Ok, so I got seasick and found out I don't like snorkeling in the open ocean. But gosh darnit if the crew on the Floridays didn't go out of their way to make me happy, comfortable, and excited to be sailing. Alexis (our captain) and Katie (our first mate) reminded me of kickass summer camp counselors, except with beer after you snorkel. The boat is getting renovated below deck, but was a delight to sail upon. Had a very comfortable metal rail (and seat!) for lunch-hurling purposes. They were great, family friendly, and should I ever want to send friends out sailing, I'd recommend these folks. The two of us signed up for the afternoon snorkel sail, but then a private party booked that trip so we moved to morning. $69 per person plus tip got us two hours (one hour each way) of relaxing sailing, an hour of snorkeling in a lovely coral reef, and as many or as few drinks as we wanted - soda, water, beer, margarita-in-a-bag. Our trip left on time from the Hyatt docks. We had the good fortune of having a beautiful day with relatively calm waters and excellent visibility for snorkeling, and there were only two other people on the trip, which meant a total of six people on the boat...perfect. The Captain and her First Mate were great - they were helpful and informative, told us enough about the boat and the area so as to be interesting but not pedantic or boring, and I got the impression they are very good at reading people and adapting to different kinds of groups. Our trip just happened to be two pairs in our late 20s-early 30s, with two first-time snorkelers and two who had more experience. They played some reggae-esque music (Slightly Stoopid?) at a moderate volume on the way there and back, which personally I found to be a perk. About 15 minutes before we got to the snorkel site, we had a mini lesson on mask/snorkel and flippers. There were swim noodles available for people who might want/need them, and they established a couple gestures to indicate "I need help" or "I'm ok thanks for asking." I got in the water and found my mask leaked a lot and panicked a bit, so I swam back to the boat and got a new mask and a noodle. I really enjoyed myself once I calmed down and saw a great variety of tropical fish and coral. I think we had about an hour in the water, and it was a good amount of time - enough to see everything in the vicinity without getting too tired. My Floridays snorkel trip was probably the highlight of my vacation, and both of us recommend them very highly to Key West visitors looking for a sail or snorkel. read more

This place is on point. I've snorkeled several times in key west, if you are only going to one trip this is your boat. top notch captain, gorgeous boat, gorgeous reef. Comforting, capable, and well experienced instructors. Relaxing, accommodating, and casual employees all around. Free snacks and drinks on the way back with 2 hours of sailing and 1 hour in the water. Would drop 60 bucks on that any day. Another nice touch was having high quality well maintained gear. No goggle is fog-proof but those were as good as it gets in my experience. No one can promise you specific sea-life but we had our fill of turtles, sharks, rays, barracudas, and tons of colorful fish. read more

Great Sunset Sail. Limited selection of drinks (read Bud Light and Woodbridge wine) but very relaxing. The ship is small too, and they do not overbook so you can spread out and enjoy the relaxation (we almost felt like we were on the ship alone!). We took the snorkeling trip and they crew was fantastic at making sure we felt safe and had a great time. Beautiful sail out to the reef. The water was choppy out there but once your face is in the water, you don't feel the waves. We had such a nice time we took the sunset cruise the next evening. Nice long quiet ride - no obnoxious band/music to take away the relaxing aspect. All the gusts were laughing and having a great time. This was a pretty legitimate deal. We did the afternoon snorkel cruise. Captain Roger (aka Captain Ron as we were calling him) is this totally Pauly Shore type awesome dude who seemed to love his life and be pretty good at sailing. We went out during what turned out to be a really rough day... he kept everyone safe and maintained an infectious positive attitude. The boat itself was really nice, and the first mate was super friendly and helpful. There's free booze on the way back in, which was not exactly "hitting the spot" seeing as though I was doing everything in my power not to spray-puke all over the place. Great price, nice guy, and the best part is that if you call him, he answers the phone WHILE HE'S DRIVING THE SAILBOAT and takes reservations in his head. read more

