The PAs/Doctors are okay, the organization of the office is a bit lacking. I've been a patient here for a couple years now, continuing to treat my ADHD that's held with me to adulthood. When it comes to the actual office visits, they're quick, easy, and the doctors/PAs are helpful and work with you to make sure you receive the treatment you need. If my review was to be on that and that alone, this would be a 4-5 star review. When it comes to organization, they...could improve, to put it nicely. (Perhaps their office staff should be treated for ADHD?) The first big problem is that it's pretty much impossible to get ahold of anybody after about noon on any given day, so you're stuck hoping you can call them between roughly 8:00a and 11:00a on a weekday (possibly not even every weekday, I'm not sure offhand if they're open Fridays)...and then you'll probably need to explain what you need (such as scheduling/rescheduling an appointment, etc.), who you are, etc....at least 2-3 times (I got lucky last time and only had to explain each twice). If this review was on this alone, this would be a 1-2 star review. Finally, when it comes to cost, this is billed a bit on the higher end for those without insurance (was like $80 or so last time I checked), and a missed appointment is another $85 fee [why they would charge high 'missed appointment fees' to a group of people who are by definition of the condition they have more likely to miss an appointment is another story, of course]). If this review was on this alone, this would be a 2 star review, maybe 2.5 stars (but Yelp does not let me do half stars). Adding everything together, this place is okay, but not the best. Of course, if you're insured with UHC (as I am)...and don't already have another doctor, you probably don't have much of a choice, so...good luck? read more

I would rate this experience with zero stars if I could. The MD is not accepting new patients, leaving the PAs to handle most responsibilities. With the recent changes in pharmacy policies regarding ADHD prescriptions, I find myself without medication for six days, and the office has been unhelpful in providing assistance. Additionally, this facility has stopped working with H-E-B Pharmacy, which leads to unexpected costs for H-E-B Partners. Despite my daily communication with the office, I keep encountering different representatives who are unable to resolve my issues. Calling this place a disappointment would be generous; it truly feels like a mental health nightmare. read more

To get seen and treated for adhd, it would have been close to three months-- from scheduling the first appointment to the final exam. This was essentially the process: 1) Schedule appointment almost a month out from when I called 2) Call office to ensure I can be fully assed online, they said I could 3) attend appointment virtually and get told that I will need to come into the office for a follow up Connor's test appointment as well as another separate appointment where the provider will go over the Connor's test results. 4) cancel all future appointment and find a solid provider online that can do assessment and treatment in one visit. This place is the symptom of a broken medical system, for those looking for adhd treatment with blue cross blue shield, I recommend Legion Health. I had a new patient appointment scheduled for a Friday at 9 AM and was instructed to arrive 30 minutes early. As I was leaving for the appointment, the office staff called to complete a patient screening--one I had already done a month prior. After answering their questions again, I was abruptly told they could not provide me with care. To make matters worse, they had also tried to get me to come in last minute earlier that week on Wednesday, which felt disorganized and unprofessional. Not only was this frustrating, as I was already on my way, but it also caused unnecessary delays in my care. I had waited a month for this appointment, only to be turned away at the last minute, forcing me to start the process over again with a different provider. Given my experience--and the similar complaints in other reviews--this may have been a blessing in disguise. read more

There's No transparency in out of network pricing, they didn't tell me how much the tests would chost and that insurance wouldn't cover the tests until I arrived. After rescheduling, they then charged me more for the testing than they had quoted me at the last visit. read more

