Although the doc is a vegan, she would prepare the chicken for her every day and would call me to come in when she wouldn't eat so I could coax her into it. AND it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Her fees are very reasonable, the office is clean and the staff is kind and friendly. I consider them a part of my family and highly recommend their services...

When I got there, the dog, Lovely, was brought out and was absolutely adorable. I was told he had Kennel cough, and I was given a medication to take home. When I got him home, he seemed to be gasping for air and was struggling to breathe. He would not eat, drink, poop or pee and was so super skinny. As the night went on, he still wouldn't eat or drink poop or pee and at 9:00p.m,as instructed, I tried to give him his meds and he swallowed the half pill, but within minutes, he vomited it up. He still was gasping for air and was making a sound as if he was chirping like a bird. It sounded like he had very little air left in his lungs to breathe. He was trying to rest in a bed we bought for him, but couldnt because he just couldnt get enough air in his lungs. He kept looking toward the ceiling and panting so loud still making a wheezing sound. I could hear all of these very loose sounds coming from his breathing as if his lungs just weren't doing a good job of helping him to breathe. I called up the shelter at 10:30 in the evening to inform them of what had been happening since I picked him up, and the woman I spoke asked me if I wouldn't mind taking him to an animal emergency room located in Newburgh NY. I asked if I would have to pay, and she told me that I wouldn't since he was only a foster dog, and I was not responsible for him, and that CARE (the shelter name) would take care of the bill. I did as she instructed me, and when I got there, the doctor asked me what meds the dog was on. I gave her the pills which had been given to me by someone at CARE, and told her that I tried to give the dog the pill and he vomited it up. The doctor was very upset because apparently CARE did not have a doctor look at the dog, but instead used the doctor's name on the envelope as the prescriber. I found that very unusual and not very honest. Someone at CARE took it upon themselves to prescribe medication for a very sick animal, and used a doctor's prescription to administer the meds to a fostering family. The doctor at the hospital told me that the dog did not have Kennel Cough, but instead a terrible sickness, that would take several weeks for recovery. My family and I were devastated and were told to leave, and the dog's medical prognosis would be handled with CARE from that point on. We drove home in tears, with an empty bed in the backseat not knowing if the dog would live or die. We did a great favor for the dog since he was struggling so terribly and probably wouldn't have made it through the night. The next day came, and no one reached out to us to thank us for taking the dog in to the hospital, nor did anyone ask how we were as a family after what we had been through. No follow up, no emails....period. They just dropped the ball. After a full day of pain from the trauma of what had entailed that day, I sent an email asking how Lovely the dog was, and if he was ok. I got an email back telling me to never, ever contact them again, and that I was prohibited from ever adopting through them because I couldnt be trusted. What???? They talked to me as if I was a criminal and did something wrong. I probably saved that animals life because the doctor at the hospital facility t told me that what Lovely had was very serious, and he wouldn't recover for weeks. I dont know how a shelter called Compassionate Animal Rescue can call themselves compassionate, but please, please do not consider ever fostering, adopting or even boarding at this facility. They are running a very dishonest business and are working only to collect money. They are fostering very sick animals who are being transported from shelters with very very sick animals, and are placing them in homes where people may have other animals that may catch the same sickness. I dont know what I did wrong to deserve the way I was treated, but all I know is that I saved a life the other night. This place needs to either be reported, or shut down so that these animals that they are sheltering aren't suffering. Also, families need to be informed that an animal is sick so they can prepare for very expensive future medical bills. We probably will recover from what had transpired in that one day of fostering, but we will never recover from watching that poor sweet little boy suffering so much in the short time (not even one day) he spent with us. Please think again if you are considering using this shelter.

He loves nothing better than throwing off his collar and high tailing it back to his mother. Krysta became wise to him right away and developed a safety measure. And she is really nice and listens to people. I am so relieved to have found her because I am going to have an operation and be sidelined for some time . Just so glad I found her.

