Be careful with the bait and switch. I called and made an appointment for contact lenses, they said with my insurance it would be $10. When I arrived and filled out some paper work I asked again, how much for the exam for contact lenses, they said $10. I sit down to start my exam, and this person tells me it will be $10 plus $105 more. Why would they waist my time and theirs? I made it very clear I was looking to get a prescription for contact lenses. read more

My husband has been seeing Dr.Arellano for many years, and followed him when he moved from LA to Fullerton to finally now settling in Orange. The staff is always very friendly, accommodating and very competent and organized! I don't mind waiting for the Mr when he has to come here because the space is comfortable and music is relaxing. Back for our yearly exams. So sad that I'm entering the presbyopia phase. :( I had to get a stronger prescription for my reading glasses as well as the hubby. I have been seeing Dr. Char since I was in high school and got to see him on this visit as he isn't in the office full-time anymore. He's so patient during the exams when trying to measure our eyesight. I love all of the new technology that is coming out to measure eye pressure and photograph the retina. This is what happens when you work in the medical device field! My first visit was close to an hour and a half long for an exam that typically never goes over 30 minutes (standard eye exam + contacts). My second visit was quick (perfect timing) but there are some really bad cons that are enough for me to look elsewhere for my next eye exam. First, after being roped into spending more for extra exams because I do care about my eye health, I discovered that I was not given my PD (pupillary distance). For the amount of money I spent, I expected this would be common practice to give me access to my complete eye health/specs. Second, I placed a contact lens order through them and a full month passed with no order update. I called back and turns out they didn't order it and they didn't bother to tell me about this. Finally, when I called about the status of my contacts, they realized that I was given a credit from a previous exam that I had overpaid for. I was never alerted that I had this credit previously! They only saw it because they went into my account to look up my contacts order. Otherwise, I would have never known. If this place works for you, that's fine. I personally would not recommend. read more

It's in an older building, but the entire interior of the office is very modern! The waiting room even has a coffee maker, TV, and an assortment of magazines. The front desk receptionist was friendly and had me sign on on an iPad- seriously, this place is modern! I was seen on time and the doctor was very knowledgable. We adjusted my prescription, and the receptionist helped me understand what my insurance benefits were when it came time to ordering some new glasses. Very glad I found this place! read more

I went in to get my eyes checked and to get a new prescription for my glasses. The receptionist was the first person to help me out, and she lead me expertly through some of the exams they had to do. She was very knowledgable about the services they offered as well as my health insurance, so she was able to guide me in making decisions. I saw Dr. Noll who was incredibly kind and helped explain what was going on with my eyes and the best way to help me with my prescription lenses. The whole appointment took less than half an hour for me (although it could be longer for others, depending on what services you ask for), and the office was very clean. My son made a pretzel out of his frames. Seriously....put some salt on them and eat 'em up. We took them back to focal point hoping they can work some magic with glue and tape. Lo and behold! They did one better. His frames were under warranty (I had no idea there was one but she said...well kids. You need a warranty. Comes with kids frames). The frames were replaced. Just like that! Dr. Arellano was excellent. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable. My whole family (including a 10 month old baby) had eye appointments, we moved through all 4 appointments like a well-oiled machine. From the receptionist intake, to the actual exam to the ordering of the eye exams everything was a great experience. The office is very new! They use up to date technology and devices. I had a fantastic experience with these people!! They were so nice and understanding. I was explained all my options and got no vague answers. It was a wonderful, comfortable environment and I didn't have to wait at all for my appointment. The receptionist who helped me was super nice and was excellent at explaining everything that was needed for each test and what it was doing. Then after the rest of the exam with the doctor she even helped me to pick out the best frames and helped me understand what all would be in my price range and how much I'd be paying with all my different options. Everyone there was genuinely dedicated to helping me have the best experience and I have to say they went above and beyond what I expected for customer service. If you're ever considering going to Focal Point for your prescription needs I do HIGHLY recommend it. Wonderful place, and I cant wait to see them again to pick up my glasses! read more

This the the worst Optometrist there is. All they care about is money and making lots of it by ripping off there clients. Do your self a favor and do not go there or you will get swindled. I went in for a eye infection because my previous optometrist moved to this location. The doctor that I went to misdiagnosed my eye infection with the wrong eye drop medicine. I had paid cash for the visit since my medical insurance was a with Kaiser and I couldn't get in on Friday. So being desperate I went to my eye doctor to get treatment. I paid $85 for the exam and $18 for the eye drops that were wrong: after 24 hours of using these drops my eye was burning and swelling. I called the doctor office to see if I could get a different medication. They asked my come in right away and said I wouldn't be charged for the visit. When I got there they told me to pay another $85 for the exam. What a scam! I have had the same optometrist for over 20 years but once she combined her practice with focal point optometry it all went down hill. I will never go here again. They have no heart and only care about profits. Did I mention this happened over the Christmas holiday. Heartless is all I can say. I would put zero stars if it was a option. read more

Dr arenallo is a very friendly and down to earth person. He's nice and easy to engage with. The staffs are nice but I realize the turnover rate is quite high. One thing I don't like is even though there're two locations, their systems are not centralized. You will have to wait for the staff to call the other location to transfer your file over. If you happen to have a new staff helping, your insurance may not even validated. One more tip in case the Tustin location doesn't pick up your phone when you're calling is to call the Fullerton location and transfer you. read more

I went to Focal Point for two pairs of glasses-reading and sunglasses, both prescription. I paid $448 EACH for the glasses, even with VSP insurance, so that's almost a thousand dollars and to me that's a lot of money. I also got an eye exam. The doctor told me that my prescription had changed quite a bit from the previous prescription (with Dr. Anderson) so the sunglasses were made with the new prescription. Only problem was, I couldn't see with the new prescription! I need to be able to see distance to drive and read street signs with my new sunglasses, but I could't, so I brought them back and asked them to remake the sunglasses with my old prescription. They were not that nice about it, and when the sunglasses came back the frames were scratched in three places. The female doctor who helped me with the original exam, the prescription, and when I brought the glasses back acted like it wasn't possible that her prescription was wrong, it must be that I'm some kind of weirdo that the glasses didn't work for me. Not that she said anything, of course, but attitude is everything and she was annoyed about the whole thing! Gee, I'm sorry that I couldn't see with your prescription, doctor! I guess it's my fault!!! VERY POOR SERVICE AND I'M NOT SURE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!! I WILL NOT BE BACK!!! read more
