It's tough to come up with a 40th birthday gift for an estranged spouse. These days, the only thing we have in common is our children, so it seemed fitting to include them somehow. In a rare moment of clarity, I found a way to get this done, give business to a worthy photographer ( ahem, and friend) at the same time. I posed the idea to Tom, to do a photo shoot of my kids as a present for my wife and his energy and enthusiasm made me immediately think I made the right choice. We discussed locations and concepts based on what I had seen of his work. Tom had some fantastic ideas and was very receptive to my own ideas. Tom feels that the comfort of the subjects is important, so we decided to do an outdoor shoot at the park in the neighborhood where they grew up. The day came and although Tom had nothing to do with the weather, I couldn't help but feel that with the most beautiful fall day I'd ever seen, Tom has an in with Mother Nature. The shoot went flawlessly. He worked great with usually difficult kids and I could tell they felt at ease. My kids are into cosplay, where they like to dress up as their favorite characters. They loved that Tom incorporated their costumes into the shoot and couldn't wait for the pictures. And what pictures they were. I've never seen my kids look so good. The shots were classy, true and fun. I am more than pleased with the results and they were a big hit with everyone who got one. Tom uses an easy method for getting you your pics. He sets up a web page where you can view all shots and order them however you wish ( mugs, cards, photos, digital, etc) . With one click, a picture will be in your hands within hours. The overall experience with Tom, was one that I can't say enough good things about. If you have the need for such services and you are in the greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area ( or even beyond- it's worth it) make sure you check Tom out. He even made me look good...and that's saying something.

He discussed with the couple and was happy to work with their plans and what they did and didn't want, and very thoughtful about the photography options with great suggestions. He was a super nice guy as well. The day of the event he was professional, very flexible in the face of lots of cooks in the kitchen, clearly knew what he was doing, and really nice to work with. He knew how to compose shots and make them look great. But most important, the pictures came out wonderful! Finally, his fee was completely reasonable and appropriate to the occasion (unlike other photographers we contacted who said they had a minimum wedding fee whether or not it was a large, standard wedding event). I would say he exceeded expectations, and made it a super comfortable low-stress process. I would 100% hire him again!

When I needed to hire a photographer for my day job, I gave Wil a call. We needed a photographer to take stock photos for use on our website and had only a week to set up the shoot involving about 40 teenagers. I recommend Wil for any kind of photography: weddings, special events, parties, and commercial photo shoots.

He asked us where we would have liked to take our photos and when we hesitated to give an answer he asked us just to think of the places that were significant to our relationship and the places we loved to go together. It was as if he knew that is what we needed to hear - and it put us immediately at ease. We had come into the situation feeling that we had to have the perfect location for these photos, thinking that was the most important thing to insure that they looked amazing. Speaking with Joe reminded us that as long as we were having fun in the photos, the love and happiness we share would come through regardless of the location. He made it extraordinarily easy for us to enjoy the process. On the day of the shoot Joe was accompanied by his wife, Amanda - they worked together seamlessly. I really appreciated having Amanda there with us, she was another creative voice and I was sure she would have told me if I had lipstick on my teeth. Everyone in our family loved the photos and we couldn't be happier with them. He really captured who we are as a couple, the way we interact with each other, and what our relationship means to us. The quality and resolution of the photos was phenomenal so we had no issues whatsoever when we had a few prints made. Joe not only e-mailed us the photos, but he uploaded them onto his website. This gave us the opportunity to share the photos with friends and family that live further away from us. We were so in awe of the entire experience and so grateful for Joe's keen eye and his ability to capture even the most fleeting of moments that we asked him to photograph our engagement party and our bridal shower. Our experience with Joe Cutalo was as close to a perfect as we could have hoped for.

Miguel and Tracey were wonderful to work with from the moment we first met them over Skype, through the day when we received our photos. They are extremely professional artists--a rare combination! Our engagement shoot was a delight. Miguel met us in a location of our choosing, made us feel at ease, and found some really creative spots to shoot. We received the photos back so quickly that we were able to use them for our save the dates, gifts to our parents, and for our thank you cards. During the planning phase, we were able to map out our photo locations, timeline, and the order for all of our formals. That planning made the day itself seamless. Although our wedding day was pretty rainy, Miguel and Tracey still found the perfect locations, moved things along quickly, and captured some incredible shots. They shot everything we wanted. Miguel has referred to them as photographer "ninjas" during weddings, and we really had no idea what he meant by that until the day off... They were absolutely everywhere! They found shots, angles and special moments that we either didn't know existed or thought would have gone by without record. That adorable moment between the flower girl and ring bearer? Got it. The group of college friends laughing in unison? Done. The crazy combinations of dancing friends and family? Oh yeah. Everything came out looking beautiful. We could not have asked for better photographers. HIGHLY recommended.

