After having him as my stylist/barber, there's no one else that I want touching my hair. His customer service is second to none. He's quite literally one on the nicest people that I have ever met & I enjoy catching-up with him every time I come in. His skills are second to none - I actually had the pleasure of meeting him while he was a student many moons ago. To see his evolution as a professional is really quite cool. He has come a long way & a beast when it comes to turning out a style that you like. The great thing is that he is big on collaboration. At the end of the day, he is not satisfied unless you are. I've been coming here for years! My first visit to the Pasadena location was their opening week when they had a special $5 cut. Though I've had two previous barbers, my favorite and current barber is Griffin. Great guy, love hearing about his adventures as a girl-dad, his rock band days, and everyday life. The barber shop is like all of the other Floyd's... Band posters on the walls, variety of music (mostly rock, alt and punk), and major sports (muted) on the TVs. read more

Been here multiple times. Usually they are pretty solid w the apptmt system. Booked 3:15. Showed up at 3:20 inside the 10m grace period. Was still waiting at 3:30 wondering since I had booked an appointment, no sense how much longer I'd wait. Decided to leave since I had plans at 4. Not a huge deal but I selected Floyd's because of better haircuts than the SportClips next to my house. The extra drive made it worth it given the appointment system but the appt system failing this time make the planning not worth it - and I end today with no haircut. I was very disappointed by my last visit since I had an appointment made earlier in the week with Griffin. However it looked like my appointment was canceled since he wasn't able to make it the next day, which is fine. The biggest issue I had was that when I arrived they let me know my barber wasn't able to make it, and they had sent me a text message to notify me which I never received. A phone call with a voicemail or an email on top of the text to notify of the cancelation would've been more than efficient to let me know to not show up today or they have to reschedule my visit. Unfortunately I wasn't able to wait until the next availability and had to leave without a hair cut. Wasted my time driving all the way here and didn't even have time to look elsewhere to get a haircut before my flight. Put in a bit more effort if there are changes in reservations. This experience unfortunately is enough for me to take my business elsewhere. Do better. read more

I am a loyal customer to Flodys for decades, but it was a lesser experience at the Pasadena location today. Haircut was fine and the girl was nice enough, but there was no real care taken to style or offer products. No offer for razor shave. No offer to shoulder massage. That coupled with a joke to tip extra made the whole experience pretty sour. It was also ironic because I was reading the Floys mission to be different and better by always including those amenities with every haircut. I regret choosing covenience over loyalty to my amazing barber at the Encino location. Learned my lesson. read more

My 14 year old son and I both got cuts with Alexandra. And she was a sent angel! My boy had grown his hair out for a few years, and had gotten insecure about how he looked. Alexandra took time to listen to what he was hoping for, and she made it better than he could've imagined. When we got back in the car, he looked in the mirror and smiled at his reflection for the first time in a long time. He also wore a hate every day through middle school to cover up his hair. I've been coming here on and off for years. Recently, Lily R has been cutting my hair and she's the absolute best! Her cuts are fast, precise and always FRESH! I highly recommend her! I also come here for the Floyd's molding paste, it's the only product I use on my hair. I forgot to ask for her name, but she did a great job and I tipped her 25% in cash for the excellent haircut. The actual haircut was US$38.oo which is not bad. When my longtime stylist skipped town and left the country about 10 years ago, I started going to Floyd's. Split my time between the Melrose and Hollywood locations when we lived mid-city. Now that we live out in NELA, the Pasadena location has become my spot for the past several years. I didn't even think of trying anywhere different since I knew what to expect by choosing Floyd's Granted, I'm a guy with a simple haircut that's remained mostly unchanged since the center part went out of style at the turn of the century but I've always had great experiences at Floyd's, both with the staff and the finished results. Kat has been my go-to stylist for almost a year now. She's super friendly and blindingly quick with precision scissor work. She somehow combines the speed of Edward Scissorhands with the exacting detail of Otto, the legendary owner of Otto's Barbershop in my hometown where the only haircut on the menu is a high and tight. Don't know how she does it but it's a remarkable skill to have. Kat's always up for a few laughs and has a knack for picking up our conversation right where it left off during my last visit. In an age where everything is delivered to your front door, it's a nice change of pace to take a break from the day and step out into the world and I always look forward to visiting Floyd's (and not just because Randy's Donuts is conveniently located next door). read more

