We moved into a new home in Laurel Canyon and wanted to add some cabinetry to match what we already had. I'd worked with David before and knew he could. So I called him after emailing him some pictures. He said he was sure he could match what we had. So he came out to double check, to see what we wanted and to give us a price quote. He's pretty much out the same day you talk to him, or maybe in one day. To me, that by itself is remarkable as most installers need to schedule a time days in advance. Then, at the time he comes out he gives you the price. Granted, it may be written on the back of his business card. But it's immediate. Again, with other installers we talked with they had to go back to their shop to give us a price quote, usually a few days after they came out. We changed out mind about what we wanted a bunch of times. David was able to give us a price change immediately when we told him what we wanted. Of course, my wife wanted to get other estimates. I told her to go ahead with that. That took months because aside from people taking a week or two to come out and give us an estimate, a lot of them either disappeared before giving us an estimate or after giving us an estimate, or changing their mind about doing the work. So when we finally settled on D&O out he came again, took measurements, a deposit, and returned promptly within less than his estimated turn around time to put in what he'd built. A great match. Looks like they were always there. I'll add that if you don't know exactly what you want David will tell you what you'll like. And even if you know what you want he may still tell you. Regardless, he's professional, a pleasure to work with, and provides excellent, consistent, quality workmanship - much more a craftsman than an installer. read more

Had them build some cabinets for my kitchen. The cabinets are OK but the installation was sloppy. Upon further review I found the 4 problems with the installation. 1, They reused an existing molding. That was OK but one side of the molding is installed crooked ( the 45 degree angle is lower than the matching side). 2. One molding is a quarter of an inch short and is leaving a gap between the moldings. (No effort to fill it) 3. The molding was nailed in place but the nails are showing. *Should have been set and filled). 4. While drilling an access hole in the cabinet no effort was made to drill a clean hole and it splintered as it went out the other side. Very disappointing to spend that much money and have a sloppy installation. read more

We called D&O in Nov 2015 based on the few Yelp reviews and proximity to our house. We are glad we did. David came out and had great ideas for our kitchen design. The cabinets and counter tops were custom made and installed earlier then promised. He met with our contractor to ensure everything was prepped correctly (walls, outlets etc). David really takes pride in his work. He invited us down to his shop to see the cabinets as they were being built. And most importantly, his prices were very reasonable. Based on our experience, my sister and bro-in-law,John, got their kitchen cabinets from D&O for her MB house. John, who owns a manufacturing company, commented that even if he won the lottery, he would use D&O for their dream house cabinets. We are currently using them again for 2 vanities and a walk-in closet. David can be very opinionated, but take time to listen to him, because he's usually right. Found this place using Yelp and set up an appointment with David. We were looking to build custom cabinets and floating shelves in our living room.David came fairly quickly and took all the measurements and gave us the price on the spot. We ended up going to his shop to look at the materials and custom pick out whatever we wanted. David was very accommodating and he even came out a second time to our house at our request to remeasure to make sure everything is correct. The turn around time was insanely quick. His crew with Francisco came very promptly and on time. They took their time to make sure everything was perfect and cleaned everything up as it was before. Top notch company with a great team. I hired D&O Cabinets for my entire kitchen remodel including custom cabinets in 2015. I was unhappy when the Caesarstone quartz countertops were installed because the lip around the undermount sink was done incorrectly and contrary to my request. David conceded that I had requested a different lip but refused to fix it. My $3200 hood over the stove was crookedly installed and remains crooked to this day. Most importantly, the white painted cabinets are chipping so badly after only five years that I am now having them resurfaced. Very disappointing after spending so much money on custom work. read more

Fantastic product and service. It's not every day that I get cabinets made, so I was quite the newbie. I needed a custom vanity for my bathroom remodel and they delivered at a fair price and... are you ready for this: ahead of schedule! Wow. Other places were telling me two to three months because the actual construction was going to be done overseas. D&O makes all of their cabinets on the premises, right here in LA. and they were able to deliver a gorgeous, solid maple wood vanity in five business days. Update. One the main reasons I had cabinets built was to make room for a new stackable washer and dryer when my current units failed. That time is now and they assured me that they left enough room for any new units on the market. The height they left me was 76 1/2 inches. The new units measure 79 inches. I live in Westchester and was really happy to find a local cabinet maker with his own shop nearby. When I first visited Odile in the office, I was interested in a custom double vanity for our master bathroom, and maybe a cabinet in our laundry room. David came to the house, discussed my needs, made suggestions (including a full wall of cabinets and counter with sink for the laundry) and quoted on the spot. I also asked about refinishing our dark stained kitchen cabinets and making them white. He took a good look at what we had and said it could be done, again quoting me on the spot. His prices were competitive, and seemed fair for the work, esp the kitchen. We started with the vanity, and over the course of 4 months, had all the projects completed. (The timeframe was our choice; David is very upfront and accommodating about schedule.) He and his crew were quick, clean and very pleasant to work with. The quality of workmanship on the vanity and laundry room cabinets is excellent and both rooms now look clean, contemporary and custom. It's actually a delight to do laundry which I can assure you has never been my attitude to laundry! However, the kitchen refinishing is the project that just put us "over the top" in terms of satisfaction. David had assured me that the result would be perfection, but I was initially skeptical. The cabinetry was distressed alder, with knots and scratches, with dark stain and some minor wear and tear. He transformed one cabinet door as a sample to demonstrate the results and it blew my mind. I honestly thought he'd replaced my old door with a brand-new one! Once I saw the sample, it was full steam ahead. They took the doors and drawers to the shop to refinish; then over the course of 2 and a half days, they taped and papered, prepped, sanded, primed, and sprayed the installed elements (island, molding, cabinet frames inside doors), installed new kick plates and molding, reattched the newly painted doors, and attached hardware. My kitchen was utterly transformed and looks stunning. It's like living in a magazine photo! I am so happy to have found D&O Cabinets and have no problem recommending them to anyone looking for great quality and responsive service. read more
