I am so grateful to have such an excellent option for an optometrist in the Pass Area. Dr. Vanguilder and her staff are exceptional. Not only are all of these locations impressively state of the art, the offices are clean and beautiful. The ophthalmic equipment options are trendy and top of the line. Her staff is wonderful to deal with. I am not only appreciative, but impressed with how they have interacted with my children. I take my children to her every year prior to the school year, to do exams and be aware of changes. I will happily continue to bring my family to the practitioner. read more

Short version: They will tell you that you have a vision problem that you don't actually have and will push you to purchase very expensive glasses which will make your vision worse. And when you try to get your records they will give you the runaround. Long version: I had never been to an eye doctor before and went in for an exam due to concerns related to other health conditions, no issues with my eyesight that I knew of. (I know now I should have seen a know ophthalmologist first, not an optometrist, which they also neglected to suggest when I made the appointment.) They told me I was far sighted and had a stigmatism and needed prescription glasses. They used pushy sales tactics and I ended up spending over $400 on one pair of glasses that made me feel dizzy when I wore them. They told me to wear them for reading and driving. I mentioned the dizziness and difficulty seeing while driving with them on but they said it's because I needed to just leave them on all the time. I later followed up with the ophthalmologist in my medical group and lo and behold I actually have 20/20 vision. I asked them to forward my records to the ophthalmologist but they never did despite my repeated requests. So I have a worthless pair of $400 glasses thanks to them. read more

Many Many mistakes and after four months still not corrected. When I ask for it to be taken care of they were Very rude! It seems money is more important than correcting a eye problem. I went to the same Doctor for years and had no problem addressing a concern with the doctor, not here! Doctor does not want to take responsibility for anything. I only went in to get my sunglasses adjusted, but the person that helped me was very helpful and extremely nice. She was was definitely aiming to please. The place is really nice and fairly upscale looking. I will definitely check them out for my next eye exam. read more

I have to agree with the staff being unprofessional in this office and the yucaipa office.. Let me say first that I have 20 years in the optical industry so I understand fully the business. The Dr, wrote a contact lens RX for a contact they do not make! I called acuvue myself prior to calling the office and she condirmed it. When I called the office, early in the am I was told that the opticion would get back to me before the end of the day!! I want into the office 2 hrs later and the girl Tammy at the front desk informed me that they do make that lens she looked it up on 1-800-contacts...Well surprize but they do not as confirmed by the opt... It is now many hours later and I still am without a RX.. Do not ask to speak to Dr.VanGuilder as that is not allowed!!! Never again there are to many other OD's out there that treat people with proper respect!!! Save yourself a headache! read more

This is by far the worst expirience I've had in regards to an optometry center. I scheduled my visit March 30th for April 27 which they said was the soonest available appointment they had, at which they told me that I would receive a call to see what my insurance covered. I came in today April 27 and never received a call. When I got here they told me my insurance only covered an eye exam and I would be eligible next month. I didnt want to drive here for nothing so I had my exam. Even though i had an apppointment they made me wait 30 min. To get a room available. I had my exam and tried asking questions about my vision in which Dr. vanGuilder was very rude answering them. I then had the dialating drops in my eyes and was asked out of the room paid for my services and was asked to wait another 45min. To be seen because no room were available. Btw the drops make you very dizzy and make your vision horrible. Im writting this review as im sitting in the waiting room.. service is horrible everyone is very rude exept for the chubby girl. Very disappointed with the customer service from this office. it seems once they take your money they stop being nice and considerate. The office "manager" angelina does not care about customer service and obviously does hold her people accountable to good customer Service. After being told my husband and I would receive our glasses in 7-10 business days I received mine although had to continuously call to see if they were ready kn the 10th business day because apparently theyweretoo busy to call and let me know. When I was confused why only had one of the2 pairs of glasses I paid for they responded they don't know but it should be in thefollowingbusiness day. Did I get a phone call? Nope and still hadn't received 3 days after that. Part of good customer service is follow through if you cannot stick to what you committed to then you should explain the situation to the customer not make them call Ur place of business constantly to find out the status of their purchase. Then they suggest I drive to theyucaipa office to pick up my glasses which makes it 16 business days later. The Beaumont office is not a place I will return to I am very disappointed with there customer service and how I became unimportant after they got my $!!!!!!! read more

I am so disappointed in this place. Would not recommend it at all. I ordered glasses on 2/7/2011 and still have not received them yet. What happened to the 7-10 days? They are putting the blame on the lab that my insurance company uses which they state is in Vegas. Stating that the glasses did not pass inspection for the 2nd time (wow! are they saying that the lab is that incompetent of doing what they are known to do?) or is this office the incompetent ones not sending off the glasses when they should have. The office will not even allow you to speak to the doctor who is the owner and for an office manager to call you back with your concerns takes at least 3 days to get back to you (WOW!). I would think that the owner would want to know what is going on with her business, especially if it is her bread and butter. Do you guys have that many complaints & mess ups that it takes 3 days to get back to a customer who is keeping you in business? Isn't this amazing customer service? Not to mention the glasses are pricey even with insurance paying a portion. You would think that the service would be more accurate and efficient. It will now be going into 4 weeks and still haven't received my glasses. I'm glad I have contacts to keep me going. Of course I could have gone to another store to get my glasses, but I figured I would try them out since they are local to me. Never again will I ever use them or recommend them to anyone. And just to know that I have a 1 year warranty on my lenses to have to deal with them if something should happen to the lenses. It would be faster for me to drive my glasses to Vegas to get repaired at the lab itself than go through this clinic. read more

