I always went to Floyd's when I lived in California for over ten years and had great experiences, so I was happy to see there was one here that was so close. I guess now I know where the crappy business of the neighborhood is in the North Loop. Their website said they accept walk-ins. Obviously they do not. There were zero customers there when I got there and zero customers when I left. They had two barbers doing nothing. They said that since I did not book an appointment online, they couldn't help me. They were so rude I decided it was better time spent to tell people about this experience rather than go on my phone and book an appointment. read more

Fun vibe overall, but I won't return to a place that doesn't respect appointments. I showed up at my scheduled time only to be told, "Sorry, we don't have a stylist for you." My options were to either wait an unknown amount of time or reschedule. When I asked if I could at least wait for the one stylist who was there, I was told she was fully booked. Went to Floyd's for a beard trim. Carmen was my professional, and she was great. My beard looks fantastic, and Carmen listened to what I wanted. Not all barbers and hair stylists listen. I used to have really great experiences here with great barbers and haircuts I was happy with. That hasn't so much been the case in my last two or three visits. I made an appointment for today and not really sure why I bothered. I waited 45 minutes past my appointment for a twenty minute haircut. If I knew I would have waited that long, I would have made plans for a different day. The haircut itself was fine. She did a fine job. I wasn't thrilled with it but that was probably the communication on my end so I can't fault her too much for not reading my mind. I was still annoyed about the wait - not her fault. I was about to leave as I had an meeting and would be cutting it close (no pun intended) I'm more simply annoyed with the lack of timely service and nothing that compensated for it in terms of a great experience. I had my first appointment scheduled at this location. I've been to the other in Minneapolis several times. A day before my appointment they moved my time to a time when I could not make it. At the time I booked the appointment there were numerous evening options for the date. When I was offered new times they were all at times that I was not available. At the end of the conversation I got a rude response from the receptionist about "her not owning the shop" and so not caring about the poor customer service. When I moved here a few months ago from NYC, I was in a panic about where I was going to get my hair cut. Like, OMG..... my hair. Enter Floyd's on Washington in the North Loop. These guys are taking your safety seriously during Covid. Appointments only, no waiting in the store, temperature checks before you get seated, the whole shmear. I have been getting a cut from John, who not only does a great job cutting my hair but is also an all-around solid guy. Last time in, we rapped about bourbon and things like that. Just a down to earth guy, and so are the rest of the staff. John gives an excellent haircut, a shampoo, and a neck shave and I am out the door, ready to take on the world. read more

I highly recommend this Floyd's Barbershop. I first learned about Floyd's 99 when I lived in Los Angeles. I appreciated it's authenticity and unique style. It quickly became my go to place from 2013-2016. Then I relocated to Minneapolis and began going to the Uptown location where I had some of my best haircuts. I grew my hair out during Covid and in March I had my first cut with Nate. He quickly gave me some advice for having long hair and did a great job; I really appreciated is dedication to cutting hair. Today I returned for a second time and I called and spoke with Elina and asked if she could fit me in today if someone cancelled as I would be at a nearby coffee shop. Sure enough Elina remembered me, called, and I was able to get my haircut today. While I was bummed Nate was not working today I trusted there would be someone good working--- yes I took a risk on a new stylist cuz I needed a cut before the weekend; I don't always make that choice. I must say I was impressed---best part of my visit today was Mary by far. Mary is experienced, she really cares about cutting hair, the people that sit in her chair and her fellow co-workers she works with; Mary is First Class. Although the haircuts and staff are good, shame on Floyd's for charging $35 rather than the normal $32 if you want to make your appointment at an earlier (readily available) time slot. Jacqui is a great stylist and very happy every time I visit her here! The saloon is centrally located but parking can be a real hassle sometimes (you have to park blocks away certain times). Aside from the parking issue no real complaints except the front receptionist staff has been in a grumpy mood a few times I've been there, nothing over the top, just seem like they'd rather be somewhere else and acted a little superior to the customers. I've had haircuts from two different stylists now, and both were great. There's an app that allows you to easily schedule haircuts. Although, it's annoying you can only schedule two weeks in advance. We were running 7 minutes behind today, and we apologized for our lateness. We did not ask for extra time because we understood we had taken time from our appointment. Our actions had consequences. This meant a 30-minute haircut would now be a 20-minute haircut, and we respect that because it was our fault. We understand we're behind, and we did apologize. Similar to how a stylist may be running behind in their appointment. It is not intentional, but your understand and move on. We were scheduled for 2:30 pm and were out the door by 2:59 pm. He said we inconvenienced him, and he had to add 45 minutes extra to our appointment time. The math doesn't add up to us, but according to him, being in the chair at 2:40 pm and out the door by 2:59 pm is 75 minutes. The entire cut was uncomfortable. Very passive aggressive attitude. He then said that if this happens again, he will have "stronger words for us next time." Twice now, we've had a bad experience with Tims's attitude. Last time, he was rude for no reason at all. We brushed it off because we figured he might be having a bad day. He is excellent at cutting hair, and we appreciate the hard work and heart of his job. But, he has a horrible attitude towards customers, or at least us, every time we come in. To management, What does stronger words for you next time mean? read more

Took a while for me to find a good place to get my hair cut in the cities. But Jessica and others at Floyd's 99 are the best I've found and for $30 a cut it is competitively priced in the area. Easy to schedule online and I haven't had a bad haircut yet! read more

Here's a deal I love the location and 50% of the time I get an amazing haircut. The problem is they can't hold onto their staff. So what is the telling me is they really need to get their act together with management. Somethings wrong here. I know I love everything about this place I can't go here anymore because every time I figure out a stylist I like they leave. And on top of that they have a bad habit of rescheduling you at the last minute and flipping who you're supposed to be with. So my suggestion is to go somewhere else that's more established. Yo what up gang recently I pulled up to Floyd's Barbershop in Chanhassen and got messed the fuck up normally I don't post reviews like this but I feel the need to as this is the second time I've been messed up by these fucking Barbers at Floyd's the first time was with Lauren where I asked for a low taper and she gave me a fucking mullet the second time I got messed up was with Hakeem where I asked for French cup and I don't know what the fuck he gave me but he went in with no guard and went damn near to the top of my head making me bald after that I had to go to a new barbershop that was actually good where they did the best they could to fix it and they gave it to me for free because of how fucking bad the first one was cuz and they felt bad also Hakeem the whole time was talking about conspiracy theories and making me feel very uncomfortable. I had the worst hair cut experience here. Whoever the woman cutting my hair was kept talking about partying and drinking, and if I wanted to get away from the strict Minnesota laws because of COVID-19, I should drive to Wisconsin to drink. I thought this was highly unprofessional to be promoting this to me while I was getting my haircut. She clearly has no experience cutting hair and recklessly buzzed much of my hair off. The fading was terrible. NOTHING on my head blended. And when she noticed her mistake, instead of taking ownership, she just told me to wear my hair with gel a certain way so it doesn't show her mistake. No amount of hair product can cover up her reckless hair cutting. I had to stop her from keep chipping at my hair since she clearly is not qualified to cut hair. I had to schedule another haircut from a different salon to fix her mess, and they reassured me that the stylist from this location messed up my hair badly. read more
