I relocated to Texas earlier this year and wanted to find someone who I could place some solid confidence behind. He was able to immediately address some issues I had and has been exceptionally supportive since then. Unfortunately, his office's outdated business practices create unnecessary inconveniences for the patient. This is why I have unfortunately chosen to seek a different doctor. Specifically: - he does not accept or bill medical insurance - he does not accept debit/credit cards I've had to pay 100% visit cost in cash upfront with every visit, and then wait for his office staff to mail me a receipt with ICD9 codes for insurance claim purposes. Otherwise, I get zero credit for meeting my annual deductible. These are way too many hoops to jump through when I could just have a simple per-visit copay and let insurance cover the rest. It's a shame that Dr. Penny's office has these policies in place, because I would otherwise be a loyal long-term patient. To make matters worse, they had also tried to get me to come in last minute earlier that week on Wednesday, which felt disorganized and unprofessional. Not only was this frustrating, as I was already on my way, but it also caused unnecessary delays in my care. I had waited a month for this appointment, only to be turned away at the last minute, forcing me to start the process over again with a different provider. Given my experience--and the similar complaints in other reviews--this may have been a blessing in disguise.