I can't say enough how much we enjoyed BOTH of our Floridays trips while on a week long trip to Key West! Alexis, our captain, was very friendly and both first mates as well. We did a morning snorkel, and later in the week, a sunset cruise with champagne. These two trips were definitely the highlight of our trip. The boat was NOT crowded, and it made for a very relaxing trip. The snorkeling was fantastic, and the ice cold beer (or wine) on the way home hit the spot. They were also great over the phone, I spoke with Alexis a few times, as our initial snorkel trip was accidently booked on the wrong day, and she was happy to let us come on the day we had intended...and our sunset cruise was postponed due to weather, and she was great about making sure we were aware of the schedule changes. He took us out between Wisteria Island & Sunset Island that evening which is a trip we hadn't taken before. The boat was spacious and not crowded. We were really excited about our snorkel trip on Floridays in Key West because of all the positive reviews. The Captain Alexis was great, but the first mate, Shannon was not very friendly. She did her job of serving beverages and reviewing safety with out much enthusiasm, and had no interest in chatting with the passengers. I found out a lot about her by asking her questions, but she didn't ask me one question, pretty lame for someone running an excursion that should be making people feel welcomed. She was condescending to one of the other passengers, during a very long safety meeting. Wouldn't do this trip again if Shannon is on board. Kudos to Alexis who was sweet and did her job well. Cruised into an intense lightening storm and Alexis was very professional and pleasant even though you could tell it was very stressful for her. Yay Alexis. Vote Shannon off the island! read more

My husband and I had a fantastic snorkel experience with Floridays! The captain and his crew were very friendly and attentive. I am an avoid snorkeler but my husband is not and has actually had some bad experiences. Other companies (in Hawaii not key west) made no attempt to help newer snorkelers feel comfortable and literally laughed at my husband for asking questions). This is NOT what happened when we went snorkeling with Flordiays. They made sure to ask if anyone was new to snorkeling and took the time to give my husband extra pointers to help him feel at ease. They offer a pool noodle for those who feel uncomfortable in the water and also have a line in the water with a flotation device for those who still feel a little nervous. All this helped my husband feel comfortable and we were able to snorkel together hand in hand. The reef you are taken to is beautiful and very colorful as are all the sea life you will see! We will definitely sail again with Floridays! read more

We went snorkeling with Alexis and Charlotte and it was the highlight of our entire trip. The boat was beautiful and the weather was beautiful. Both of the women were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They even made me feel safe about my fear of the sharks by explaining how they wouldn't attack. We saw tons of fish and even sharks. My wife and I booked a snorkeling trip nearly 5 weeks ago. We wanted a smaller group and were willing to pay extra as compared to the larger tour operators. Yesterday morning I called to confirm our reservation. Everything was set as planned. In the afternoon we caught a cab from our hotel to the hyatt in order to arrive a few minutes prior to departure as requested. During the cab ride, approximately 45 minutes prior to departure, I received a call telling me that other guests had cancelled and therefore our boat was no longer heading out. I understand that from the company's perspective taking only two people out isn't ideal. But that's also the cost of doing business. It isn't our fault the other guests cancelled on short notice. To rectify the problem, they should require payment in advance (which I offered when booking). The person on the phone with whom I spoke didn't appear to grasp this concept. The fact that they were not overly apologetic also bothered me. We were offered a discount for a trip the next day but were leaving key west the following morning. So we didn't get to go snorkeling at all. I'm sure if the boat left as planned we would have had a great time. But be forewarned that Floridays will cancel on short notice if other guests fail to show. In that respect, the larger tour operators are preferable. read more

Came to Key West for our anniversary over Thanksgiving, and as we talked about our vacation on the way home, we both agreed the best thing we did on the entire trip was the sunset sail with Floridays. I've been taking the Fury snorkeling catamaran the last couple years and have been swearing by it, but this year we took Floridays and couldn't have been happier. The sail boat is much much much less crowded and quieter than the large, cattle-herding cats that Sebago and Fury take out to the reefs. Great experience, and Captain Roger is very friendly and makes sure that everyone's having a great time (and that beers are refilled quickly!). I read the seasick reviews before going out and was a bit apprehensive, but it wasn't a problem whatsoever for anyone on board our ship. Took some dramamine just as a precaution, but it was smooth sailing. There was a total of maybe 18 people on our boat, and that was a great size for having room to spread out. The trip was beautiful, the water was clear, and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommend! read more

We took an afternoon snorkel trip on Floridays and were greeted by the wide smiles of Captain Alexis and First Mate Katie. These ladies know how to handle a 60-ft sailboat! They were warm and knowledgeable and since our group didn't snorkel as long as we thought we would, took us on a sailing tour around a few of the smaller islands. I have been fortunate enough to do alot growing up. We've done guided hikes in national parks, skydiving, parasailing in the BVI and other truly incredible experiences. However this sail was by far in the top three experiences in my life. To start with it was me and my family and one other couple. That's it. The boat was large and the captain and co-captain went above and beyond what was required to make us feel at home. We got to see a pod of dolphins and they gave us drinks on the way back to town. Not only this but if you pay a little extra you get the champagne sunset cruise which tops the perfect trip off with the perfect night.
