Foggy Mountain Shop saved our vacation! We were on an Alaskan cruise departing from Seattle with Juneau as our first stop. The airline lost our luggage so we got on the cruise literally with what we had on our backs. We had 45 minutes in Juneau to shop between the gangway dropping and our first excursion. As we got closer, I called the store and asked if they could please pull a few things in our sizes so we could just quickly try on and run out. We ran to the store from the ship and the ladies handed my husband and I stacks to take straight to the fitting rooms. They took excellent care of us and we were in and out in 15 minutes with enough to get us through the rest of our trip. We got pants, socks, hiking shoes, shirts, undergarments, and belts. We're so thankful for the staff of Foggy Mountain going out of their way to help us in a pinch. read more

What a great stop for all things outdoors! We had plans for some fun adventures this week and were looking for some better equipped shoes to handle all the rain, not just while here, but back at home . The service here was phenomenal. Locked up a hill away from the tourist traffic, but close enough to walk to the port. The store was clean, organized and had everything we were looking for including sizes. They even laced my shoes for me with different laces to my comfort while we had great conversation. I didn't feel rushed or pushed to buy some other pricier items. I just left this fantastic store with a great pair of hiking shoes. I'm currently on a cruise and had several falls due to the shoes I was wearing. The gentleman (sorry I didn't get his name) helped me in selecting shoes with great grip on the bottom. The prices were reasonable and I wore my new shoes out the door. read more

Highly recommend this place! I was in town for hiking and skiing for a week. The soles of my hiking boots (that I had for 10+ years) completely disintegrated after a day in the mountains, when I went to take them off. I was shocked. I looked for a local spot where I could buy new boots, and I found this place! I'm so glad that I came here. The employees were friendly and helpful. I looked at their inventory and boots they recommended. I found a great pair of hiking boots that are super comfortable and work well! I would definitely stop back here for more gear! read more

How can you possibly mess up an outdoor clothing store? They do it well at Foggy where the store was stacked to the gills with staff - friendly on entrance and utterly aloof beyond that point. The young women running the store were more interested in entertaining themselves than doing their actual job. Foggy Mountain Shop is owned by two of the nicest people in Juneau who are working hard to continue a long established and highly successful local shop. Love this store!!! Courtney recently helped me pick out an insulated pullover that I had to replace (I burned a hole in my old favorite on a camping trip). She knew exactly what I needed and gave me good advice on sizing, which had changed on that style, and the color. Sean has helped me with two packs that I use constantly (one small daypack and a larger overnight pack). All the products have lasted (unless I burn them) and proved to be worth the money I spent, and I'm grateful for their knowledge and help. Super helpful people. These guys know the gear they are selling. They know which products will last, how they fit, and what products you might need for your next adventure. Sure the prices are a little high... Its Juneau, Alaska... You have to ship everything here, by boat or plane. I'd gladly pay a little more for the right product, and the right size. Great selection of outdoor apparel and gear. This shop has everything you need from day hiking in the rain to expeditions up on the ice field. Again, Yelp is hiding "unrecommended" reviews that are helpful and accurate. This store sells high-end outdoor gear to wealthy customers. It has a good selection of all the latest fashions. I have found the prices are very high and it is difficult getting anyone to help you (either they are busy or often seem not interested in helping customers). I'd like to shop local, but local stores need to support local shoppers, too. read more

Amazing customer service! I was just in their shop and tried on nearly every single women's hiking shoe they have. I ultimately didn't find the shoe I needed because of my weird feet, but everyone at the shop was incredibly helpful and kind. This shop seems pretty simple, a store where you can get all kinds of outdoor gear for the Alaskan Wilderness. That's what they sell, and that's what they're good for. I'm giving this two stars instead of one simply because the quality of the goods in the store is pretty top notch, but I would highly suggest going elsewhere to spend your money. If you're into poor attitudes and a general feeling of "You're not welcome here" then by all means spend hundreds of dollars getting what you could get online for cheaper, and without any attitude. read more

The variety of clothes is lame. The shoes are all ugly are on clearance online. They don't just simply carry what people actually want. They have good brands, but carry a bad selection. The staff makes you feel unwanted there and that's annoying. Sometimes I wanna literally just spend the $200 burning a hole in my pocket and always let down while in there. The customer service is horrid and the prices high. I'd understand high prices if the service was good, but the service is not. Good customer service is not telling someone in your store with a fairly simple task to "hang around: the tech has some things he needs to get done in the back." Then you ask: how long?. The response: "I don't know" with no followup and with an unsaid expectation that you'll just hang around. This is after your second trip to the store. Come on guys- I try to shop local, but you make it really hard!! read more
