I love this park! There are a teeny tiny number of spots to park inside the gate. Some people bring fishing poles or crab nets. I like to bring a towel to sit on and watch the sunset on the right side looking into the Charleston Harbour or the sun rise on the left side looking out to the marshlands before the beach. This is a dog friendly if leashed walking area overlooking the harbor and marsh. read more

They've really done a lot to this area to keep it the same yet providing safe upgrades for the community. I would spend many days growing up walking and fishing and just hanging out here. After grabbing our iced coffees from Gala, we made our way over to the Pitt Street Bridge, a hidden gem tucked away in Mount Pleasant. I've been going here for many years. A beautiful spot, a great walk, and tons to see. If you're a birder, there are beautiful ducks, herons, and egrets of different kinds. If you're a fisherman, there are mullet and fish of different kinds. I have even see bald eagles and manatees. They have also recently completed renovations so it is even nicer now than it was. It's also just a nice relaxing and scenic walk. All around a great place to visit. read more

A space that somehow evaded my attention on numerous Charleston trips, this pier was reasonably easy to get to and park at, and offers views of the sunset facing towards the city. Archetypical marshland surrounds the path. Some large ships were in view, but far enough away so as not to block visibility of anything in particular, but simply to serve as a reminder of the clash of old and natural vs modern and artificial that characterizes the region. There was a water fountain and some seating. The surrounding neighborhood is purely residential, but businesses are not far away. Shem Creek has a bit more to offer but isn't as quiet, and when choosing a view in this area there are plenty of right answers. read more

I can't believe I lived in Charleston most of my life (30+ years) without ever visiting this park/bridge! A friend told me about this amazing hidden gem in Mt. Pleasant. I went here on weekend dates and wasn't disappointed! Views are awesome in every direction with people fishing, walking, and kayaking. There's benches available, and you have plenty of space to bring a blanket or hammock. What a great spot! After breakfast, this was our first stop around town. We parked on the side of the road and walked down the path to the boardwalk. It was a quiet day, not too many folks around, beautiful weather. Cool to see the Arthur Ravenel bridge from here. Some ducks and birds hanging around, looking for food. This is a spot for fishing and it was interesting to read the limits they have on the types of fish you can catch, the size, and quantity. Couldn't believe the limit on dolphins was 10! This is a free area to visit so we love to see that! read more

An interesting walk/park, as it is a narrow strip that lets you see the marsh and waterways. No bathroom facilities (not even port-a-john) so plan before you go, but it is a different type of walk. Not as nice as say Shem Creek or the Mt Pleasant Waterfront park, but still worth a visit. read more

I went out exploring around Mount Pleasant, SC and found this neat little area. The Pitt Street Bridge is a historical landmark. Granted it has been mostly updated to make it safe for people to go and walk down. You can take in the scenery, fish, have a picnic or just go for a walk. It is pet friendly. The Pitt Street Bridge also has some great views for photos. You can see the Charleston harbor and city. There are some great views of the Ravenel Bridge and Fort Sumter. You also have an excellent view of Sullivans Island. While on the bridge I saw plenty of fish jumping. There are also plenty of birds in this area for anyone who is a bird watcher. This is a great place to go and get some good views. If you do go parking is along the side of the street with one parking spot all the way up front at the entrance to the walkway for handicap. It is also free. I will visit here again. read more

I went here tonight around sunset. I've never been here before but I've had it bookmarked on Yelp for a while. I decided today was the day to check this place out! The drive is nice and if you use directions through Yelp, you get almost all the way to where you need to be. You'll find it. Once you find the walking path, you'll notice signs directing you to not park on the left side. So park on the right side. Walk a little ways and you'll find some great scenery. There's water to either side of this little bridge that goes absolutely nowhere. The bridge literally just randomly ends in the middle of the water. I guess it's more of a pier these days. I saw tons of people walking their dogs out here. I guess the dogs really like it. There's grass around and nature and I'm sure the dogs and the people agree this is the best spot to take walks. You can see the Ravenel Bridge to one side and the Don Holt bridge to the other side. It's very pretty out here. I definitely recommend checking out this place if you're looking for somewhere to just chill or walk around for an hour and look at beautiful nature. It's a nice little park area. Hands down the best place to catch a sunset with views of the marsh + peninsula. I love the scent of salty air with a hint of pluff mud and how I get some of the most stellar nature photos here thanks to the sky + clouds. There's benches available or you can find ample space to bring a blanket or a hammock. You can also bring your kayaks and paddle boards - there's some spots where you can access the water to trek through the inlet. Some folks also fish here too! read more

