I would highly recommend Fernando and Susana at FM Custom Cabinets! We needed to install a new kitchen and the measurements weren't standard since we were using 24 inch appliances. It was hard to find a local company to help us out with this small of a project, but Fernando's company did a great job! We found them on Yelp and called them to get a quote. We sent him a rough drawing to start with. Within a day or two, Fernando came to our property and measured the area (February 14). A couple of days later, he sent us the digital drawing of the kitchen cabinets. We went to the office and its a BIG operation! Dozens of carpenters making cabinets in a huge facility! Fernando and Susana appear to be the ones working with every customer, and their phones were ringing non-stop. They have a very busy operation and a lot going on! While we were there, we approved the design, and they started the project. We weren't too excited about the 5 weeks it would take to finish, but we weren't under a time crunch. We were able to inspect the cabinets (before paint) on March 30, and at that time we realized that they hadn't installed soft-close drawers or cabinets. I didn't realize it was an upgrade when you're ordering custom cabinets (or at least I was expecting to be asked what options I wanted) - but no one ever asked me. They offered to upgrade the cabinets for a small fee and I paid the fee. The cabinets were installed on April 2 unpainted. Unpainted was another thing I wasn't expecting, but in retrospect it makes sense that they would paint them after installation to make a built-in look. A few days later they painted and added the trim pieces. I didn't realize there would be several trips after the installation, so that made coordinating contractors a bit of a challenge. Again, a little more communication and explanation would have been nice. The job was completed on April 5. So it was about a 2 month process from beginning to end. The cabinets look great! Everything fit exactly as expected, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome! The drawers and cabinets all open and close smoothly, and the handles really make the cabinets pop. We are absolutely thrilled with the new kitchen! We are very happy with the design, attention to detail, and quality of work that FM Custom Cabinets performed. Although I wish they would have set the expectations a little more upfront, I think they are generally working with professionals who already know what to expect. Now that I know how the process works, I will definitely use them again for our next property. I recommend! read more

She was very knowledgeable an patient giving us different ideas and giving us preview of what it would look like. WARNING - DO NOT USE FM CABINETS - Writing this review is truly sad. I dealt with Fernando Maldonado when it was his fathers JM Cabinets. Spent tens of thousands in kitchen and built-ins. So went back in Oct-2020 to spend more tens of thousands for a wall unit. The unit was to be installed in Jan. 2021. Then Fernando said Feb. 2021. Then he pushed to March 12, 2021. He would not communicate unless I initiated. Frustrated I went to his office Mar. 10, 2021. He said the cabinets were at the painters and said it would be there on Friday, (tomorrow). Today he called and asked for another week as painters needed time. I asked for the address of painters to see cabinets. He said he would send to me. Then texted today admitting that cabinets were not even done, and he was trying to buy more time, and he was sorry. To recap; he took half of my money, was late 2 -months, lied about cabinets being assembled and then asked for more time. I am cancelling, and he is giving me a hard time about deposit and added cost of having removed the old unit and cost of a new cabinetmaker. read more

My husband and I have been calling for a couple months trying to reach Susana without a call back. They are very nice in person but when I got ahold of Fernando he was a dick and pretty much calling me a liar. I traveled twice from Bakersfield to LA to get my cabinets and both times they did not have my handles that I paid for in advance. I received some the second trip but not all and they stated they would mail them. I got ahold of Fernando on Monday and he stated that he would have Susana call me back Tuesday. Nothing. After months of trying to finally getting ahold of Fernando he stated that they should have gotten sent out a week after purchase. He was very unprofessional and a dick head. My cabinets are done and I'd like the rest of my handles that I paid for. I am pissed the fuck off and will never refer anyone to you. I don't want to hear any of this covid bullshit because you guys have been open. Two of my friends have purchased through you guys and my parents got their handles even through this pandemic.
