Not sure if it was Gigi's relaxing head massage during the shampoo or May's super friendly advice that'll make me come back -- maybe both I booked my appointment just two days before and they still fit me in at the time I wanted. I came right when they opened (10am on a weekday) so it was nice and quiet. I got a haircut, color, and highlights. The color wasn't exactly what I pictured, probably because I didn't explain it well enough and I still can't really see the highlights yet, but I'm trusting the process , maybe a couple or three more wash. May was so nice though and gave me some great tips on how to blow-dry for volume (still I can't get it right at home though!).. Anyway, everyone there was super nice and accommodating. Originally this whole appointment was with her but since she was on vacation at the time (which I did not know about and the other staff did not tell me) they had passed me to someone else which now leads us to this moment. It took about 3 hours to fix my hair and she was super patient, caring, and communicative throughout the entire process. With what she was given with, she really worked her magic and evened everything out the best she could. I was so satisfied and happy after the correction that I felt alot better about everything and even went as far as deciding to bring my mom here for a haircut because May redeemed the whole salon and my experience for me. Even days later May was still checking up on me and asking if my haircut was okay and if I liked everything. She truly cares about her job and is super skilled. EDIT/UPDATE: Leo reached out and asked if he could fine-tune my hair for no added cost. I am very satisfied with this experience. He was attentive cutting my hair and explained his reasoning. Somehow he made my bangs look longer which I like! Some parts still seem uneven but he explained that was the style and straight across wouldn't look as good which I trust. He genuinely wanted to make my hair look better and said I could reach out anytime if I have hair trouble. He curled my hair and also gave me a free curly hair treatment bottle! They did not ask me to change my review but I am bumping this up to 4 stars for the positive service. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Very disappointing considering the positive reviews for this place. It started out good but the actual hair cutting portion was a let down. I first showed my inspiration photos to Leo and he pointed out which photos wouldn't turn out the same because of my straight hair type. He spoke only Mandarin and I understood maybe 25% of his explanations since I can understand the language a little bit but he seemed thorough and well thought out (though I wish I spoke Mandarin so I could ask questions and comment about the process or ask for changes). He also decided to tone down my bleached blonde edges for a more blended brown which I thought was great (though it was an added cost which I didn't know until the end). For the actual hair cut I noticed for my bangs he didn't measure the shape or compare the left to the right, he randomly snipped at my hair and by the end of it you could tell. I thought he would fix it at the end but I'm guessing he wanted this kind of look? I'm not sure but the bangs are so uneven. One side of my hair is longer than the other and when I tussle my hair there are strands that are different lengths. I wish he took more care in intentionally cutting the hair lengths. This is my first time trying bangs and I am really not liking it. The total was $155 minus tip. There was an added $5 fee for using credit cards. Hoping I can find a better place elsewhere.
