Maple Pancake House - Relaxed atmosphere the doors like to slam though I think they need to put some cushions on them so they don't slam so hard.

It gets uncomfortably warm inside, especially by the doors. Lots of people mean the wait staff have to navigate and at two times during our meal they had to have one of my family members get up from their seat to allow someone to pass. They really need to properly accommodate the people having to wait to be seated. That's my one star deduction. That said, the food is good. The wait staff are very attentive. And it is my family's favorite breakfast place in Sterling. I have not been during the week but have to assume it's much less crowded. Enjoy!

Came here on a Saturday morning after dropping my brother off at a run. Had 3 swedish pancakes,…read moresausage links and hash browns. Pros: + Service and the operation was incredibly efficient for being in a busy breakfast rush. + The swedish pancakes were some of the best I've had in recent memory. Very fresh and stayed hot until finished. That's not very common for this dish. + Ample space in the parking lot. Establishment itself seemed well kept. + Very cost effective price wise. Cons: - While not bad, I've had better in both the hash browns and especially sausage links. This is a nit pick however and not a true problem. - Like many establishments of its kind, I wonder if the menu is too extensive. While not directly proven, it does create questions of quantity over quality dish to dish. Side note: -The restroom had a strange scent that reminded me of a bait and tackle ship right after one gets down after cleaning fish. Just an odd observation. Bottom line: If I was a local this would easily be a regular stop. the busy breakfast turnout is well deserved. Maple Pancake House completely nails classi American morning diner. A great place

Wow! What a spectacular b&b! I've never stayed in a b&b nor been to Oregon, Illinois so why not…read moreknock both out at once. Came here for a Labor Day tubing trip down the river and decided to stay the night to enjoy the hiking the following day. This b&b tried its hardest on the breakfast despite the covid precautions with packaged snacks, fruit, assorted coffee and tea. The rooms are really unique, all very spacious with their own bathrooms. And the common space is super cool. Best part are the screened in porch and exterior wrap around porch with rocking chairs. I picked this place because it looks much like my grandmothers house from the 1800s and wow was it similar. Spoke with the owner for an hour about the character and all the special features. It was so cool to learn more and appreciate her passion. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the amazing breakfast she likes to cook and stay in another room to try it out. Please come support this b&b, you won't regret it!

I loved the attention to detail in the decorations and the amenities. There was a huge DVD collection, although we didn't have time to watch a movie, if we had it definitely would've been fun to look through them all and pick one out. There were cute little chocolates in our room and I loved the fully stocked kitchen that was open 24/7 because when we got back from the wedding we all needed a late night snack! The owners were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We stayed in the Somerset room and everyone was jealous. I think it's the best room! Very ornate and old fashioned looking. The house itself was built right after the civil war. I definitely recommend this place!

Other than having to deal with a freight train that stopped on the tracks right as we were trying to get to the restaurant from the theater, and having to go way out to the west end of town to get around it, everything about our experience was superb! I'm pretty sure we were seated by the owner, who was amazing to talk to. You could tell she loved what she did and what they provide to their customers. She put us in the charge of the bartender, who brought our drinks, took our orders, and checked on us regularly throughout the meal, even though she was doing double duty. We had a large lunch, so we weren't going to eat much for dinner. As soon as I read the menu I realized I was going to have a hard time deciding, but I love cinnamon ice cream, so I knew I needed to leave enough room for dessert. I ended up ordering the grilled cheese, which came with bacon (hold the tomato), and the homemade chips as my side. Everything was delicious. I brought half of my meal home, and it was just as delicious when reheated with my air fryer a few days later. My husband had the Acres Pretzel, which was huge and yummy. (I had a bite to try it!) The cheese sauce with it was thinner than expected, but very good. We started out with a Manhattan for me and some Lena Brewing caramel pecan coffee stout for him. Mine was perfectly crafted, and I took a sip of his, which was also yummy. In addition to my cinnamon ice cream, we each had a dessert drink. He had the Chocolate Caramel Kiss, and I had the Banana Bread. Again, very yummy. The cost of all of this came to under $75, which we thought was marvelous. Coming out from the city, the prices here are definitely more reasonable and much appreciated! We have this restaurant on our radar now, so anytime we are out this way again, we will head there. We are already making plans to come out and see a show next summer, if not before that. To the owner and all the other staff, thanks for such a lovely experience! You have a wonderful establishment!
