After speaking with Meredith at Middle Hope and seeing the reply .What they say and what they actually do is not out for the true concern of the animals. Remember a written response is just words. Actions speak louder than words. For those who still go there all the best luck and hope you never have any issues with them and all those who are considering think before deciding who you choose for your pets well being. There are many vets out there who are out for your pets best interest. Also, repeat sedation is also not safe for your animals so the fact that all they continuously want to do is medicate and sedate because they have no other options to deal with animals who have any issues is not a positive. A side note that we have used Middle Hope for years and this is how they treat their patients so again their concern of best interest for the animals is only to protect themselves and not try to work with animals that have issues.. The concern that Middlehope states about giving prescription medication for was about my dogs ear and I was asking for ear drops not pills. They can say what they want to continue to defend themselves and their facility but in the end they are not for the well being of the animals. They want things only their way. They are just money grabbers trying to take over the area with their continued expansion. Trust me when I say do your homework there are many other better vets out for the well being of your family members. read more

Background: This happened in the summer of 2022. I am new to the area. Due to this move and a previous vet visit, one of my cats was incredibly jumpy about what she soon realized was yet another trip in her carrier. She somehow wedged herself behind the fridge and it required two people to finally extract her. As a result, I was around 13 minutes late to my vet appointment. Middlehope Vet called me ten minutes past my appointment time to inform me that I would need to be rescheduled due to my lateness. Ten. Minutes. Now, I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm a person who's had appointments before. Never in my life have I seen anyone not allow a 15 minute grace period -- not for massages, hair or nail appointments. Not for other doctor visits. Hell, not even court appearances or road tests. Middlehope would not budge, even though my cat was already collected and in their parking lot by 13 or so minutes after my appointment time.  This says to me that they're booking so back-to-back, that it allows absolutely no wiggle room in their schedule. It's important to note that Middlehope Vet is not a cheap vet practice.  I don't mind the high cost. I've readily paid out of pocket for a rare ureteral stenting surgery when one of my cats was facing kidney failure. When it comes to my pets, cost is no object. But if you're charging Middlehope Vet prices, you need to provide either exceptional customer service or exceptional care -- ideally both. Giving your customer a ten-minute late cut-off is not exceptional customer service. And like I said, if you're booking your appointments so close together that your schedule can't allow for a ten minute lateness, are you really providing the best care and attention to each animal on your schedule? What if an appointment needs to take longer?  Anyway, if I was merely late and they tried to reschedule me, I wouldn't take the trouble to post this review. THIS is where it gets ridiculous! I was booked for two separate back-to-back cat appointments. They told me that they wouldn't see my second cat and that I needed to reschedule BOTH cats. While one cat was late, surely they both couldn't have been late? In fact, the second one was early since they wouldn't take the first appointment. Thankfully, after I stood firm, they finally took the second one to her tech appointment. There have been other little red flags with this practice. For their dental surgery, they ask for the entire quoted total to be paid upfront for the deposit. And should the surgery cost less than their quote, they refund you back. Again, cost is no object, but that makes absolutely no sense and as someone who uses pet insurance, it would make my claims process a bigger headache than it already is. The vet techs and the doctor I've seen are nice enough. But their inability to have any flexibility (especially when in the business of working with animals, which are unpredictable by nature), the high prices that they charge, AND the concerns about the scheduling tightness and what that means for quality of care turned me off from ever going back. A shame for them, as I have six cats and regularly do cat rescue where I pay out-of-pocket. read more

Money grubbing upcharging scam artists - I had Flannery hospital in Vails Gate offer a generic version of same medication that they prescribed through a pharmacy that I was paying out the nose for from Middlehope, because they sell it in house. They also refused to refill my dog's medicine without seeing her again, even though she's had the same chronic issue her whole life - the fact that they run a "luxury resort" alongside their "hospital" tells you they're just in it for the money and they'll upsell you like crazy everytime - go elsewhere! read more