My family and I had been searching for a Rottweiler to adopt since our 8 year old pup just passed…read moreunexpectedly. This is the third female Rottweiler in our family. Our first passed around three, she had cancer and it was tragic. Our current Rottweiler is 4 years old now and she's our whole world. The sweetest little love bug, much like our other two. While perusing Facebook, we came across an application for a young 1 year old female Rottweiler. This Rotty had been abandoned and left outside. We have never been through the process of adopting through a shelter. Granted, we did call, and they stated we couldn't just come and pick her up and that a meeting would have to be scheduled. We filled out the application but drove almost an hour one way, to see if there's anyway we could possibly meet her. We had full knowledge and understanding that we couldn't take the dog, and that the application process needed to be fulfilled. We love Rottweilers so much, if there was any chance to just meet this beautiful girl, we wanted to see her. Again as I stated before, we're completely new to this process. When we arrived we were greeted, not very nicely, by one of the staff members. We explained our situation and asked if there was any possible way of meeting the pup. Staff was rude, unprofessional, and stated the dog needed to "rest", and that there was no possibility of even seeing her. If that's the way things are done, that's fine, and we need to respect how these shelters do business. What shocked us was the horrendous email we received after we got home. The email reprimanded us for showing up at the shelter unannounced, like we were some evil abusive people. The email brazenly stated to "NOT" contact any members of the staff because they were "upset" that we showed up. We also got yelled at for bringing our sweet Rottweiler with us. We always travel with our dog... she comes in the car with us everywhere. It was stated that bringing another dog (our dog never even got out of our car) is "NEVER" the protocol. There's no information about this anywhere on the website, nor where we ever told this until we got this nasty email. It says , "by appointment only", on their website but again, post-covid, you have no idea who's actually doing real appointments or walk-ins and if there's a chance to rescue a dog that needs help, you take it. All of their procedures sound reasonable. The fact is that the way they handled this situation was disgusting and unprofessional. A great family, who has the means and funds to rescue a dog, especially a Rottweiler that's such a difficult and misunderstood breed, was turned away and treated like trash because we didn't follow protocols that we didn't even know were in place. We were told our application wouldn't even be processed. Again, we hold no ill will to the procedures of the shelter, I'm sure they are put in place for very important reasons. But to patronize and scold a young family trying to rescue an animal is a disgusting and unprofessional way to conduct this organization. I would never discourage any individuals from adopting animals from any shelter. I am however ashamed and simply astounded at the unprofessionalism and disregard for human dignity and respect from staff members. Don't use this shelter as your first choice.

Dawg Tales takes customer service to a whole new level by providing great customer service. Another thing I noticed immediately was how calm my dog was when I picked him up. At our previous groomer my dog would be shaking so much from nerves that if he shook any harder he would have shaken his skin & fur off his body; poor thing. With Dawg Tales my furry friend comes home "Happy!" The amazing customer service combined with the fact my dog is actually happy when I get him is a true sign that these groomers take special care and treatment of my furry little friend while in their care. Quite a long time for what I had asked for, but I was happy that she was clean. I had called Pet Smart to see what their costs were for a clean and dry and they said $38 or so dollars including a nail clipping and brush. I would expect a mom and pop type place like this to be either cheaper than chain stores or at least match the effort that they put to the dogs for the price. Dawg Tales charged almost $60 and my dog still has long nails and lots of loose fur, even though when I arrived to pick her up she was still being brushed. She is also still wet behind and around her ears. They were sweet, complimented my dog and nicely washed her coat and collar from the mud, which I appreciate. But just a bit overpriced for my taste.

A follow up appointment was scheduled, on the day of the appointment, the office staff called and asked if I could give up my time slot for another family as they needed to euthanize their animal, which of course I did. No one ever called to reschedule. Fast foward, my dog has another ear infection and I called the vet to ask for a refill for the medication. I was first informed by an Office Manager, not the vet, that I would need to bring my dog back to determine if it was bacterial or yeast infection. Why would that matter since it was both last time and I was prescribed this medication? I asked to speak with a vet, someone who has medical training. I was informed someone would call me back. More than 24 hours later, no one had called. I called the office again and was informed the vet would call me back "in between appointments." Once the vet finally called back, she spit out the same rhetoric as the officer manager. I explained my dog was traumatized the first time and was not having the same procedure done twice in a two month period. Just looking to make money off poor suffering animals.

There are many vets out there who are out for your pets best interest. Also, repeat sedation is also not safe for your animals so the fact that all they continuously want to do is medicate and sedate because they have no other options to deal with animals who have any issues is not a positive. A side note that we have used Middle Hope for years and this is how they treat their patients so again their concern of best interest for the animals is only to protect themselves and not try to work with animals that have issues.. The concern that Middlehope states about giving prescription medication for was about my dogs ear and I was asking for ear drops not pills. They can say what they want to continue to defend themselves and their facility but in the end they are not for the well being of the animals. They want things only their way. They are just money grabbers trying to take over the area with their continued expansion. Trust me when I say do your homework there are many other better vets out for the well being of your family members.
