Awesome flower shop located in downtown Honolulu. I needed to grab a lei for my friend's graduation this week. I didn't feel like walking all the way to Chinatown so I looked at the flower shops on Fort Street. Thankfully Flower Fair was conveniently located near Beretania. I walked in and was assisted by a worker. I had a lot of questions and wasn't sure what to get, but she patiently assisted by offering suggestions and showing me the different leis. I told her I wasn't sure what to get and I'd come back on the day of the graduation to purchase it. She let me take pictures and think it over before I made my purchase the next day. I ended up purchasing a beautiful ti lei with white flowers. It was one of the suggestions the employee made. It looks simple and elegant. Perfect for my friend's graduation. Ordered flowers while on the mainland to be delivered. Their displays on their site are very true... just choose your favorite & order online. Had arrangement delivered on 2.20.21 as I was told by Rachel that the staff would receive Monday (1 week after) to " recover" from the Valentine's Day rush. No problem because the receiver was overjoyed with the fresh and beautiful arrangement. The only complaint is that I had requested that Flower Fair call before delivering to insure the person would be home. To my knowledge, no call was made or the deliverer called shortly before delivering as the arrangement was left on the porch. Unfortunately, the person I was sending the arrangement to is elderly and has no tech skills. Maybe Flower Fair could call the day before (or ask if the number provided is a mobile #) or call earlier on the day of delivery. A plus is that Flower Fair will send you two emails the day after delivery: one that delivery was made and the second will include a pic of the arrangement that was delivered. I think I found my new florist. Before my Florist was Sweet Leilani on Dillingham but since they closed I been going wherever as long they have what I was looking for . I got referred to this place called Flower Fair located Fort St. Mall. First thing I said to myself great parking ?. So decided to drive by to see if there was parking available I lucked out there were meter parking right next door to the Fire Station on Beretania St. Right across the street is Fort St Mall where Flower Fair is located. I was looking for Pikake lei because I'm taking my sister out for a belated Birthday lunch and Pikake is her favorite lei. I wasn't planning to get anything because I know it's near Mother's Day and May Day was earlier. So every place is either sold out or not available. I ask the salesperson if they have Pikake available and she said yes only double strand I didn't hesitate and I said I'll take it. For those who's familiar about Pikake it's very fragrant and very fragile it falls off the thread easily. You can see my pics this lei was very fresh and it was still in the bud stage so that's very nice. I'll be definitely going back there to buy all my future leis and flower arrangements. I stopped by Flower Fair at 7:45 am on my way to work downtown, not knowing that they didn't open until 9 am. Even then the florist was so kind and didn't hesitate to help me. She moved all the display carts outside to make room for us in the store. I told her my budget was $20 and that I was looking for something small, cheery and tropical for a colleague who had just had major surgery. At first I thought it was curious that she worked quietly and didn't ask me more about flower choices, but she knew what she was doing and I'm glad I trusted her. She put together a beautiful, full bouquet of protea, anthuriums, and ferns that probably should have cost double my budget. The bouquet was even wrapped in a lovely rose-embossed paper/fabric material that made it look even more premium. On top of all that, she also included a notecard with a holder to stick into the bouquet. The recipient loved it and got loads of compliments on it. May does it right. A combination of being nice, using tech (website and email) to improve the experience and, above all, delivering a product that is not only beautiful but exceeds what was promised. On her site she shows you the "basic" arrangement, then gives you options to upgrade to "deluxe" and "premium". To my pessimistic brain, I compare this to when a car wash asks if you want the undercarriage washed or the "deionized water rinse"... it MIGHT be a thing but will I ever really know why I paid more money or if they did anything at all beyond "the basic"? Well, with May and Flower Fair the answer is yes. (see pix) of "basic" for $144 and then the "deluxe" for $23 more. Admittedly, I'm not sure what one should be getting for $167 of tropical flowers but I'm happy with this. And the process was flawless. May answered the phone and suggested I order online (which I dislike but had already tried two places that couldn't help me)... after doing that, she followed up with an automatic response and then returned an email in which I had corrected something on the Happy Birthday card almost immediately, and also sent a picture of the arrangement being delivered. read more
