my treatment and ask questions. Instead, I often feel rushed or dismissed rather than heard. Check the docs boxes and be on your way. And for the love of God, turn the air conditioning on or turn it up. Every visit feels uncomfortably warm, especially when you're already waiting well past your appointment time. Patients deserve to feel respected, listened to, and cared for. Right now, this office feels more focused on getting people in and out than providing a positive patient experience. I sincerely hope they take a hard look at their processes because there is a lot of room for improvement. There are at least 7 people bustling around in the back office and cannot seem to get it right. There isn't really any other option around so people get what they get...

Definitely 0 star if I could make 0…read more Men Beware Found Dr Richman of Advanced Urology in 2021 with difficulty urinating and Prostate issues. Advanced Urology and Dr Richman were more concerned about selling me a snake oil procedure than actually helping, the Rezum water treatment therapy. I was sold on the fact it would help. Stating it was the next best thing. It is not. As I came to the office procedure he was irritated, in a hurry for the staff to go home because the Urology Surgery center only allows a small window of time to do a procedure before charging more money causing the doctor to rush the procedure. I was not informed I needed a ride and he would not preform the procedure until my ride arrived. Allowing for the numbness to wear off leaving me screaming in excruciating pain during the entire procedure Rezum water vapor therapy. . Now I have worse symptoms of bph and have side effects because of the Rezum treatment and he would not follow up with me after this experience. Because after I had asked how much out the door it cost. I paid what I was told my part would be. Months later when I had an appointment, they would not see me because they were charging me more causing me to lose additional follow up care. Now after losing my insurance, I am left suffering the after effects with no one who will take the responsibility of a faulty procedure. . It has left me now with a damaged prostate, damaged my testicle operation, painful and difficulty urinating, worse symptoms than when I had previously come in for. As well as Suffering from long term side effects from prescription medication. . I would never, ever refer anyone to Dr Richman or Advanced Urology unless they would like to be treated as a transaction, not a patient. Our Medical System is Flawed and Patients do not matter at Advanced Urology. Profiting off of human guinea pigs is the goal leaving you robbed, maimed, disserviced and damaged for life with no remorse or reimbursement, unless you pay more money for the service rendered leaving me damaged .. on to the next victim, in your revolving transactional service. I moved to Pasco County and had to find a new urologist. My decision to select this doctor was…read morebased on the on-line reviews. I was surprised Dr. Schonwald did his bladder exam much differently than my previous doctor. He did not inflate my bladder with liquid, but did a dry exam with a scope. There wasn't any monitor that you could view, as he was the only one privy seeing thru the scope. The entire exam took about 5-8 minutes. But I figured, he is the expert and he is board certified. Perhaps every doctor does things differently. Several days before my appointment, his office called me and stated that I would have to bring $200 with me prior to his exam. (Keep in mind, I had been seeing this doctor for about 2 years) I asked why I had to bring any money with me as I have excellent insurance. She stated he would like to have some compensation up front due to the wait time for insurance companies! I had never ever been asked to bring in up-front money from any doctor I have ever seen in the past. After I hung up the question arose, how was I to get compensated for the money I gave the doctor, since I would not have any bill to submit to my insurance company? Not only that, the insurance company would pay the doctor not me because he obviously submits his bills. This sounded like a billing night mare! So, another search for a new urologist. I found a great urologist and I asked them if they wanted money upfront for partial compensation. There was silence on the phone and I asked if anyone was there. No was the response, we get paid by the insurance company. I felt like a total idiot! The new doctor spent a lot of time with me getting background info, looking at medical records and we had a one on one for about 30 minutes. When it came time for him to use the bladder scope, I asked him if he used liquid or did a dry exam. He gave me an odd stare as well as his nurse and asked me to repeat what I said, which I did. He said they always use liquid so the bladder can expand so he is able to competently do a proper exam. He had a monitor so I was able to see everything, and he explained areas of the bladder as he navigated the bladder. He also did a kidney exam (my first) as he wanted to make sure everything was ok. Everything was fine. My total time with the doctor was about an hour!! BIG DIFFERENCE, HUGH? My regretful bad experience with Dr. Schonwald, led me to a terrific urologist!!! So, in closing, I thank you Dr. Schonwald.
