The tacos tasted good but were soooo small. Paying $16 and leaving hungry is not good. I recommend making bigger tacos or if you're keep them that small, add more tacos. It looked like a child's portion of food. I'm not a big guy, so if I'm eating one of your entrees and leave hungry.... you need to look at that. This place is very overpriced and the portions are small. The guacamole is amazing but so expensive ($7) that most of the time I order without it, which is a bummer because guacamole is the best part! The management is very difficult if you have any special requests, I once ordered steak nachos and asked them to put the steak in a side container instead of on the nachos and they refused to make my order. Way overhyped. We went there and ordered a few different types of tacos. Some photos on here show the size of these tacos to scale, but most don't. These tacos are TINY -- the smallest I've ever had at a "taqueria". Seriously, these tacos are about half the size of the palm of your hand and you really have to squint to see the fillings, let alone taste them. Obviously none of us were full after our respective meals and we had to order a large quesadilla just to fill up, which again was the saddest quesadilla you could imagine outside of Taco Bell. It's one thing if this restaurant was in Brooklyn selling people on "artisanal" "free-range" "sustainable" goodness and had a number of other choices on the menu. I'd even be fine eating these tacos if they were part of an amuse bouche or tasting menu at any of the fine dining spots in the city. But at a self-described authentic taqueria in suburban NJ? Terrible TERRIBLE service! They handle way too many orders than they are capable of taking on every single time. I am a Grubhub driver and pick up from this place all the time. The young woman who works in the front handling orders is very rude and never has her mask on correctly. Every time I look in the back kitchen the other cooks are wearing their masks half off. A favorite spot for me. Menu pricing is above Chipotle. If you like heavy seasoning in your food, this is NOT your place. Food is lightly seasoned to let the basic flavors of the meal compliment each other. Looks like a family run business that just opened up this year. A little gem close to foodie town Montclair that serves authentic Mexican food in the style of Pueblo and Mexico City :) I had a craving for pork and the chef/owner made a concoction of carnitas, beans and veggies. The emphasis here seems to be on fresh ingredients for healthy meals, so the flavoring is delicate but there are plenty of sauces and salt one can add according to taste. My personal favorites on the menu are the chicken nachos and the steak alambre, both of which are absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. After having passed by the location a few times while under pre-opening construction, I saw the doors were open last week and decided to stop in to grab some lunch for my husband and myself. I was happy because there were true vegetarian options, not just an item without meat, along with plenty of meat items for him (we're a mixed marriage). I had the hibiscus tacos (had queso fresco and avocado along with cilantro in a soft shell) and he had the chicken quesadilla. The owner seems like a nice guy and while giving me samples of some of their homemade waters (one hibiscus, the other that tasted like rice pudding) explained that it's all authentic, based on what's popular right now in Mexico City. Their hard opening is the 10th so I think there's still some menu experimentation going on. We both scarfed our food down, very clean but filling. We'll certainly be stopping back. read more

The place seems relatively new, so we were pleasantly surprised with our experience, given that we didn't come across any major glitches. The food was good, prepared fresh and was prepared quickly after we ordered. The brisket tacos were yummy, and the horchata was not too sweet (which I find it is some places). The place clean, with some seating, but probably best for smaller parties of 1 to 4 people. Good service; came across as a family owned business, with attention to detail.
