As a California girl, upon my first taste of this ice cream- I was already sad. Sad that Made by Marcus doesn't have any California locations. This is really, really good ice cream. Rich, creamy- but the unique part here are the deep flavors. I wouldn't say the ice cream here had the best texture I've ever had (it was good, don't get me wrong. But the flavors? Beyond great. I LOVED my combo of the marcona almond chocolate ganache with the sea salt goat milk caramel. If I had to try just one flavor, it'd be the almond ganache one. My boyfriend also loved his cone. 20/10. Don't let the line out the door deter you from giving this a try.

They offer a split scoop so you can try two flavours. This cute shop is located down an alley, and the service is always fast and friendly. I chose the raspberry rose lychee and lemon curd blueberry ice creams. Both were flavourful!

The place is small with little to no seating especially in the summer months so definitely not a place to hang out and chill while you savour the ice cream but definitely an Edmonton staple

When looking for places to eat while working in Canada, I came across this ice cream place and decided to give it a chance. Being from the States, I was hesitant because it's located on an alley....but man...it was good. The service was great and I had the chance to try some incredible flavors. Definitely satisfied the sweet toot
Location is always so interesting - to have to go down a long alley to find it! Smell is absolutely wonderful as you get closer the smell of fresh baked waffle cones is drool-worthy and you can see them make them fresh as you walk in. I got the kids scoop which was so reasonably priced for the portion I was very happy. Not as many flavors as I remember but I didn't have trouble picking a few I wanted to try! I tried the Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan. I was asked if I had any allergies which is really kind of them to confirm. They also let me know it has real alcohol and if that was okay. It had a lovely caramel sauce in vanilla ice cream flavor. Very light/if at all alcohol taste. Giant pieces of pecans were cool but my preferences would have been if they were diced into bite-sized and more evenly distributed in the ice cream. Friend got the soft serve in a cup - they really need a small size! Soooo much soft serve for $4. Great for sharing - would be a lot of any 1 person. Couple tables inside and benches outside to enjoy the dessert. Overall still one of the BEST unique ice cream places in Alberta.
This is a nice little hidden jem found in an walking alley just off Whyte ave. It is a great place to go during a hot day for a cold treat. (The air conditioning feels great too). You can have the option of a cup of ice cream, a tub of ice cream, or a waffle cones with ice cream. They make the waffle cones fresh right in front on you, and they have many different types of ice cream; including some gluten free and lactose free options, such as a few sorbet or cashew based options for those with dietary restrictions. The service is friendly and fairly fast. I will definitely be going again.

I also felt the El Tigre was really authentic in flavour. I liked the butternut squash and coffe cake but my husband didn't. WE will be back to try the seasonal flavours.

Crafted in Alberta, using dairy from grass-fed cows and real ingredients, the freshest ice cream you'll ever have! The store has popped up in the same building that houses Wilfred's @eatwilfreds in the Brewery District at 10429 121 Street NW, Edmonton. Made by Marcus is simply divine! Since discovering the best ice cream in Edmonton during the Fringe, I've brought two additional people here and stood in the entirely worth it long lines! I'm yet to try the skip the line pint option because I always want to sample the current offerings. The quality here is second to none with grass fed cows, small batches, and local ingredients whenever possible. You can get a single scoop split into two flavors or order a flight of 4 small scoops if you just can't decide! Faves for me so far include Chinook Bee Pollen & Lavender, Hansen Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan, and Duchess Earl Grey Financier & Raspberry. Be sure to get a frequent flyer stamp card because once you try Made by Marcus, you'll be back!
Marcus made my mouth merry. We have been hearing about this shop for ages and finally checked it out in the molten hot weather of YEG. It was slightly too hot out in that by the tone we reached a place to sit and eat this there was definitely some ice cream soup going on. I wish there was more seating like right outside the store, but the Strathcona market area wasn't too far. My kid loves ice cream so he was very excited for this but he is more of a plain Jane so we were glad to see a fancy vanilla option for him. He also ended up being a fan of the lemon saffron coconut sorbet. And the flight of ice cream is a wonderful and thoughtful way for customers to experience a multitude of flavors. The seasonal flavours were absolutely memorable as unique and exquisite. We tried the peach blackberry & haberniao which we were pleased to find it reminded us of fuzzy peaches. The Earl Grey and raspberry ended up melting too much to really get any Earl grey flavour, mostly we just tasted raspberry which was too bad. Staff were friendly and quick. No more or they ran out of stamp cards, and it is still encouraged that customers wear a mask. Finding this little gem tucked down the alley was super fun.