Please take the time to read this review as It could save you the money, mental stress, and time. I had Mr. Ramos as my physician, He was picked because I had a hard time finding someone who can see me in person and accept my insurance, and to this day, I wonder what he tells people when they ask him why he does this for living, from my experience, it didn't feel like it was out of a desire to help people improve in behavior. Before my appointment, I had already completed a lengthy intake packet online from a link I received on messages directly from the office . But when I arrived at the office, I was told they couldn't find it . They then asked me to fill it out again, but I couldn't, because some of the questions were meant to be answered by my dad, who wasn't present with me. Understandably, I got upset and asked the receptionist if I would miss my appointment because of this issue. I even asked to reschedule and I was looked at crazy .Eventually, she allowed me to see Mr. Ramos anyway.At first, Mr. Ramos seemed understanding. I shared a lot about my concerns and my symptoms. After speaking for nearly an hour, he told me I'd need to take a test. I was confused how a computer test could tell him more than I just had . I told Mr. Ramos I don't think I'd have the time to be in and out taking test and he replied saying, you told me you have nothing going on In your life and aren't busy .The testing process itself was overwhelming. I was put in a VERYYY small, plain room with no windows or artwork honestly, it was depressing. The test was on a computer and consisted of 600 questions, some questions Mr. Ramo had already asked . Then, I was told I'd have to take another test... I decided to do it since I already spent time and money on the first one , and I thought I had to do just one more .... But I was wrong, Each costed $200. I wish I knew the steps befor starting i was frustrated and confused, and the staff and psychiatrist could clearly tell it was in my tone and body language.I was hopeful that I would finally get a diagnosis, receive the care I needed, and move forward in the next appointment But that didn't happen.What I thought would be a quick process's turned to weeks , to me this is weeks of my mental health getting worse .Mr. Ramos told me he didn't want to see me again because I had been "rude" to the staff. Which i understand I may have been rude I won't deny that but it felt like me vs the staff I did not feel seen as a client who needs help . I had to beg him to reconsider I said sorry I explained that this is why I came in, why I put time in this i was open to receiving the help. He reluctantly said he would speak with other doctors because he thought there may be more going on than just ADHD and needed a second opinion .I very much hoped this wasn't him, distancing himself and letting me go slowly as there was no upcoming appointment scheduled.Days passed. I had my dad call on my behalf because I got the impression that they didn't want to deal or see me anymore. When my dad called the receptionist answered and gave no option but to leave a message that you had to tell her so she would give to the psychiatrist, apparently he was never available to talk to clients directly.i request the results of my tests and was told I could only pick it up I was sent a link to fill out a release for which again it got lost and I was sent another link to do it again. My dad and the receptionist spoke and she said she was sending paper work to my house ?? I'm sorry why was a paper I was unaware about being sent I don't mind but what I mean is he said he would see me agian after talking to the doctors but why was I receiving mail. They gave a date which the mail would arrived and it still didn't arrive ... I called asking for REALSE forms and one lady told me I can pick them up whenever and another lady told me I had to way 1-2 weeks for me wanting my paper work to be released veryyyy unprofessional After weeks of waiting I got the mail and shocker just him saying he couldn't see me as a client this is very unprofessional on his end and I hope he can see the hurt he has caused me I don't wish this on anyone the lack of communication and neglect from someone you go to help is crazy itself . I was seeing my provider every now and then for about 2yrs and one day she decided I was "too much" for her so she decided I needed a "higher level of care" which I hesitantly accepted bc she was my psychiatrist and I didn't think my problems were so bad that she needed to pass me off to someone else, but I trusted her and was expecting some help on resources for this so called "higher level of care". She literally told me she was going to send me a list of places to go in the mail, but I never received that document even after calling for an update. Receiving TMS treatment here, and the technician is great. The office staff not so much. I am writing this review from the hallway outside the office with the technician at 7:20, waiting for someone who has a key to arrive for my 7am appointment. They also don't have a secure portal to submit documents, and ask you to send sensitive information via unsecure email or text. And this is small, but the check in form asks what time you arrive and there is no clock. I even bought a clock for them, but it was gone a couple months later. Unorganized and no communication. They set up an appointment and say if you missed the appointment they're going to charge you. We're halfway to the appointment and they have a totally different date from what they emailed me. This wasted my time and my gas. If you have an hour and 30 mins to waste, this is your place. I have worked in a medical office and when you know how long a test takes, you schedule smart. If you care about your patients time and view it as valuable, you won't waste it. You don't cram multiple in at the same time knowing a test takes over an hour. It's not a good business practice. The PAs are OK but this billing department is either incompetent or crooks. I paid out of pocket for a visit in 2021 and THEY billed my insurance in ERROR. They've proceeded to bill me for the remaining at least 5 times. I've PROVED that they've billed me in error and they've "fixed it" 5 times but I STILL receive bills for this balance (and it's not a measley copay amount either!). I'm sick of having the same conversation TWICE a year for OVER TWO YEARS NOW with no true corrective action being taken and I'm discontinuing using their services due to these issues. After waiting for a month for my daughter's appointment, signing all the required documents that they sent me, we get notified 30 minutes before her appointment that a form needs to be signed by me and her father prior to the appointment. Not a full able form that can be done online, a form you have to print and then scan to send back. After trying to get that done, we didn't meet the time limit and was told we needed to reschedule. Focus and Balance has been instrumental in helping me navigate ADHD amid the demands of my very busy school life and career. PA Key is phenomenal. I never really expect medical professionals to recall personal information about their patients, but I was pleasantly surprised that PA Key referenced and considered my time commitments when discussing my treatment strategy. She is very responsive to emails, and speaks in a way that is informative and destigmatizes the diagnosis. My only complaint is that the administrative staff can be disorganized and requires ample follow up on certain things, such as prior authorization. read more

