My experience with MidFirst Bank was extremely unprofessional and concerning from start to finish…read more During my initial visit, the branch manager (Jessica) made inappropriate comments implying potential money laundering and openly discussed another customer's situation in front of me while on the phone with her employee. She informed me that customer was in trouble for money laundering. That alone raised serious concerns about privacy and professionalism. I informed her that all of my businesses and transactions were legitimate. My account was also set up incorrectly that same day, which prevented me from accessing my funds and using Zelle for weeks. I had to file a CFPB complaint just to get the account corrected. None of the Midfirst employees knew who the president of vice president of Midfirst was. I wasn't made aware until I filed a CPFB complaint. After the issue was fixed, I asked a reasonable question (to the VP - David) about who had access to my account and requested that the same branch manager not access it due to her prior conduct. After the CPFB complaint was made, I randomly received a correspondence from the Midwest City Branch Mgr (Jessica) stating that I didn't sign forms that were required to be signed when my account was open. And I had so many days to sign the forms or my account would be closed. No information was provided as to what forms that the branch manager didn't provide me when opening my account. I met with the bank president (Chad), who was rude, aggressive, dismissive and informed me that he was more concerned as to why I opened another account than he was how his branch manager opened up an account incorrectly. He then gave me (a business major/business owner over 30 years) a lesson on business structures. And, he told me I was going the wrong direction. He initially insisted I continue dealing with the same branch manager. Only after I stated I would move my accounts elsewhere did he say we would "work together," but he never followed up. And he ignored my email and calls. Chad happens to have a sick child who he begs strangers for financial assistance for. I was a good customer who brought money into the bank. Yet, he treated me despicable. The irony. Shortly after that, a VP asked if I planned to close my account -- I clearly said no. Despite that, my account was closed anyway. After the account was closed, the bank: Charged fees on a closed account Generated an overdraft on a closed account Issued a statement after closure Removed funds from my account without a clear explanation When I filed a formal complaint, the bank responded with a generic statement saying no follow-up was warranted and failed to address any of these issues. Overall, this experience showed a lack of professionalism, transparency, and proper handling of customer accounts. I would strongly caution others to pay close attention to how their accounts are handled here. If there was nothing to hide, Midfirst would provide me with a log of who has accessed my account. Guilty as charged. This is truly the "ghetto" of banks. I have several bank accounts at different banks, to separate my accounts. Hence, why I moved most of my money from my Midfirst account once I confirmed how unprofessional and incompetent the bank was.