Made by Marcus is a delicious little indulgence that's worth it, even at $3 for a single kid's scoop. It might even be worth the line! At least with the funky alleyway location and well-spaced outdoor seating, the wait is tolerable and unobtrusive. The menu is separated into two categories: seasonal and signature. It was hard to choose, the flavour combos all sound so good. Fortunately they offer an ice cream "flight", which is 4 scoops for $9. Perfect for the indecisive, the hungry and those who want to share. Our group tried Malted Chocolate with Honeycomb, Bananas Foster Rum Caramel, Lemon Curd Blueberry, and Toasted Hay & Saskatoon Berry flavours. We didn't try the waffle cones, but they are made fresh, smell great, and cost $1. You have to try the Toasted Hay & Saskatoon Berry while it's available, really unique flavour, lovely toasty taste with a hint of saskatoon. The hay flavour is similar to that of genmai cha (tea with roasted rice), so if you like that you're gonna love this ice cream. We took a pint for the extended Saskatchewan family to try, and everyone from traditional elders to picky kids absolutely loved it. I've never seen a pint of ice cream disappear so quickly! Totally worth the $8. I do wish there had been more saskatoon in it however, it was mostly a few streaks of syrup, no actual berries. The malted chocolate with honeycomb had a great malt taste, one of my fave flavours that you don't see much anymore. One piece of honeycomb was a bit salty though, it's chocolate coated and then salted, and I happened to get a bad chunk. I thought the bananas Foster was quite understated, not as rich a banana flavour as I expected. My friends liked the lemon curd blueberry and wished they had got 2 scoops. They liked that it was a bit tart and not too sweet. I like that you can buy little and big containers to go, and plan to bring more fun flavours to our Sunday family dinners. You can also try free samples (metal spoons not plastic, yay), but maybe take it easy until the line-ups die down. Summary: Really good ice cream, thoughtful and fun flavours, and it's not overly expensive. Great addition to Whyte Ave, I hope it becomes a permanent resident! read more
A great addition to Edmonton's ice cream scene. I loved it when I tried in Calgary and I'm excited that they decided to expand here. Lines can be long depending on when you go. They do start running out of flavors near the end of the day so make sure to go earlier if you want a full selection of flavors. I've tried the following: -Toasted Hay and Saskatoon Berry: quite good and you can taste the distinct hay flavor -Banana Foster Rum Caramel: very strong banana rum taste but it was enjoyable -Chinook Bee Pollen and Lavender:if you like lavender then this is the flavor for you. It was refreshing -Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan: pecans gave it a good crunch and moonshine taste was light -Maple Bacon Pancake: this was surprisingly delicious. I love the pancake bites and bacon was a nice touch Overall what makes this place different is their very unique flavors. Not all flavors will be at everyone's liking as I sampled a few I didn't like (ie. Dill pickle & peanut butter). read more
I tried out @madebymarcus artisanal ice cream shop. I was drawn by the walkway to this shop as it is a narrow alley lit by small white lights , magical really. They offer unique flavours of ice cream including seasonal ones as well like the "mandarin olive oil cake" you see on the menu. I missed out on that one. Instead I tried two popular flavours: the blueberry lemon curd (my favourite-tasted like a cheese cake bite that was perfect in sugar and flavour) and the sea salt goat cheese caramel (in the bottom- tasted like regular vanilla). Two scoops cost me 6$. Super affordable. read more

Nice ice cream at a reasonable price! We got two scoops: Double Cookies & Cream and Vegan Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Service was polite, friendly and quick (even though there was a long line as usual). Nice friendly atmosphere and unique flavours to try. Oh and we saw some dogs in the alley! We love dog spotting. read more