Wait time to get glasses is too long, once I received them I opened the case the glasses were really dirty once cleaned there was a very noticeable scratch on both lenses. The sales associate was not helpful and gave me attitude for bringing it to their attention, after some time they took them back but only replaced one of the lenses (this is now 2 months after my initial eye exam). I will never go back to this clinic, the MD is great but the service was terrible. read more

All I can say I will never go back to place again, Very poor customer service and charging for a no show $$$$. It was a shame.... I wasn't even the pt my 9 yr old daughter was and she was the one to noticed how poorly everything was. Staff needs to get extra trained to run that modern office. Customer service was Not good at all and price was outrageous. I thought I would try out the local Optometrist here seeing how I now lived in the area, What a mistake. I should have taken the time to drive back to my optometrist in Chino where I was treated with respect and knowing that they would always take good care of me and I could have gotten Two pair of good quality glasses for the price I paid here. Very unhappy with this place and will never go there again nor recommend it. I made it completely clear to them that I only needed glasses for distance vision and had no issues reading or seeing up close. The doctor decided I should have progressive lenses so I trusted her opinion since I had not had an eye exam in many years. BIG MISTAKE. I tried the new glasses on and looking out in the distance unless I am looking Straight Ahead and Only straight head, it's clear. If I barely move my eyes, everything is blury. Plus, they are over priced and I had to wait 10 days to get the glasses!! Sending the glasses back for single vision, but of course they will not give any refund for extra cost. My check was not denied by your system. The optitiian TOLD me you would not accept any check from Wells Fargo! Do don't mislead readers to think the check was rejected by the system. It never got to the system because I handed her cash. It is petty to refuse a check. I question any practice that can't wait for a twenty dollar check to clear. Very poor customer service. I bought 2 pair of glasses, spending a lot of money, and when I went back a week later to adjust them, they scratched them. Ok, it happens. I noticed the scratch before I left, told them, and the girl didn't believe me when I said it wasn't there before. I didn't want to be rude because accidents happen, I figured I could just get new lenses since they were only 1wk old. They said sure, no problem. Well I called back 3wks later and, oh I'm sorry we have no order on file. So again I said please order me my new lenses, they said sure I will do that for you. You guesses it, I called back a month later, no lenses, again n ever ordered. I will take my $600 else where. VERY POOR management and customer service. I feel bad for the doctors, they are excellent, but their services will be forgotten due poor service. read more

My problem was actually with the Focus Vision, Yucaipa store, but I guess it's all the same with the Beaumont store too, since both stores have the same owner and provider, Dr.Tanya VanGuilder, who doesn't seem to care about her customers satisfaction, anymore than her other employees do, especially Debbie, who if you ask her a question & she doesn't like or know the answer and you don't accept her goofy, made up answer, she does what a immature person would do, and hangs up on us. On 6/10/2014 we bought some men's eye glass's at a cost of over $500.00 to us, plus what our insurance co. paid toward them too, and our salesman Andreas told us we'd get a $30.00 rebate, and gave us paperwork to fill out and send in, which we did on 6/29/2014 we waited till 7/24/2014 & no $30.00 rebate, so we went in the store and ask Andreas about it, he didn't know or understand anything about it, but agreed to help us get it, as he had originally promised to do, so we filled out the paperwork again & sent it in again and waited 8 weeks till 9/24/ 2014 & still no $30.00 rebate, so we went down to the store again & asked for Andreas, employee Debbie said Andreas was off that day, so she told my wife to fill out paperwork again & sent it in again & it would be another 8 week wait, we said ok, & waited another 8 weeks, still no word from anyone, so today 11/18/2014, I called again and asked for Andreas or Debbie, Debbie answered the phone, I went over it all again with her & what Andreas had originally promised us, she then told me Andreas doesn't work there anymore, so whatever he said to us, doesn't count anymore, so I reminded her, that she had said that very same thing to us on 9/24/,2014, but I guess according to her, that doesn't count anymore neither, needless to say, people who lie to their customers like that, will never get any good referrals, from anyone. and we'll never do business with people who treats us this way for over 5 mos. now. I truly hope this helps others from having these kinds of problems with shops like Focus Vision who's so called word means absolutely nothing. I took my fiancé to this office over two months ago for his eye exams and glasses. After his exam we looked for the glasses he wanted and were not in stock so they sent us to the Yucaipa store they were out of stock there also but they ordered them for us and we were told it would take two weeks for them to come in. Once the two weeks passed and we heard Nothing from the store I called several times to find out what was going on and noone knew what's was happening and said they would ask the Dr. To look into it another week passed and still no phone call. I continued to call and call finally my fiancé got a phone call from the doctor saying that they broke the glasses when they were trying to put the lensenes in and that they were sorry. The doctor assured us that she would get them fixed right away and fed ex them right out to us. That was over a week ago and still nothing. I called the store an asked for a tracking number and was told they were sent out standard mail and we should of gotten them by now. I have requested for a refund and am still waiting for the doctor to get back to me. I have never been to an office so unprofessional the service there is just ridiculous ..... read more