He spent a very long time pouring over photographers, looking at composition, style, lighting, ratio of candids to posed shots, quality, etc., etc. When he narrowed it down to about 6 or 7, it was very clear that Diamond Street rose to the top. Since we were planning from across the country, we talked on skype at first and they were very flexible planning an engagement shoot when we were in town for a weekend. From those shots we knew that we had made a good decision. I can't recommend Miguel and Tracey highly enough! They were absolutely amazing and professional and fun in every way!

Lindsay's talents as a photographer speak for themselves. I mean, go to her portfolio. Like ... come one. Extremely evident that this woman has mad skills. I knew from her work product and IG stalking that Lindsay was extremely talented. What I didn't know? Lindsay has an incredible knack for making people feel comfortable, at ease, and free to be themselves. My wife and I aren't really into photos lol. We don't post a whole bunch to social media and my other half in particular doesn't always enjoy being in the spotlight. Lindsay was so much fun throughout. She felt like a friend or a family member who cared as much as we did about having some good snaps of these important memories. We used Ginger Fox Photography for our engagement photos, our rehearsal party, and the wedding. It's perhaps one of the best choices we made in our vendor hiring. Lindsay is organized, meticulous, and is so obviously experienced. Sometimes we'd be like ... let's do this! And she'd be like, I like that but here are some things to think about based on what I've seen. (SO HELPFUL!) She'd listen to our ideas and always try to make it work. Inevitably on our wedding day, everyone was pretty high-stress. Between our shots she'd tell us to breathe and relax and it was incredibly helpful. She managed our family portraits (two very large and very squirrely Irish and Italian families) like a pro. When we got the photos back we were almost in tears to see how beautiful they turned out. Five stars. A+. If you are considering another photographer your search is over. Lindsay Ladd wins everything.

My wife bought me the class as a gift. The gift was a nice surprise, since I had been talking about wanting to learn more and to stop using the "auto" mode on my camera. I was afraid of the manual mode. Prior to taking the class, I researched the studio a bit, and I have to say, I was a bit skeptical since most of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. There's a reason for it: the class was excellent. The class is around 3 hours (ours went a bit longer than that) and is made up of only several people. Our class size was 5, which was nice. It allowed personal attention and removed any fear of asking questions. There is a short break in the middle, and that break essentially split the class into two 'parts': (1) a general overview of photography; and (2) how to use the manual mode. The first 'part' was a general overview of photography, equipment, and the reasons why having quality equipment results in quality pictures. Jung, our instructor, explains with great detail why the choice of equipment, namely the flash and lens, is so important. He also took several photographs in the class to show before and after results of using the flash incorrectly versus using the flash correctly. I have learned just how important lighting and a quality lens are to pictures. The second 'part' was an overview on how to take pictures and involved a light hands-on activity with the camera. Jung explained the four basic settings of manual mode. He explained: (1) what each setting does to the picture; (2) when to use each setting for the particular subject; (3) how to correctly adjust each setting; and (4) in what order to adjust each setting. He provides many small tips and tricks to avoid purchasing superfluous accessories. He also makes sure each student is using the correct settings, so no one is left behind. Jung offered several recommendations for entry/amateur-level lens and flashes. These recommendations were nice, because I know if I go to a big box store, or even many local stores, the salespeople only want to sell equipment. Jung had no ulterior motives. He was not selling anything; he just wanted his students to take better photographs. He lets you to contact him after the class to ask questions, especially regarding the purchasing of new equipment. He will provide advice not specific to one brand, which is helpful since the Internet is full of people with conflicting opinions (i.e., Canon is better.. no, wait, Nikon is better.. no, wait..). All in all, it was an excellent class, and I look forward to taking his Level 2 class sometime in the near future.

The camera I have has been both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because it has potential to help me take great photos, but it's a curse because I have no idea how to use it -- well, didn't have any idea of how to use it before this class. Now I'm well on my way! Jung taught the class and he was great. He keeps the class sizes small so that plenty of questions can be asked and he is great at explaining things. He's breaks down the process in a very logical way and you leave with a great set of foundation tools to start taking photos with your digital SLR. He is generally very knowledgeable about not only photography as it relates to taking photos, but also was in terms of being able to use and recommend equipment -- in both professional and amateur price ranges. He was able to show each student how to change the settings on their particular camera, so that was super helpful as well. I'm looking forward to practicing the techniques Jung taught by taking more photos on my own and hope to be back for the more advanced classes.