Prefacing this by stating that I worked here for quite some time, so even a former employee can be subject to a complete disservice. What started with my cat spraying around my house turned into a $6,500 surgery bill because a diagnosis for the most common issue associated with male cats (urinary crystals) was missed, nearly killing my cat because his blood toxicity was so high due to a lack of urinary excretion from the crystals in his bladder. I paid over $300 for a basic check-up and urinalysis that led to a conclusion of the doctor claiming it's most likely behavioral and to get another litter box for comfort, so I did exactly that. After purchasing another litter box, like they recommended, it did not resolve, at which point I reached out and did not receive a response. Instead, I had to put him through the stress of multiple failed catheterizations and a surgery to go in and remove those stones at a different practice, because they could not fit him in at all until the next day, when he was bleeding and immobile at that moment. If I had waited any longer, his blood toxicity would have killed him. This then led to an entire week of hospitalization, surgery, pokes, and prods, because probably the most common health issue that a male cat can have (which I found out of course after the fact through a simple Google search) was not discussed as an issue at the visit. After multiple procedures, he is thankfully now okay, but with no thanks at all to MVH. After speaking with the staff at the emergency hospital, they were surprised that this was not caught sooner. In an attempt to recuperate some of the funds that I now have to pay for this entire ordeal, I reached out to MVH a few times, who refused to put any responses in writing; this led to phone tag for another few weeks, and when the conversation finally happened, apparently a "diagnosis" of "POSSIBLE cystitis" (the word "possible" of course being an arbitrary way to cover themselves for these exact types of situations) was snuck in on his chart, with zero explanation attached, as well as the prescription they gave Fig that day (the animal equivalent of Advil, which did nothing and is prescribed like candy) to cover it. Another safety net that they throw in is the "recommendation" of a million other tests/services, which of course yield a massive profit for them. After working there and having a relationship established with many of the employees, this was all met with apathy and a clear grasp on cash, and cash only. I'm now seeing why a few of my previous co-workers packed up and left as well. Money is all that runs this practice, hidden behind a facade of "pet care." Save your time, money, and sanity, and seek out a practice that stands behind the care they provide. read more

However, the technician gave it to him anyway. It's not a matter of the cost, it's a matter of communication. This was a minor slip up, but it shakes my trust in what goes on when they take my pet out of my sight for treatment. read more

I am visiting the area and needed a rabies vaccine update for my cat. I selected this practice because it was closeby and had no horrible reviews. The vet I had was Dr. Valentine. I told her that I was here for the shot but that my cat had been very picky with her food lately and might have had a fever. that was a huge mistake. The final diagnosis was maybe a mild bladder infection, after an exam, urine sample from bladder tested in house and then sent to an outside lab, an ultrasound, subcutaneous fluids, all except the in house urine test unneeded, and cruel for my cat. Oh, and food I didn't request, and medicines the cat didn't need. this Dr took advantage of me and escalated the billing to $1,300. For an exam and rabies shot(she never got the rabies shot. One thing that Dr was good for? Making money for the practice. My cat also needs dental cleaning and that money was for that when I got home. What kind of creep does something like this? I've had cats and dogs my whole life, and I've known a lot of vets. This vet went to school so she could make money, not be cause she loves animals. Dr. Biolsi and the crew at Middlehope were awesome. My 80 pound fur baby gets a bit anxious when she needs to visit the doctor, but the staff at Middlehope made her feel very comfortable, with lots of belly rubs and treats. Dr. Biolsi gave me a lot of great information to research and follow up on, and even called me after I left, leaving a very nice voicemail detailing all the OTC meds I should consider getting for my now senior dog. I've been to vets where it feels like they're just trying to pump your pet with every shot and treatment they can just to rack your bill up, but I really felt the love and concern for animals here. We normally use a vet in Manhattan, but we've now spent 3 months at our weekend house in the Hudson Valley during the pandemic and felt more comfortable getting our dog Bella treated up here rather then taking her back to the city. The folks at Middlehope were super helpful in getting Bella's medical history from our city vet, and then came and picked her up from us in their parking lot promptly at our designated time. Dr. Morris then called us in the car, was incredibly helpful with the questions she asked and the guidance she provided. And the costs for their services are significantly less than NYC. I was able to get my fur-baby in right away and instead of charging me for an emergency visit, they offered me the option to wait 1/2 hr for a regular appointment. The very best veterinary facility I have encountered in over 25 years of owning pets. Dr. Solomons has obviously created a community of pet loving employees that treat their customers' pets (as well as my beloved boxers) as if they were their own. From the moment we moved to the area and established a relationship with the clinic, they have been nothing but supportive, extraordinarily professional, and above the call of duty caring for our pets. Our boy Travis recently needed surgery of the mouth, and Dr. Solomons called us throughout that evening and literally met us at the clinic at midnight due to some possible complications. We were flabbergasted at this level of concern and care. Living so close to Middlehope Veterinary has enhanced our experience in moving to the area, and we are now certainly customers for life. read more