Honestly, I don't care how long the wait is, JUST GO! The ice cream here is amazing! The first time my husband and I went, we went with a couple friends and waited for about 30 minutes. Now just to clarify, if you wait in line you're waiting specifically for the cone only (and honestly you have to do this to get the awesome picture!) If you just want to try the ice cream and you don't care as much about a great photo, skip the line and get a pint! It is only 8 dollars and the pricing is quite similar to getting a cone. I have tried the following flavors and they have all been amazing (see pictures) cookies and cream - all sorts of yes. It is creamy delicious and just the best cookies and cream I've ever had. moonshine brown butter and pecans - this is honestly my new favourite. It has that perfect buttery sweet taste and the pecans just adds to it. Lemon curd and blueberry- I really enjoyed this one too because I love that lemony taste and it was all balanced quite well. Transcend espresso peanut butter and blackberry - This was a great surprise. The flavors actually complement each other so well. Sea salt and goat milk caramel - This was still yummy but was probably my least favorite out of the ones I tried. Not as impressive as the others in my opinion. Roasted strawberry buttermilk - This is honestly like strawberry shortcake. It was tasty but again probably wouldn't get it. I am so excited to come back and try more - I will likely just skip the line and try pints but I will probably have to come back to get more gorgeous cone shots! read more
Amaaazing selection of flavours! If you're in a fruity mood, they've got it. If you're more into the decadents, they've got it. If you like more exotic flavours, they've got it. If you're more of a classic person, they 100% got it. If you're vegan, however, they only have 3 flavours so there's less to pick from. Considering that I went in February, it was not busy at all. There was no lineup and you could sample as many flavours as your heart desired. I eventually landed on the grapefruit sorbet and horchata date shake (vegan options)! My partner decided to have the Duchess earl grey financier and blackberry. The cool thing is you can split 1 scoop and choose 2 flavours. The ice cream was pretty good but I don't think the vegan options are anything to write home about. The horchata date shake had a weird aftertaste- almost like a spoiled milkshake but the grapefruit sorbet was pretty good! However, the Duchess earl grey financier was phenomenal. They even had little pieces of the financier cake inside of the ice cream. I admit I was quite jealous that I didn't pick it and kept stealing bites. If you're ever on Whyte and craving some ice cream, do check out Made by Marcus! I don't know who the heck Marcus is but I hope he continues to make more. read more

An amazing ice-cream shop with loads of unique & delicious flavours. Atmosphere: 5/5 - Modern, sleek & colourful. Decent amount of seating inside and outside. Price: $$$/5 - Average for a premium ice cream store. Customer Service: 4/5 - Employees were quick & polite. Location: 4/5 - The alleyway is a little difficult to find but Whyte Ave is overall a great spot. Taste: 4/5 - It is a little bit more sweet than creamy. Menu: 5/5 - Large menu filled with unique and delicious flavours. Vegan friendly. Sustainability: 3/5 - Locally produced natural ingredients in non compostable bowls + spoons. Strengths - Sleek location with a large and tasty menu. Weaknesses - Pricey. Good items to buy: Earl Grey & Raspberry Financier, Toasted Hay & Saskatoon Berry. Summary: 4.3/5 - Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping by Made by Marcus. Even though they just opened in Edmonton I can say with confidence that they are in the top three ice-cream shops in YEG. Their delicious & unique flavours make them stand out from the competition and draw you back time and time again. The one thing I dislike is their lack of sustainable initiatives. Super excited when this Calgary import came to town. They are known for their deliciously unique ice cream flavours. One of my favourites is the malted chocolate and honey comb...rich and chocolatey but with the wonderful texture of honey comb chunks. Their soft serve is really good too...definitely check out their special sundaes and seasonal flavours. read more
Love me some Made by Marcus. I ordered the Valentine's Day cake for myself. A heart shaped lychee ice cream cake with passion fruit mousse, raspberry gelée and crispy meringue base. This was the perfect balance of not too sweet, not too tart and decadent all at once. Highly recommend. read more
Who says you can't enjoy ice cream on cold weather? not me. Ice cream is perfect for any season! My friend recommended this place after having dinner at a nearby restaurant. I was kind of hesitant to go as I stuffed my face with dinner but I'm glad we went! My sister and I shared the 2 split scoops of Duchess Earl Grey & Raspberry Financier and Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan on a waffle cone. We definitely had a good choice! we enjoyed every single bite. The Duchess had a zesty yummy taste with bits and pieces of their delicious finacier cake. Then the butter pecan, ooh so good with crunchy pecans. The sweetness of both was not overbearing just a perfect match for my palate. Not at all bad for $6 for 2 scoops. PS: The location is in a narrow street with perfect lighting in the evening so my friends and I couldn't help but to take insta photos. read more
Came on a Wednesday after lunch so there were no lines to battle with. Service was friendly and pleasant from the get-go. The worker was patient with our taste testing requests. SO many delicious options! Loved the smoked hay and saskatoon berry and also the strawberry. But ended up getting what I came for: the raspberry early grey financier which was a definite winner! Super creamy and my two favourite things in one. Wish they sold it by the pint. Will be back! read more

Made by Marcus finally opened their doors for Edmonton in June, 2019. When I and my husband went for dinner at Julio Barrio's, we decided to stop by this ice cream shop to complete our dinner with dessert. When we arrived, there was a line out of the door with average waiting of 25-30 minutes. Order: Waffle cone with a scoop of Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan and Peach Blackberry and Habanero Honestly my tastebuds didn't quite like the Peach blackberry and Habanero flavour as it was really strong for me. I liked the Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan and their in house made waffle. Review: I did not find it worth to wait in a line for this ice cream for half an hour though the prices were reasonable. But, i will definitely try again their other flavours when there is no line. read more
