At 3:10 PM, I saw the "break" sign and started waiting; I hadn't made an appointment. At 3:15, someone came out, and I asked if they could take my photo even though I didn't have an appointment. He just shook him head dismissively. He even didn't say Hi? How are you? I waited another 15 minutes. Someone else arrived, and they took that person first. Even though there was seating available, He said so rude way wait outside I wait outside no chair outside. It was the worst experience I've ever had. I wish this place would take walk-ins but I understand how appointments will help keep things more organized and efficient. What a great service! Organized, on-time, fabulously clean, neat and tidy -- and incredibly well priced. I used the fingerprinting and passport photo services, but noted the pricing for Apostilles was lower than any other provider I checked with by a great deal. The owner (?) demonstrated deep knowledge of fingerprinting processes and foreign passport photo requirements that gave me confidence in the quality of the output. The service was fast and efficient but not rushed. I have always had difficulty with fingerprints, and the owner took two sets for the price of one so that I could send both to the FBI and be sure not to be rejected. Incredible! I needed ink-rolled fingerprints and went to another office that did an awful, unprofessional job and all my fingerprint cards were rejected. At FNL, I was really impressed by Francisco, who was professional, efficient, and incredibly detail-oriented. He used a scanning machine to obtain my fingerprints electronically and then printed the fingerprints on to the cards for me--which was much more accurate than rolling my fingerprints directly on to the paper with ink. He also took the time to assess the quality of the fingerprints after printing out the cards. He re-scanned some of my fingerprints and re-printed any fingerprint cards that were not up to his standards, which I greatly appreciated. My fingerprint cards done at FNL were successfully processed by the FBI, so I highly recommend coming to FNL for all your fingerprint needs! read more

Regulatory licenses sometimes require fingerprinting and background checks from the officers of a company. I coordinated fingerprinting for 3 different officers located throughout the greater Bay Area. Francisco was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and made all of it so much easier by willing to travel. Only place in SF proper to get a quick and reliable visa/passport photo (especially if you are not American) and Livescan. They are on top of the sometimes odd photo parameters needed for certain visa/passport photos and I've never had a problem with any of them. They do require an appointment as its a one man shop but plenty of openings, and this is clearly stated on their website (and if you just go off Yelp for that you're a muppet). read more

I had to get ink rolled fingerprints for a background check. I had gone to a UPS location before that to get it done with much less success (the person forgot to sign my form and I never checked, and wasn't able to go back to that location, so I lost a bunch of money). I was amazed at the professionalism and quality that FNL provided in contrast. Francisco used a scanning device to capture my fingerprints in the same fashion as ink rolling but without the mess of ink, and then printed the captured prints onto the required cards. He took the time to verify correctness and clearly knew the correct procedure for filling the cards out. This was far above and beyond what UPS had provided me. It was super painless and even cheaper than what UPS ripped me off for. The prints were successfully processed by the FBI and I am super thankful for the excellent service provided at FNL! read more

Inquired with this business about a service via text after they couldn't take my call. The fingerprinting process is confusing and I had a question that I needed answered. They responded within a few hours, which was great, and told me to let them know if I had any further questions. But when I had a follow-up question, they never responded. Ended up using a different business that was able to be more responsive. I can't speak to their actual service - I'm sure it's fine! But I felt a little disappointed that they never got back to me. Firstly, they have a very slick and convenient online booking systems for making an appointment, which made finding a slot that works for me easy. On arrival they were very prompt, and I was helped by Francisco who was friendly, efficient and fast. I went to another place to get passport photos and regretted it. The photos were too dark (the white background somehow ended up slightly brown) and my head was at a slight angle. In addition, my head was too large - the US State Department specifies that the head has to be between 25 and 35 mm and it was 38 mm in the photo. I went to FNL to get my photos retaken and the quality was so much better. Francisco also took the time to measure and check that the printed photos match the requirements before handing them to me. If I'm going to be stuck with these passport photos for 10 years, I'd like them to be high quality. FNL is the place to go. read more

We recently had an appointment to get my mother's fingerprints done. My mother had difficulties getting clear fingerprints from elsewhere given her past burn injuries and age, and this was our 4th attempt / last resort. Francisco went above and beyond (went overtime of our allotted appointment time) to obtain the best quality possible. Our ask was originally ink-rolled method, but he suggested a live scanner as well (which turned out a bit better) and provided us both options at the end. FNL is located inside the Flood Building on the 10th floor (#1049). It's a small, unassuming office, but Francisco has all the latest tech to make his job efficient and professional. I needed ink fingerprinting on the old-school FD-258 cards for an out-of-state license application. I was impressed by the digital livescan that scans and prints ink fingerprints directly onto the FD-258 card. I had to complete two FD-258 cards, and instead of having to ink and roll all my fingers twice, I only had to do it once on the digital scanner and he just printed it twice. The software can also fill in all the data fields for you. I had filled them out in advance already, because that's what I have to do for all the other traditional ink rolling places, but that's also a nice timesaver and provides more professional results. The printed FD-258 cards look exactly as if I had done it with traditional ink. Bonus: you don't even have to wait for it to dry, it won't smear! The rolled "ink" fingerprinting was $25 per card and I also retained his notary services, which was $15. He takes credit cards via Square. His pricing is on par with other agencies, but I would definitely go to Francisco again for his professionalism, efficiency, and meticulous work. I've had to be fingerprinted about 10 times in the past 2 years and this was definitely the most pleasant experience by far. I've used FNL for fingerprinting twice and I've always had a professional, quick, and thorough service from Francisco. I truly recommend it for anyone trying to get their fingerprints done and have a hard time finding one in San Francisco. Please note that you do need to make appointments in advance, I don't think he'll allow walk-ins anymore. Booking appointments are really easy to do it online! On the day that I did my fingerprints, unfortunately the printer wasn't cooperating so I do remember that he had to cancel one of his appointments... I had a time-sensitive fingerprinting requirement to complete for licensing (ink, not digital fingerprinting) and found FNL online after the local police station told me SFPD does not do fingerprinting any longer). I was able to easily find the information I was looking for on FNL's website, and book an appointment the same day. COVID-19 protocols are in place and thoughtfully and diligently enforced and I felt very safe, as clearly the owner takes safety very seriously, with physical contact and touching of common surfaces kept to a minimum only when absolutely necessary. Disinfection and cleaning practices were observed throughout the appointment, with frequent wiping down of surfaces and hand sanitizing. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable about fingerprinting requirements and very efficient at obtaining fingerprints and in helping me fill out my paperwork. He was also able to capture my fingerprints digitally and print them on the paper fingerprint card instead of having to use actual ink, to be able to ensure the cleanest set of fingerprints were provided to avoid potential rejection. I rarely leave reviews, but I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and the professional service and the care this business takes to ensure everyone's safety while providing excellent service. read more

Came to Francisco at FNL for a passport photo for a Japan working visa application. He had a database of rules regarding photo sizes and even the head-size in millimeters vs. the overall photo. Since the instructions I had on my paperwork differed from what was in his system, he printed me 2 sets of photos, to make sure that they would be accepted by the consulate. When you get a photo that is going to be on your passport for 10 years, you want it to be a good one.
