Watanabe Floral is Hawaii's largest full service floral shop since 1946, and my favorite shop. I try to visit here at least once a week to pick up roses/florals for my 2 vases, this help me think of a special person in my life who Loves floral. This place is such a happy vibe place/feeling, once you enter you will know what I mean. I just love the decor, so colorful, cheerful, so happy! I remember the very first time when I brought my mom here, I could see her happy face, I had to snap a photo of her at front of store. My recent visit I picked 10 colorful roses for my vase and also had to pick up a Birthday gift. Loved looking at all the orchids, picking one was hard. Watanabe has everything here, not only floral needs, you can just do your one stop gift shopping her. Like a local Hallmark with all the trinkets, gifts, snacks, jewelry, some very unique items that I never seen before. I came across the handmade crochet items and couldn't pass up on the bird and flower key chain, had to get them. They have very great vendors they purchase from, that's a great for supporting local! I've ordered from this company multiple times because I live off-island and rely on them to deliver flowers to my mom for special occasions and holidays. Up until now, they've always done a great job, but this recent experience for Mother's Day was extremely disappointing. First, the delivery driver brought the wrong bouquet. I paid $209.41 (including delivery), but my mom received a bouquet that was clearly not what I ordered later confirmed to be a lower priced arrangement. I had to call customer service, who then contacted the driver immediately. While I appreciate that they responded quickly, it still took about 47 minutes for the driver to return, take back the incorrect bouquet, and retrieve the correct one from the truck. When the correct arrangement finally arrived, the presentation was still off. The vase was too short for the flowers, making the bouquet look unbalanced and like it was falling out. For over $200, I expected much better attention to detail and quality. On top of that, the company advertised "free delivery," but that only applied to very limited areas on the island. I still had to pay a delivery fee despite the initial mistake being entirely on their end, which felt misleading. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day. I've had good experiences before, but this one really missed the mark. read more

Solid choice for flowers and leis. Can be on the pricey side but they are fast, efficient, and convenient. During busy times like graduation they frequent run out of items. I chose them because they were listed as doing the USDA pre inspection for items leaving Hawaii. Turns out smaller lei shops do that also so likely will be using a smaller Chinatown shop. read more

Watanabe Floral has been a mainstay in Honolulu forever. If you really need flowers or leis this is the place to get them. Recently I stopped by to get a couple leis and an arrangement for a burial. I was very impressed on the beautiful selection of premade arrangements and leis, but I was also surprised on the cost of these flowers nowadays. I purchased an arrangement for $99 and 23 leis for just over $100. It's been a while since I needed flowers so I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised. While shopping I asked a female employee for assistance and was told that she would be right with me. Never happened. Pretty disappointing when you spend $200 on 3 items. I had a dinner function to attend last night and wanted something special for the hostess. Watanabe popped into my mind because of the advertisements I'd seen on television regarding their services and selection. I was out running errands so decided to swing by here. Coming on Nimitz and getting into this business is tricky, you have to turn left at waiakamilo then make a quick turn then right back onto Nimitz and finally a right into the business parking lot. Once in the store there are many small businesses allotted space to showcase their wares in addition to a walk-in refrigerated room to showcase and sell flowers. Everything is clearly priced as retail or wholesale and reasonable. I picked out a Haku lei for my friend, stood for a minute in the marked checkout line and was fetched by a great smiling associate to check me out. Fantastic experience, not as inexpensive as Chinatown but I didn't have to deal with that parking hassle either. Beautiful experience and a heavenly fragrance too. read more

I've received several arrangements from Watanabe and they've all been so beautiful and last.

I'm just disappointed in the customer service given today to my husband. He went in specifically for Anthuriums for some visitors. The flowers are VAGUELY marked for pricing. When he asked which was which price he was told the ones he bought would be in the $4 size. They charge by the inch for these. Flowers aren't marked as to what color they are nor sizes. When he asked if they would be alright in the car the saleswoman said they'd be okay but when they wrapped them she'd add a wet paper towel to the stems. He went to the register and asked for this to be done to be told NO they don't do that but he could buy a water tube for each flower he's buying for .25 cents each. My husband said no that's okay. Husband was buying a vase and the man said he could give him some water in the vase. So now my flowers are $5 each, unwrapped in a vase to be transported home. The one flower ended up split somehow? Edit *The man flattened the flower to measure it and suspect this is where it split. Some sales people just seem to not be interested in you unless you're making a big purchase. . I know this may feel a bit harsh for this ONE flower But I've had this experience with them before and just tired of the attitude some salespeople give off. I will never go to Watanabe Florist again.. in preparation for my granddaughter's May 24, 2026 graduation on the East Coast I made my order early, in February to make sure I'd be able to get large assortment of lei and one lei po'o... over $500 worth of lei.. with the delivery date decided by the manager to leave May 19 to arrive on May 23 . I called them two weeks before I left for the mainland to insure the order was still ok.. and was reassured that they would send the lei via FedX on the 19 to arrive by 23 May. After I arrived on the mainland Watanabe called me the day before they were scheduled to leave Oahu to say that because of the Kona storms some of the flowers were not available and would I permit them to substitute for comparable value. No choice, right..so I said that I would trust them to make the right selections, but the key was to get them there the day before graduation. Well, not to be.. they never arrived. No lei for my granddaughters graduation, it was heartbreaking. When I returned home to Oahu I went directly to Watanabe's and spoke with the manager to figure out what happened. He danced around a little saying they must have gone to the wrong address, but when I pressed him he looked up the FedX order and found that they were delayed with FedX and wouldn't arrive until the 28th. The best he could do was a "sorry about that" and a full refund..but..I mean.. huge disappointment! What can you do??! Never use Watanabe.. read more

I'm a recent Hawaii transplant to Northern CA and needed lei. I didn't want to wear the purple orchid lei that they sell at Safeway in CA so I ordered two men's lei to be shipped to the Bay Area from Honolulu. I'm an educator and had a whole week of graduation events so I chose a delivery date of Thursday. The box actually arrived on Wednesday morning! No problem because everything was super fresh and packed with extreme care. These folks know what they're doing! The box was super heavy duty. The lei were packed with great care in tissue, newspaper, and foam sheets. A chill pack was wrapped in multiple layers of paper and plastic and taped to the side of the box to ensure that it kept the lei cold, didn't get them wet, and didn't bruise them during shipment. Shipping is very pricey but you get what you pay for. The lei looked exactly as they did online. The $25 kukui with ti and $100 double ti with orchid were both so nice. The orchid lei woven around the maile style ti was also easy to remove once it started going soft by Sunday, which gave me even more opportunities to keep wearing it into the following week. There are many options for lei shipments to the mainland but I figured I'd have the best luck with one of the big companies and I'm glad that I chose Watanabe. I will not hesitate to order from them again. read more

12/5/2023 Yesterday I ordered a Holiday bouquet for my last surviving aunt and uncle first thing in the morning. It was the first time I ordered on line for a flower delivery. It was very easy as there are photos of arrangements for all types of occasions. The price of arrangements seem to have increased over the years but the convenience of adding delivery and a tip were available. I got confirmation for the order as well as when the delivery had been made the very same day. My uncle even sent me a VERY long text of how beautiful the arrangement was and seemed overjoyed. In this case the cost was well worth it. If you check their website they have daily specials and the best deal I saw was on December 12th. From the flowers you pick out of glass fridges throughout store. If you actually schedule you can get a bouquet of flowers done. The store even has its own free street parking lot.
