Several days ago, I woke up with crazy-person hair with strands angrily resisting comb sweeps, pomade, and hairspray. Usually, bad hair days like this wouldn't be a problem, but I needed a quick cut prior to working an event that night and wearing a hat would be an absolute no-no. I Yelped barber and found Kenwood nearby. With a five star rating and nine reviews, I immediately made a phone call and got an appointment within the hour. I arrived two minutes prior to my appointment and was welcomed into a very small room with two barber chairs, a row of waiting seats, and manly décor -varying from military badges to bass fishing accessories- hanging from the walls. This barbershop screams, "I AM MAN." When it was my appointment time, a customer immediately got up and left. I was then told to take a seat. I appreciate the punctuality! During my twenty-minute cut, Steve, the owner, told hilarious adult jokes that would require little kids to "wear earmuffs." I also had a nice chat with my barber. I forget his name, but he is cool and left selling cars to cut and has been doing it for four years. He also did an excellent job on my head of hair. Twenty minutes later, I got let go and paid only $16. I just gave the extra $4, because he did great work. This place is all businesses, and if you're in a rush and want to save some cash while receiving a great cut, try checking this place out.

I am mediately booked an online appointment with Alex who came highly recommended. You do pay prior to arriving but I didn't really mind since I knew we were going to make the appointment. Street parking is available outfront unless it's busy in which case you might have to park a little further away. Once you arrive you'll need to walk through the store before getting to the shop. Alex was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. My boyfriend has a colic and when his hair is cut too short it sticks right up. Alex was able to go over some styling techniques as well as products my fiancé could use to continue getting the style he desired. We paid $55 for the men's cut as well as a tip on top of that. We will be getting married in less than three weeks and Alex mentioned that all my fiancé should need before hand is a neck trim. We instantly booked the second appointment and are happy to finally find a place in Minneapolis.

I overhead Moises asking my SO a ton of questions before diving into cut his hair, which is always a good sign. I also have to give him props, since I was the last person to cut my SO's hair, and I had no idea what I was doing...yet his cut still turned out AMAZING! I was super happy with my haircut as well... I usually go for layers and side bangs, and Karina made that happen while honoring the fact that I am still growing out my hair. I have "Asian" hair so it's usually pretty difficult to find somone who can make my hair visions a reality, but Karina was awesome! She also is a great conversationalist, and there were no awkward silences during the cut. That all changed with this appointment. Set aside anything involving how nice it truly is to have someone take care of you. While he's absolutely amazing at this aspect of his job, where he really shines is the personal touch he provides during the process, which will be a unique experience for each individual. He was able to keep me relaxed while taking a straight razor to my face. That deserves an award in itself. I will absolutely be returning in the near future for another shave and haircut. I've decided that it was such an overwhelmingly positive experience, I will have to start coming on a monthly basis. It is well worth it. If you're looking to get a haircut, and pamper yourself a little, I can recommend no better way to do so than stepping inside this oasis in northeast Minneapolis. Great job, guys!
