This review doesn't matter anymore, but, I wanted to say thank you for the flowers and for the experience. I loved this place. I didn't know that ownership was being turned over and I was disappointed with the changes when I came in. I don't really have a reason to go there anymore considering the changes, so I just wanted to say thank you for what used to be. It was a lovely place and I had a lovely time. I called Flowers by Maryellen this morning to order sympathy flowers for someone in the Marshfield area. I am out-of-state and prefer dealing directly with a local florist rather than ordering online though a nationwide network. I was very specific about the arrangement I wanted; the person let me know that one of the requested flowers in the mixed arrangement was not available and suggested substitution of a similar flower. The flowers were delivered fast (about 3 hours later)! The recipient was thrilled with the flowers and sent me a photo of the arrangement; it was exactly what I had requested. Wonderful service! I am not from the Marshfield area so I was a bit nervous as we were having my daughter's shower at a nearby restaurant. I noticed positive reviews on this flower shop and spoke with Sarah about my vision for the tables and key pieces. Sarah completely understood what I wanted and the arrangements were stunning. I do not know why she doesn't have better reviews!! Maryellen is a DOLL and she is also fun and is talented. She did my flowers for my wedding and I LOVED THEM! My husband and I live in Miami, FL and it was tough to get back and forth to finalize plans for everything. And the one thing that I wanted to be spectacular, were the floral arrangements. Maryellen and I came up with ideas for the centerpieces and she made these visions come to life. My wedding was Gatsby themed so we had beautiful, flouncy feathers in the arrangements, phalenopsis in tall vases with lights at the bottom shining through crystals. Every flower we discussed, were in the arrangements, and most of all, she avoided boring roses, of which, I hate. After talking to my girlfriends that have gotten married recently, I really got a fantastic price for all of my flowers. My arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres, and place card arrangements as well. She made everything happen in a pinch. I could not have been more pleased, THANK YOU MARYELLEN. My family has been going to her for years for flowers for all different kinds of arrangements. We ordered two pieces for a funeral service. These were big pieces from the immediate family. I was very specific when ordering. The flowers were absolutely beautiful. Maryellen did my wedding flowers almost 4 years ago. To be honest, she was the only florist we went to because she's local and I heard good things. I wasn't too picky about the flowers anyway and went in knowing what colors I wanted. She wasn't too friendly with us at the beginning. She seemed like she was in a rush when she knew we were coming in. I'm very easy to work with and the farthest thing from a bridezilla so I thought she would've felt some relief knowing that but clearly not. Come to find out it's just her personality so be aware of that and don't take it personally. As the rather short meeting went on, she got a little friendlier but not much. Her sister and daughter work there too and they're nice enough. The flowers came out beautiful and I loved them. The only thing I didn't like was the ones for the men were mostly greens. I didn't like how much greenery they had because it much overpowered the flower and just looked like each guy had on only green until you saw them up close. That was the only thing that disappointed me but my flowers and bridesmaids were the ones I cared most about which came out awesome. Prices were as expected and the same as other florists around. We now go to Maryellen at Christmas time for kissing balls and wreaths. We also get center pieces for Easter and my husband gets anniversary and valentines flowers from her as well and they're always fresh and beautifully presented. read more

We've been ordering flowers from Mary Ellen's for many years and we have never been disappointed. I'm on the 'sunshine' committee at school and when someone is sick, has a baby, retire's, etc. we order the flowers here. We are always told by the recipients how beautiful the arrangements are, and I have even seen photos that the recipient took to show us what was delivered.... and always BEAUTIFUL. She was the 2nd person I interviewed for flowers for my wedding in June 2012. She seemed nice and professional. I was very specific as to the flowers that I wanted for my wedding. She did seem a little apprehensive about getting certain flowers. She also swore at my when I told her I particularly wanted a certain basket for my flower girl. this was appauling! I had already paid part of the payment thugh and did not have time to find another florist. We had all the flowers picked out and come to find out at my wedding reception..she had the wrong orchids that I had picked...even Stop and Shop sells these! Should have went there instead....would have saved the money instead of spending it on an incompetent flower shop! And...we are still paying for these flowers on a credit card! read more

I supposed nothing is life is perfect. Well, neither was the bereavement fruit basket that I sent to my close friend. I ordered on 4/16/17, and it was delivered on 4/17/17. One day after the basket arrived another friend sent me photos of the fruit which was damaged, bruised and in her words "not edible". Unfortunately for me, I opened her emailed photos just now (5/6/17) and was shocked to see just how severely damaged the fruit was. I called the shop and spoke with Karen who was helpful because she allowed me to email the photos for her review. She called me back after reviewing the photos and rather pompously assured me that the fruit was hand-picked at a local vendor, assembled, and delivered fresh. "I can tell you FULL WELL that we would not put bruised fruit in a basket," she huffed. She said my friend should have called them (while she was mourning the loss of her husband) so they could rush over, inspect the product, and decide what they could do about it. (Are you kidding?!@!!?) Karen said she would be happy to send a fresh flower arrangement to my friend to express how sorry they were about the fruit. Well, I am disappointed that Karen, in effect, called my and my friends liars, and did not suggest that $73.00 or any fraction thereof, would have been refunded. I declined Karen's offer, preferring to post this review. Caveat emptor. read more
