Super affordable and tasty Mexican food is a winner in my book! We decided to check this place out while shopping in Viera. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You place your order at the counter and they will bring your food to you. They have daily specials in addition to their regular menu. My son had the traditional Mexican street tacos with Al Pastor which came with rice and beans. I was in the mood for a tamale so I went with the $8 chef's special that consisted of one cheese enchilada and a pork tamale, rice and beans. The food came out fairly quick which was nice. My dish could have been a little warmer. The inside of my enchilada was not melted all the way and my tamale was lukewarm at best. The flavor was on point though. They say they have the best taco Tuesday in town so we will be back to check it out. Definitely worth a try. read more

A Fresh, Friendly Spot for good Mexican Fare I stopped by the new Flying Burro location in Viera, Florida today for the first time. It is tucked into a strip center just north of The Avenues at Viera and is easy to find with plenty of parking right out front. It's their second location in Brevard County. The original location is on South Babcock Street in Melbourne. This spot opened in late 2024. The interior feels clean and modern with polished concrete floors, booths lining the windows on the right, and about nine tables in the center. There's outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the Florida weather. There is a large mural on the wall to the left as you enter which adds to the theme. You order at the counter where the menu is displayed on the wall behind. The staff was friendly and helpful, guiding me through the options without rushing a new visitor like me. Prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. I went with the locos tacos -- soft tortillas filled with seasoned meat, crisp lettuce, and fresh tomatoes. They were messy but they definitely hit the spot. We also grabbed chips and salsa. I enjoyed them. The chips were warm, lightly salted, and perfectly crunchy with a good tasting salsa. Everything tasted fresh. Overall, Flying Burro delivers exactly what you want from a quick-casual Mexican spot: tasty food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere at a fair price. This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last. Service was excellent, food made fresh and the dining room very clean. I ordered the Carne Asada flying rice bowl and Apple Chimi to go, both were excellent. The rice bowl was filling with fresh ingredients, I would have liked a bit more flavor in the meat but that is a personal preference and not reflective of the seasoning. RE: Dine In Lunch If you know Mexican food and understand what a rare find Machaca is on a FL menu, then you'll understand this place is the REAL DEAL for bringing authentic flavors to the area! This makes it stand out as the better choice from the cookie cutter restaurants in the plaza. Even though there was a Friday Chimichanga Special for $9, I opted for the incredibly delicious (and difficult to find) Machaca + Eggs Breakfast for lunch. OMG! Shredded spicy pot roast w peppers and onions. Add some of the many hot sauces available and you have a perfect sensation of authentic Mexican flavors that hit the spot, unusual to the area. Didn't know I could have ordered sliced avocado for an upcharge till after I finished my meal, but would DEFINITELY suggest if you're a fan. When my order came out, I was given a birria quesadilla--not what I ordered, but to be fair, it was still absolutely delicious. I didn't bother sending it back because it tasted great and I wasn't in a rush. I think there may have been a language barrier at the register that caused the mix-up. The food was not great as a lot of the reviews mentioned. The little restaurant is clean. People are friendly, but I did not enjoy my food nor did my husband. I had the Hawaiian tacos. The meat was tough and chewy very small pineapple pieces. His burrito was large, but full of Food that he really didn't enjoy the steak was tough and he just picked out the rest. We did enjoy the guacamole and the chips. I'm sorry to say we will not return. There are too many other restaurants and $40 is a lot for lunch that you didn't enjoy. read more
