This is a nice diner. Nice ceilings, nice wall décor, good service and good food. I liked the fact that I could get lunch and my wife could get breakfast - 2 separate menus. I saw they had home made cinnamon rolls, so I ordered one split - my wife and I both enjoyed it. Yum! I had their Italian Beef Sandwich. It was served with au jus, and had cheese on it. It was very filling. The French fries were fresh and tasted great. My wife had their Cindy's Corned Beef Hash with 2 Eggs over Medium (you get to pick the way you want your eggs. She said she enjoyed it. Look around the place - it has an interesting kitsch going on. This isn't on the main drag of Dixon, so take a little side trip and try it out. We are in town visiting family and we went here for breakfast. It was very good. The vibe in the restaurant was open, light and fresh. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. I had orange juice, coffee, and the green omelet with ham and onions. It was very good. I wish the feta in the omelet was a little more melted to create a creamy goodness but it wasn't. Overall the omelet was good but better with a good creamy inside. The pancakes were good too. If your looking for a place to grab breakfast this would be a good choice. I would recommend to eat here. read more

My girlfriend and I were passing through Dixon on a Sunday returning home. We are not familiar with Dixon so we took to Yelp to find a place. Flynnie's had 4.5 stars with over 100 reviews... For a small city in Northern Illinois, that's crazy. So off we went. Flynnie's was easy to find, it looks like it's in a neighborhood that has seen better days, but don't let that dissuade you from going there. The parking is street parking, or at least I didn't see a lot. I did have some trouble finding a place to park, which ended up with me parking around the corner a couple of blocks away. The interior has an early 20th century look and feel. High, tin lined ceilings, large front windows, it was welcoming. When we arrived, there was a wait. There is a small shop to the side of the entrance where some homemade soaps and lotions where being sold, along with some other items. After a short wait we were shown to a table. The special for the breakfast was Corned Beef with potato pancakes. Both of us ordered it, with no regrets. It was absolutely fantastic. The Corned beef was cooked perfectly, the flavor was spot on. It was tender and faked apart as you cut it. The pancakes had a nice outer crispness to it, while the inside was soft. If I wanted to find an issue with them, I would be pressed to do so. The service was good. The staff seemed to be up to the job during this busy time. We didn't see any issues and had none ourselves. Overall, if you're in Dixon and looking for a solid breakfast. Give Flynnie's a try, you will not regret it. read more

This is my breakfast go-to everytime I'm out in Dixon to visit my partner at the local prison. Flynnie's is superb; so simple yet so tasty. The decor is fitting, welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive. The place is spacious, airy, but still offers that intimate little diner feeling. You've got to try the cinnamon rolls there they are FANTASTIC. Never judge a book by its cover...or a restaurant that looks a little suspect on the outside. The decor inside is quaint....very clean...the staff was super nice and this prime rib panini was the bomb! Never heard of such a thing but it was moist and melted like "buddah" in your mouth. I had to stop here for breakfast because I love breakfast and this place seemed like the best option in the area and looked like a small town kind of place. The place looks small from the outside but it's way bigger on the inside with a nice country vibe to it. The place had the old school lunch counter with booths/tables/chairs of the rustic wood type. There was a breakfast buffet in the process of getting set up just before 7am and by the time I left it was not ready so maybe 7:30 or 8 am its ready for service. The hi tech iPad wireless pos system really surprise me because I have been to big city places that don't have it that together, this is a small town country restaurant. Samantha would be my server and did a great job but she needed some help because the place was filling up and she was stretched. The menu had so many wonderful options but the sausage lovers sounded good which was two sausage patties with cheese, two eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast. Before she could finish the toast options she started with sourdough and I startled her with my enthusiastic sourdough shout. The food came out fast and hot and filled the whole plate,which looked good, bigger than I imagined. The two sausage patties were topped with American cheese and were at least a 1/4 pound each and as big as the two sunny side eggs that topped them, two of them and the most sausage I have ever gotten in a breakfast. My first thought was how fresh everything tasted and the sausage was definitely not commercial and most likely locally sourced. The sausage was very noticeably good with the first bite and stole the plate. The hash brown were that perfect balance of soft vs golden crispy potatoes. The eggs were tastier and fresher than my fridge and the whole plate was just great. Wow they know how put out a noticeably fresh breakfast plate and I don't remember ever thinking this about any other breakfast before. I asked Samantha who makes the sausage because it's obviously fresh made and not commercial with a nice simple seasoning. She states that all the food is fresh and nothing is frozen with the sausage made fresh from Olivers coroner market in town, all the meats are from Olivers I'm told. I also asked what did the woman at the table next to me get in the to go box even before she started on her plate in front of her, that was there famous cinnamon roll made in house she says. Well give me one of those to go also and she asked if I have ever been here before and I said no, I was just passing through so she gave me the cinnamon roll on the house which was so cool. The cinnamon roll was very fresh/soft with a nice creamy frosting that was pretty good, I can see why the next table took one to go right from the start. My whole breakfast experience was great and Samantha really made for a great start to my day. I'm really glad that I stopped here and I would definitely recommend stopping by for breakfast. read more