Phone lines ring busy, or send you to a "leave a message" loop that never takes you to the voicemail. The mental health industry is a scam and this place is helping perpetuate it. My PA, Elizabeth, has been wonderful. She is kind, and I feel listened to and taken seriously. There have been a few bumps in the road with getting timely, working links for my appointments, but once I am on with the provider it's been smooth. If this review were based solely on the providers, this place would be 4-5 stars. While a lot of them are PAs, they take time to listen and genuinely care. However, the administrative side of this practice is a hot mess. Scheduling is all off, and they just generally seem quite behind. I don't know why this place has such horrible reviews. I almost didn't go after reading these! But I'm glad I did. I called ahead of time and made my appointment over the phone. The receptionist lady who answered seemed bored with her job but she didn't come off as rude. I had my appointment today. It's in the big black building on the third floor. Super low-key, kinda sketchy. When I walked in, I was shocked at how many people were in there. Mostly moms with their kids. Almost all the kids were running around and fidgeting. It made sense, being that this clinic specializes in ADHD. Honestly, if you're looking for psychiatric treatment for anything besides ADHD, go elsewhere. The receptionist gave me a packet to fill out. She was very friendly. It's true that you have to sign some forms that have strict guidelines. No alcohol, drugs, or caffiene. If you mention that you want to change doctors...you will be expelled. They won't do prior authorization, and some other things. See attached photos. (If it's illegal/unethical for me to post these pictures please tell me and I will remove them) Anyway, from what I understand there are multiple NPs that work under Dr. De Llanos. I was seen by a very sweet lady whose name escapes me. She really seemed to care about my mental health and was very down to earth. The visit went very well. Knocked off one star because they are going to try and take me off my Wellbutrin. They only prescribe it to patients that don't have anxiety. I'm going to fight to stay on it but we'll see. Horrible experience overall. I loved my initial PA Kendra Ness, saw her almost 2 years. Out of nowhere, and literally DAYS before my appt, they TEXTED me saying she was no longer w the practice. I was hesitant but saw good reviews on other doctors so I got assigned to another. Saw that PA once bc apparently it was temporary. Got assigned another dr and saw her twice then I got another TEXT mere days before saying she left the practice. I was furious, how am I supposed to trust this office when the doctors keep leaving?? I texted them back frustrated and I got no reply or phone call. I recently needed to get in contact with them for medication refills and the voice recording says the office is closed at all hours of the day. I called at 856am (they open at 8), 1156am, and 445pm. All well within business hours and the same recording said they were closed. I texted how urgent the matter is and still have not gotten a reply or phone call. Completely unprofessional, ESPECIALLY for a mental health office. My insurance stopped covering my meds early this year, the dr said they would work on the prior auth, never happened. I ran out of meds and fell into such a bad depression I was put into a psych hospital for being suicidal. How can they do something like this to people who are literally suffering? I didn't get to the point of going in to the office. I started filling out the new patient paperwork and ran far away. Their policies are very unsettling, both on a patient level and professional. Here are some of the policies I found in the paperwork... They don't fill out FMLA paperwork. They have a concerning view of drug use and drug testing. If you need an early refill order you are out of luck, even if the medication is destroyed. They will discharge a patient if they even MENTION wanting to go to another provider. SMH read more

However, Focus and Balance was the worst experience I've ever had from a medical provider. I felt like a number and not a patient. They try to shuffle you in and out as fast they can and I felt like I was more of a nuisance than a patient. They do not listen to my concerns nor questions. The PA definitely has a hands-off approach towards patients, and barely interact with them (~15 minutes) even when I had to wait MONTHS for the appointment. She was also dismissive towards me, did not listen, and had a condescending tone in our talk. The bad reviews here are true. Do not go here. read more