I went for an undercut and a trim 3 days ago and was assisted by Jeremy C and I didn't realize until I put my hair up yesterday how absolutely ridiculous and crooked the left side is. I came to this barbershop as a recommendation from my brother so this was a huge disappointment. Not worth the money AT ALL. When he finished cutting my hair he put it down and didn't even show me the back but because it's Pasadena and the price isn't cheap I didn't even question it. I definitely should've checked but you should do a better job. So difficult to find a decent stylist. $50 for this? And no that didn't include style/dry. Terrible. read more

Okay, I will write from my own personal experience. I even attached my credit card transaction photo as a proof that I was a paying customer. It should have been a big red flag that they had so many appointments available. I was able to book right away for the same day appointment. I got the Floyd's cut. I wanted the sides & the back with fade and a slight trim up top. They only took TEN minutes to cut my hair. She cut too much up top. Cut very poorly on my sides (as shown in my photo). For just 10 minutes of her work, my hair cut cost $37 (including tip). The going rate for Floyd's cut is $31, which equates to $185 hourly rate!!! (In comparison, the hourly rate for family practice physician in LA is $113 an hour). If I wanted a half effort hair cut that took ten minutes, I would have gone to Supercuts! Floyd's Barbershop is just an overpriced Supercuts with less effort. read more

Terrible service. I took both of my kids for haircuts and they were both almost crying afterwards. That's how bad their haircuts were. I tipped both of the hairdressers (because you are sort of forced to do so) but I shouldn't have. I explained (and the kids also did) the style and length of the haircuts (with several pictures as examples) Apparently the hairdressers weren't skilled enough to understand or even try to get close to the requests. As a prior barber, I loved the atmosphere! Every station has their own shampoo bowl. Giving quality service was a breeze. They provide the barbers with everything they need to be successful. They promote individuality leading to diversity in the barbershop. They have their own music station and play cool music all day. They provide their own brand of products that are comparable to name brand products. They also carry many other brands. Everyone cut hair really well. I loved watching the other barbers clients walk away with a smile. Mine were happy too. I had such interesting conversations in that shop. I really miss it. But now I'm a Barber Instructor. This was my first time at Floyd's Barbershop. My regular barbershop is usually Bishop's on Colorado (which is a great spot too) but they only have one barber amongst color hair stylists and it's difficult to catch him or her with my schedule. I am always nervous to try a new barbershop because sometimes barbers don't always cultivate the haircut I had in mind. Thank goodness, that was not today's case. Floyd's Barbershop has a groovy vibe with a theme that respects throwback music from rock to hip hop. My barber was Clarissa. She was exceptionally professional. Not only did she understand my request but she also went a step further to recommend me a hairstyle that more so fit what I was thinking of. She also recommended me a clay (Layrite) that works great with my stubborn thick hair. I highly recommend all men & womxn to check her out if you're thinking about getting a haircut or color. Marc is the best. Always has a good story to share and a great attitude. He is very precise and careful with his work, even measuring and explaining each cut to the tenth of an inch. He's got a good eye, and I've always walked in feeling fairly clueless about the cut I want that day, but have never left disappointed with Marc's effort. Always looks professional and clean. Had an appointment for my son and the guy didn't show up. They didn't leave a phone message, so when we showed up and they refused to accommodate us they were very rude. It seemed like I was the one inconveniencing them by expecting service or an attempt to make it right. No attempt at apology even or quick thinking about how to solve the problem. No contingency plan for when something like this happens. I really hope the barber who never showed is ok and that nothing bad happened. But this place is not good at handling customers at all.