What a great stop this place is. Totally randomly we wandered into Flynnies looking for breakfast while on a holiday road trip. Seems breakfast was over and we got lunch menu's. The cutest breakfast diner I've ever been to! This place has a very wholesome feel to it. The walls are decorated with inspirational life quotes, makes you feel like you're at grandmas! Now onto the food... we got a bacon and mushroom omelet which was fluffy and delicious! I got the brisket which was very tender and had the perfect amount of flavor. Not on the main streets of Dixon but oh my gosh I'm so glad a friend recommended bc that salad was exactly what I was hoping for and more. You know how normally salads are lacking in small towns? Diners think tomato's, olives and iceberg lettuce is a salad‍ not Flynnie's. A great little gem of a restaurant off the main drag in Dixon. We visited during the COVID-19 shut down so we didn't get to go inside but the friendly staff assisted us with our take out order and even offered some chairs so we could sit outside and eat with our social distancing in place. The food was great, the homemade bean soup was exceptional. The burger was fresh and taste like a real homemade burger from fresh meat. Everyone thought the food was great and loved the soup of the day. Definitely need to go back when we can go inside and sit down when we are back in town. Highly recommended. read more

10 stars! Driving into town we were looking up yelp ratings and noticed this place had tons of positive reviews while most places in the area don't get reviews period. I hadn't heard of it so we didn't think too much of it. Then after our friends dramatically told us how amazing it is and how we'd absolutely love it, we were excited to go. Even with all the hype, this place still blew us away! It's ambiance is definitive of America. All walks of life gather to a spacious, high ceiling dining room which truly feels like you're in a home. Staff is consistent with the positive and uplifting signage throughout promoting family, faith and values. We were in euphoria before even receiving our food! Then when it arrived it was the complete ideal breakfast experience. I cannot wait to go back and urge anyone who hasn't been, to visit for what is an inspiring experience! read more

I was greatly disappointed by a bakery in Rock Falls. I was in the area, and was trying to find a new place to try. THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! I got a pancake and a 1/2 order of biscuits of gravy. It was an incredible amount. I would of saved some if I wasn't on the road. I wish this place was located closer to me. Everything tasted like it was made from scratch, not some Sysco preblend crap. We stopped in Dixon on a road trip. We walked around the river area for a short time, but the river was so high we couldn't walk on the river walk as we had hoped. After enjoying the fresh air for a while, we decided we needed to get some lunch. After reviewing the local restaurant Yelp reviews, we decided to find Flynnie's Diner. What a great idea that was! The restaurant was definitely out of the way, but the food was phenomenal! My husband and I ordered burgers, both of them were done to perfection and I had to force myself to not finish the rest of the burger when I was full. I definitely wanted to eat every last bite, despite the caloric debt. I love cole slaw and their cole slaw is home made and the best I can remember having in some time! My daughter ordered a club sandwich and the turkey was not any of that processed lunch meat, this was cut right from a turkey breast. Their breads are great, we had the pretzel rolls with our burgers. Yum, yum and yum. I know we'll be driving into Dixon a lot more often on our road trips!! Don't pass this place by! read more

Food is always good. Service has been getting worse! Today waited 41 minuets for simple breakfast to come after ordering. Server was non attentive and had to flag down for a drink refill. After serving food she left check on table and never returned. Upon checking out I was asked how things were. I said really slow and the response was well were so busy....