Having a Newfie requires constant lookout for yeast infections, ears skin, feet..Mac developed a yeast infection over the last week. Called our savior, Dr Biolsi . Once again, she fixed the problem. This Veterinary practice is the absolutely best. Every doctor will solve your pet's problems or will give excellent normal care. The staff is excellent as well. Welcoming of both pets and parents. You will never go wrong selecting this practice to care for your four legged babies.. Mac developed sores on his elbows.. calling on a Friday I received an appointment with Dr Solomon for Monday morning. With several members of his staff, he examined, treated and prescribed take home meds for Mac. They were all tremendously caring and gentle. Dr. Solomon, like the rest of his staff, cares about the parents as well as the four legged babies we bring to them for care. He made certain that I understand why Mac had the problem and what I had to do. No question is inappropriate.. as I have said before, well deserving of "Best of the Hudson Valley"!! This practice under the guidance of Dr Solomon is wonderful.. they are all so competent and caring..vets, techs and admin alike. They treat your Four legged babies as if they were their own. Middlehope is not my regular vet, but I made an appointment with them for an orthopedic injury for one of my dogs as my vet doesn't handle ortho injuries/surgeries. Dr. Solomons was wonderful and thorough, and did a complete exam of Juliet (and even found a broken tooth!) I felt like he spent quite a bit of time on my dog, which I didn't really expect because she isn't a regular patient there. Prices on some services were higher than I am used to so if you are price shopping, this may not be the vet for you. But if you are just looking for a great vet that knows his stuff, definitely recommend Middlehope. read more

I have used Middlehope Veterinary Hospital and the Pet and Play Resort for several years. The veterinarians are kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough. I have used them for regular preventative care and also for an emergency when my dog encountered a porcupine! They got us in right away and treated him quickly so that he did not have to suffer the pain longer than necessary. My dogs both board at the resort whenever we go away and they love it! They are always happy to arrive, and are extremely well cared for while there. One dog loves the play groups, while the other enjoys one-on-one time! I have taken my dog for training classes there, and Suzanne is absolutely the best! Very knowledgeable, great with the dogs and with their people. Have been going to this vet for years and have spent thousands of dollars on my 14 year old pit who passed away three weeks ago. When we chose them to cremate him I specifically asked if they take a paw print of him and they assured me yes and that I would be notified once print dried. I have called three times in last three weeks and got various answers if "I will check I don't know where they put the print" and "I will call you right back let me find it" never receiving a call back. I called again today and was finally told the truth they never took the print. This was my first dog and was closely attached to him as he has been with me since a puppy. It is so hard to lose a pet and I was so happy to know they did a paw print and was looking forward to having a last piece of my Bo just to be heart broken once again when told they never took a print. I would not recommend you trust this facility with the final days of your pets life as I would never wish this on someone. Losing a pet is like losing a piece of your heart and it's sad to hear you don't get that last bit of them that you specifically asked for. read more
