It took 2 cvs and 2 wallgreens to finally confirm that they do not really do european format passport photos. Avoid that and go straight to FNL. I've been here twice in the last few months for photos and notary services, and plan to visit a third time today because Francisco is that good. I visited the first time to simply get a document notarized for my application to become a Belizean national. I had already visited the Belizean Consulate once already and had discovered they have very strict rules about notarized documents, but Francisco completed my notarization by the book and my document was accepted. I had originally planned to visit another notary in the same building, but when I arrived I found out that his office was closed for the week, so I went upstairs to Francisco and he managed to fit me in after one of his appointments despite the fact that it was nearing his closing time. The second time I visited, I needed a second document notarized and photos because the Belizean Consulate officials would not accept the ones I had originally taken at Walgreens. First of all, the photos came out MUCH better than the ones I took at Walgreens. Even my mom sent me a message afterward saying the photos were "on point." They were also MUCH cheaper. To top it off, one copy came out with a barely noticeable imperfection, so Francisco reprinted it and gave me the "damaged" one for free. Francisco's professionalism and pride in his work has earned him a loyal customer, which is why I'm going to be visiting again today (visa photos for another country. Thankfully the Belize application is done). Discovering his office has been an incredibly fortuitous mistake. read more

I needed the old-fashioned ink-rolled fingerprints for a state medical board license, and it was hard to find a place (most places only do live scan fingerprinting). Even the SFPD no longer provide ink fingerprinting. This guy is able to transfer the live scan prints onto the ink fingerprinting cards so you get high quality prints without the mess. I wouldn't go anywhere else. He is so professional and fast and courteous. His location is really convenient, and it was very easy to make an appointment on his website. Highly recommend. read more

I couldn't think of a better experience with a notary. I was able to make a same day appointment online on the website within a few hours of the appointment. You can do walk-ins also, but he gives priority to those with appointments.The office is located right by the Powell station, so it's super convenient if you work downtown and need to get something done during the day. The office is tiny, but everything is well-organized and clean. Francisco is extremely competent, organized, and knows what he's doing. He gets right down to business and is quick and efficient. After 10-15 minutes, I was all done and on my way. He takes credit cards payments, including Apple Pay. I'd definitely come back here for any other notary services, fingerprinting, passport photos. Reasonable prices too, at $10 for notarization, which is standard. But way more pleasant than having to go to UPS or somewhere not as efficient. Highly recommend this place! read more

I went here to get my fingerprints done for my nursing license. The confirmation email was very confusing so I called for clarification. I received no answer but immediately received a text message stating that they were busy and to respond to that. I explained my issue and got no response. I show up to my appointment and ask for a key for the restroom, the guy shows clear agitation and shakes his head even though I'm 30 minutes early to my appointment. At the time of my appointment, he asks for paperwork that I clearly don't have because the email says paper or email. He is very rude and non accommodating. I went to FNL for a live scan. It was super easy to make an appointment online. I was really impressed by how professional and smoothly everything went! They had a clever way to check my paper and id without touching them directly. They were prepared with lotion for my dry hands so my prints would show up better. I just got a live scan fingerprinting done here today for a volunteer requirement and the process was quick and painless. The owner Francisco Nakasone was friendly and responsive. I filled out the form online to make an after-hours appointment at 7pm and he responded within a few minutes to confirm the same-day appointment. I arrived a few minutes early and we got started right away. The office was small, but very clean. Francisco entered the information from my paperwork quickly and I was able to verify the accuracy of the information he was typing as the monitor was facing me. Before starting the scan, he wiped down the machine. He also wore gloves and wiped the machine down between scans to ensure clear prints. We were done in less than 20 minutes (it might have taken longer than normal because my fingers kept sliding). He was very patient with the sliding, which I'm grateful for. At the end he charged me $20 for the live scan and accepted credit card. He also gave me a printed invoice and a copy of the paperwork. I would definitely come here again for a live scan. read more

I had to get hardcard fingerprints and I was first instructed to contact the local police department - turns out, they don't do that anymore so I needed to make an appointment and the next one they had was A WEEK AWAY. In the past 1.5 years, I've had to do digital fingerprints twice. Each time, the process was slow, the machine had a lot of issues, and I just generally found the process annoying. When I needed to get my fingerprints redone, I was initially going to go back to my local UPS store but they no longer did fingerprinting. So, I found FNL. What a difference this was. Appointments were done painlessly online. We showed up, the owner was courteous and professional. There weren't any issues with the fingerprinting system, and we were out of there within 40 minutes (compared to 40 minutes per person, before). To boot, a day or two later, I realized that I had forgotten to get a receipt. I emailed them, and an hour or two later, he send over a pdf of it. Super easy. Will easily go back if I need to do fingerprinting again. read more

Okay I realize that a notary is a strange business to feel strongly about - but he is wonderful. I work in a heavily regulated industry and have needed many fingerprint cards, notarizations, and other services and he always gets it done carefully, quickly, and with an attention to detail that means I don't have to re-send important documents. Further the office is like a peaceful and well organized sanctuary allowing a brief escape from the madness of downtown. Needed to get a fingerprints livescan and found FNL via Yelp. Francisco was very welcoming and went through the process very thoroughly, making sure that my prints were good. The scan was $21, but he did say when I called beforehand, that depending on the scan, there may be extra government fees. But mine was just the $21. The process took no more than maybe 15 minutes. Very glad that it was open on Saturday and I was able to just walk in. The office was small, but very organized and clean. Francisco was also very hygenic in wearing gloves for the process and provided me hand sanitizer before I started. Tip: The entrance is right next to Anthropologie on Market Street. When you go in, you sign in at the front desk and they will direct you upstairs. His office is on the 10th floor. read more
