I missed the best intervention time and at worst might result in losing sight permanently because of irresponsible eye examination here I just came back from my eye doctor, with the news that from eye imaging I had a severe retina detachment happening, he was surprised that I did this imaging last year also but the doctor who examined the test did not find any problem with it. That should be hard to miss given my current condition because it should be already pretty obvious last year this time and that was when the best time to do a surgery. Guess who did my eye imaging last year? I'm glad I switched to a new optometrist to do it this year and found the problem Also, I still remember they did not expose pupil distance in your eye glass prescription, unless you buy glasses from them in the same visit, which to my understanding, it's unbelievably greedy. My previous optometrist closed his office after 30 years and didn't inform his patients in time. Without a reliable optometrist to take care of my vision needs, my husband suggested that I visit Main Place Optometry. My vision is quite poor and I needed someone that has the knowledge to deal with my vision needs. Main Place Optometry is located inside of Main Place Mall in Santa Ana. It's on the first floor on the east side of the mall, adjacent to the arcade. Since it's inside of a mall, plenty of parking is available. The office itself is small but as they say, good things come in small packages! Dr. So has been working with me over the last couple of years and I have to say that it's quite knowledgeable. He doesn't hold back and he is very straight forward with his findings. He listens to what I have to say and takes that into consideration when giving me a prescription to help me get through the day. My prescription is a bit complicated and I really have to follow through and wear the glasses as prescribed. So I had two sets of glasses, one for distance and the other for reading. I found it to be easier to wear the reading glasses all day long since I need them for work and driving. Well, needless to say, that was a problem and it was quite obvious during my exam. So he gave me a single set of lenses that will take care of the issues and we'll see how it goes. Now the tricky part for me is picking out an eyeglass frame that works for me. I like oversized, borderline cat eye frames. Steve knows what I like and helps me pick them out. He'll even let me know about the size of the frame that I'll need to not make the thickness of my lenses obvious to others. Oh and I take forever to find the perfect frame, but Steve is patient and gives me his honest opinion. I must have absolute comfort with my glasses as I need to focus on my job and less on the fit of my glasses. I have to say that I really like Main Place Optometry! I still miss my previous optometrist but the staff at Main Place have helped to fill that void. I like that some staff members know me by name when I walk in. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing but I'll take it! Ahahaha!! Anyway, I highly recommend Main Place Optometry because they take great care of their customers and you don't feel like a number when you walk in. I don't doubt the service was amazing and the process of checking in and getting our eyes checked was quick and smooth. But one rotten apple can screw up the whole bunch. My boyfriend was having an issue with them sending an email for his prescription. He called once because the first email was blank and empty. The second time because he only received a receipt, and was on hold with one of the workers who claimed she had just sent the prescription email. Look, my boyfriends tone was nice, he wasn't agitated/frustrated etc. The third time he called a man answered the phone. I don't know his name, but I'm positive he was the one wearing a maroon button up, and was one of the optometrist (jimmy?). THIS IS FOR YOU, because the lady's who helped were polite and well mannered. I don't know if you were having a bad day or what, but your condescending tone was not necessary. My boyfriend explained why he was calling and instead of hearing him out, he spoke over him, asking him if he knew what a pdf was, because that's how they send their stuff. "Did you scroll up and down?" Yes we did. The email was empty. When he proceeded to open the email he realized it was indeed empty. My boyfriend is a computer engineer...and even if that wasn't the case, you have no right to talk that way to anyone as a doctor in that office. My boyfriend frustrated and offended told him to tell him the time stamps of the email. In the end, we were right the email was never sent when they said it was the second time. We heard him over the phone speaking to the worker to send it. I have been wearing glasses since I was in the fifth grade. As a kid, we made fun of four eyes, but now, it is an image or our costume or part of our profile. I would like to get Lasik Eye Surgery, but I would be missing a part of me that has been my entire life: MY EYEGLASSES. I have had many optometrist through my move with insurances and location, but I found one that I trust for the past three years. I see better and better with MainPlace Optometry at the MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana. Located on the southern section of the MainPlace Mall, you will find Dr. Ring's Main Place Optometry. While there is another competitor in the building, this location brings a personal touch to the experience. Monday through Saturday, there are Optometrist on duty to do their eye exams. The best part is on a Sunday. While other Optometrists are closed on Sunday, I can select my glasses on Sunday. You can take a look at the many various eyeglasses from Oakley's to RayBan's to Prada to many others. The experience from the phone to the visit are PAINLESS! I have had many visits to MainPlace Optometry, but they all come out with great satisfaction! I made an appointment after work since they close with the mall while others close at 5pm. Paperwork is very light if you are a 1st Time Customer. Your co-pay will vary depending on your insurance. They will talk to you about your insurance and deductible as well as what is covered. They will do the Puff of Air (Which I DISLIKE), the Vision Test, and Field Exam. I don't like the eyeball pressure test. Jim Carey ruined that with me on one of his movies.The one exam that I love is the Retinal Eye Exam (for an additional $25). It basically maps out your eye. Honestly, it looks like the sun or some creature that wants to come out from another dimension. When you are ready to select your new frames, all eyes are on you. When my wife and I came back on Sunday, Jan asked what I was looking for. I thought about the Oakley's on my previous visit. She knew what I was looking for based on the criteria. She got me RayBan's that I never thought about. It was perfect! I am leaning towards a more futuristic look and I thought it was the Oakley's. With the transition lenses, my eyes will change with the sun. That definitely makes my look more mysterious. From the day you order, it will be about 1-2 weeks to process and receive your glasses. MainPlace Optometry will call you and be ready for you to try. Dr. Deeters, Jan, and Steve have been wonderful people and great assets to MainPlace Optometry. I have had better experiences here than other locations. They get to know your style as well as make sure on what's going on in your eyes. Dr. So is the BEST!!! We missed them during Covid time since the whole mall location was closed so we tried other locations and it wasn't the same!!! The other place I went to was not accurate... sad to say that I had to go back 3 times cause my contacts and glasses was just not the right prescription! This year we HAD to come come back here cause this place is just ON POINT!!! No mistakes unlike the other places we've been to...Dr. SO is very detailed and explains everything and doesn't rush his work. The whole place is very clean, organize and the staffs are all friendly. Everyone was completely knowledgable and they found the perfect frame for my liking which was actually a sunglass frame in which I now have clear lenses in! They compared a lot for me because I am pretty particular about certain things and they didn't mind it what's so ever. Truthfully I originally went across to Lens Crafters to try on some frames but wasn't too happy with how they fit. I also didn't get a follow up but it's fine they were busy. As I was walking out I noticed this optometrist. I figured I can walk in and see what they have. As mentioned above from first greet they were there helping me in any way they can. They even gave me their own personal opinions! She also went as far as checking my insurance and found I was double covered which the second one she found was a much better deal for me! This place is awesome! My hubby's glasses broke in half (Harry Potter style), and we thought it was about time to get new ones. We stopped by two other optometry offices before finding this one -- they either didn't have many frames to choose from and/or they were booked for the next two weeks. We finally went to MainPlace Optometry without much hope, but we're so grateful that we discovered this gem. We found a frame that we really liked almost immediately despite the fact that we're usually pretty picky with our glasses. Not only that, but Steve was able to provide an eye exam right away. Once that was done, I assumed it would take another week to get the lens prescribed. But no! He said it'd be done in 30 minutes! Just wow. I was pleasantly surprised, especially since all the optometrist offices I called said it'd take 1-2 weeks to receive the fully prescribed glasses.
