What a nice little shop, and utterly fantastic personalized service. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be using Flowering Around for future floral needs. Long story short, my girlfriend lives on Bainbridge Island (and I Seattle), and I wanted to get some flowers for her for my next visit. I found Flowering Around online and on Yelp, and noted the overwhelming positive reviews. They have a website which makes ordering arrangements a breeze. I honed in on their arrangement made with Kahala roses (see the photos), which I liked much better classic red roses (as did my girlfriend, when she received them). I was planning on picking up the arrangement myself and walking them over, but I misjudged the size of the arrangement, the distance I had to walk, and how cold it was. The shop owners were quite accommodating and offered to have them delivered last minute. In fact, they were willing to drop what they were doing and drive them over right away! Frankly, unbelievable service, and friendly and cordial to boot. I will definitely be using Flowering Around in the future. read more

My brother, sister, and I grew up on the Island but have all since moved away. A few weeks ago it was our mother's 85th birthday and so we wanted to send her some flowers. Came into the shop, and they had nothing available. The employee there was juggling me and a person on the phone, giving neither of us their full attention. They were extremely passive aggressive and offered no alternatives besides a grocery store. Very disappointing encounter. Ordering by telephone over a long distance (Kalispell, MT), no matter what the purchase is, can at times provide some challenges. However, the lady that took my order, Andrea, was extremely pleasant, easy to work with, and guaranteed my special request was met. In this day and age that type of service is hard to find. This florist is incredible. We used Flowering Around to provide floral arrangements for our deceased father's Life Celebration and they really delivered a wonderful and personalized series of arrangements. I had mentioned that my dad loved to visit Hawaii so she included a number of tropical flowers in each arrangement. I also mentioned that my dad had loved lavender and they included sprigs of lavender from the florist's personal stashes which had been harvested over the summer. So after sharing our colors and listening to a few suggestions we quickly realized that this shop knows what they are doing. This local shop has customer service like you wouldn't believe. Every email and phone call felt like I was speaking with an old friend. They know how stressful weddings can be and they always put our feelings and thoughts before the transaction and money. Our venue was naturally beautiful, so we did flowers on every other chair down the aisle. We did high vases for our reception and it completely altered a typical ballroom into an elegant fairytale. Very disappointed. My friend is recovering from cancer surgery so I wanted something to cheer her up. I don't like using big box stores so I try to use local florists as much as possible. It took some time to find a couple of independent stores and the first one I called was Flowering Around. Now I know that Bainbridge is posh but being told "we prefer to not go off island" is a bit of a joke, then I was told delivery if they "had to" drive to Suquamish it will be $20 so the lady is obviously desperate to get me off the phone at this point. I told her the charge would be fine, she then asked when I wanted them and I said "at your convenience would be fine", she asked "before Christmas", I said "yes that would be great", she then yelled to another employee "are we doing deliveries before Christmas, off Island?" Surprisingly they are not doing deliveries "off Island". God forbid they have to go to Suquamish!! She then suggested I call Thistle, another local florist, she said "they are right there in Suquamish", I told her "no they aren't, they are in Kingston", "well that's the same thing, they are minutes away". So she obviously doesn't want my business, that's fine, I will spend my money where it is wanted. I had planned to call Thistle next as they were the only other one I could find that was small and local. The lady who answered was friendly and helpful, didn't mind driving to Suquamish. I am sure this florist is busy but turning down $100 worth of business seems counter intuitive to me. read more

My experience was average. I was not welcomed in a timely manner and once I was engaged there was a bit of a hard sell. Overall, I found what I needed but I was left to my own devices to accomplish my task. I may go again but if I do I hope to find the staff more willing to HELP me find what I need rather than showing me all the things they want to sell. read more

I called this florist to have flowers sent to my mom for her birthday. I was out of town and needed them delivered the day of. I spoke with Ashley who provided probably some of the best customer service I've had. All I told her was that I needed a bouquet put together that day to be delivered, my approximate budget, and that my mom liked the color purple and she did the rest. The bouquet turned out amazing and the arrangement of flowers looked absolutely beautiful. She was so happy and excited to hear that I was sending flowers to my mom on her birthday, and since I was a first time customer, she even decided to comp the delivery fee. On top of that, she even went out of her way to send pictures to my phone of the bouquet, without my even asking. Needless to say my mother was very happy and keeps sending me pictures because not only do the flowers look amazing, but they smell fantastic too.