The doctor's & PA's are amazing. The front desk staff is completely incompetent. I show up for my scheduled appointment and they basically called me a liar. When I showed proof that I did, in fact, have an appointment for today, they just said, "okay." I then had to reschedule my appointment for the following week. You would think that people working in an office that deals with mental illness patients would have more empathy and be a little more accommodating and a little less rude. We used focused and balance for three years for my three children with ADHD and for my wife. We had numerous negative encounters with their front office regarding billing and scheduling during that time period. Each time they were pretty rude. We overlooked their poor behavior largely because it is a pain to switch providers. Today we received letters stating they are dropping all of my daughters and my wife, no explanation, nothing. Now we are scrambling to find new providers before the kids' and wife's medications run our. These people do not care at all about patients, they are horrible human beings and should not be in business. After we received the letters I looked at their BBB rating, it's an F; it's hard to get an F from BBB. If you had a similar experience with Focused and Balanced and your are a TRICARE beneficiary, I strongly recommend you use the TRICARE grievance process, these people are not worthy of treating military or their family members and should not be part of the TRICARE network. read more

This review is for the office staff, because we are happy with the NP. I signed a release for a status letter: name, diagnosis, medications taken to be sent to my minor child's school. Instead, they sent psychological test results, chart notes etc. There was extremely sensitive and protected information as I am sure you can imagine, and now a group of school staff with no privacy training has access to this info. We did receive a call from the office manager who apologized and was polite. The staff member who wrongly sent the file was terminated but we still filed a HIPAA violation complaint against Focus and Balance. read more

So here's the skinny. I've been a patient here since August 2016. Saw some not so kind reviews but I needed my meds and we were new in town and no one was taking new patients. So I call and yes they can get me in. They would have an intake person call to get all the pertinent info. Insurance and whatnot. So I wait a week and get a call. We go over everything and get me scheduled for about a month out. So now it's 3 weeks later and I get another call. They want to do my intake questions so I can get scheduled. Ummm we did that. Lo and behold nothing was put in the system. So I need to start again. This is 4 weeks from my initial call to them now. Oh and guess what? They can't get me in for another 3 weeks. So from the time I initially called to my first appoinent was 7 weeks. I was frustrated but I needed my meds ASAP. Anyway after that it has been relatively smooth sailing. Until last week. Walgreens goofed up and canceled a prescription as opposed to holding it, because I didn't need a refill yet and EVERY TIME I go in I get another scrip. I never know what's current anyway because of that. When I called Walgreens to stop the hold they told me that it had been "closed by the patient" ( Walgreens and me are cool now..so no worries there) I am OUT of my antidepressant which means I will be in withdrawals in about 24 hours. Not fun. I call and call and either get immediately disconnected or a fax machine sound. I go through this for 3 hours and decide I just need to go down there. So I do. The girl at the front desk tells me that they can't help me. They don't do refills before they're due or until my next appointment. She keeps telling me it's a controlled substance. It's ZOLOFT.. It's not a benzo or a narcotic!!! Anyway she says I'll need to wait until another appointment. So I say ok let's schedule me one ASAP. Which happens to be 9am next day. ( She was so nasty the whole time btw) fine I'll take it. Well after that ugliness I leave and call Walgreens again. Because miss sunshine and compassion says that even if I see my provider I probably won't get any medication refills. OK.. So I'm in tears with Walgreens and they did some magic and I have ZOLOFT!!! Yay Walgreens ( see? Told you we were cool) so I call the office to tell them to cancel the appointment but the phone is still not working!!! Next morning at 8am I called to cancel. They said I would have to pay an $85.00 (!!) cancelation fee because I canceled after the 24 hour mark. I said "but we didn't even make the appointment with a 24 hour window." And her response is" it's still $85.00" and promptly hung up on me. No kidding.. Hung up on me. Absolutely lacking in any kind of knowle or compassion. I looking for a new psychiatrist. And I'll be checking help reviews thoroughly. read more

Allison one of the therapist there accused me of medical neglect and called the police and CPS on us. This of course happened while I was getting my daughter evaluated at SABH after she had told me to take her there. THEN Focus and Balance dropped us as patients with no explanation except to cover their asses after what they did. Now my daughter will be seeing a new therapist soon but she is worried that cps will be called again and she is a bit anxious about seeing a new therapist after this mess. Do not go to focus and balance. They cause a mess and make unsubstantiated claims and call cps. They are a joke as far as being mental health experts. read more

This is 1 star for the office manager name Merce. That was the name she told me. I was talking to receptionist who was checking my insurance and I ask some questions on it because I was told different things from my last visit with regards to my insurance. Then abruptly the office manager comes on the line saying "stop being rude" and then said " I have been listening in on this phone call for awhile. I told her no I was not being rude and because of how she was acting and problems I am having with front desk to just cancel my appointment. Office manager is very rude, odd and unprofessional.