Was trying to find some new places to walk through when the weather got nicer and someone mentioned this cute little bridge! Great for a grad photoshoot or any photoshoot in general golden hour here is no joke! You get to see Sullivan island, ravenel bridge and do some great bird watching. We ran into a couple that specifically made a pit stop here in Charleston just to bird watch. What a beautiful place to come hang out, have a picnic, or just sit by the water. We came here fishing last weekend and there was a lot of people out riding their bikes, having picnics, and soaking up the sun. There was a nice breeze coming off the water, so it wasn't too hot. They also allow pups, so of course we brought ours. We didn't have any problem parking and it's not a far walk at all to the actual bridge/ places to sit on a bench and hang out. Definitely recommend bringing a beach chair if you don't want to hang out on the benches. It was a great fishing spot, especially if you're looking for crabs! The views are so pretty and we will definitely have to come back for a sunset. If I'm looking to soak up the sun somewhere and I don't feel like going all the way to the beach, this is where I'll come! read more

I am embarrassed for missing out on this amazing spot for such a long time. I was invited to a get together out there for the 4th of July. I stopped by the day before to scope things out and was shocked at how cool this little park was. I knew I would definitely be back the next day. Although our group of six was meeting up with a larger group, we set up off to the side of where they all were. Even though it was the fourth, there was still plenty of space to be had. Some friends had their own fireworks plans fowled up by the shutting down of Patriots Point after a certain time so the group of 15 joined us at the park and had no problem finding space. The whole area is stunningly beautiful and you have views in literally every direction. From the "bridge" you can see IOP, Sullivans, Downtown, West Ashley and more. After the sun set, the fireworks started up. There weren't any professional fireworks here but people made their own show down in the marsh. You're not really close to any of the fireworks but you can see them all. It was crazy to see somewhere between 6 and 8 full on fireworks displays in all different directions. The only downfalls is that parking is really tough because it's just a residential neighborhood and if you're out there for quite a while, as we all were for the fourth, there are NO bathrooms ANYWHERE! Not event if you walk all the way back to the front... there are no stores nearby or anything. Otherwise... best fourth ever! read more

This is a beautiful spot to walk, kayak, fish, picnic, have a romantic drink, watch the sunset over the Charleston Harbor and basically escape life. Located in the Old Mount Pleasant, this park is situated in the heart of residential homes. The park itself is long and narrow and no cars are allowed on the sidewalk or grassy knolls. There are a number of spots to launch a kayak into the marsh or harbor and little fishing spots right off the bridge. In the distance you can see Sullivan's Island and the Cooper River Bridge. This park is just a few miles off of Coleman Blvd and 3 miles from Sullivan's Island. If you come by, stop at the Old Pitt Street Pharmacy for a milk shake. This is one of the nicest quiet places in all of Mount Pleasant. read more

My favorite new place to walk. I came to the little island park by myself and watched the sun set right into the marsh, it was stunning. There's plenty of dog friends. I got a parking spot no problem, but as I was leaving there was just a line of cars on the road. Be prepared to just pull up in a neighborhood and there's just a bridge to walk. Perfect at sunset and for pictures of the marsh. I suggest bringing a blanket and a nice camera. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Looking for a fabulous scenic view, then head to the Pitt Street Bridge. Hidden in Old Mount Pleasant, it is easy to get to (Google it), and just park on the side. Then you can get out and enjoy the open air, the sun, the view and just relax. There are always others here too, walkers, joggers, dog walkers, bike cyclists, and all. We enjoy coming here to walk outside in our beautiful low country, and you can see so much here. There are a few benches to sit and enjoy, or just bring your own chair. To one side you get the view of Charleston harbor, and see the bridge in the distant. The other side is all coastal marsh with the marsh grass standing tall in the wind and the pluff mud down below. There is also a fishing pier at the end for all, it almost goes right to the waterway. We usually end up taking pics, every time we come here. The best time is around sunset, so bring your phone/camera. We love the Low Country, so come enjoy! read more

This is a beautiful place to come for a walk, run, or to just enjoy the scenery. I came upon this unintentionally, but had heard about it from many fellow Yelpers. Several benches line the walk so that you can sit and enjoy a book, take some pictures, or just watch the wildlife. Parking is a little limited, but I had no problem finding a spot. This is definitely part of Mt Pleasant that should be enjoyed by anyone who loves the outdoors, nature, and walking / running. The marsh is full of wildlife, boats, sunsets, sunrises, or just the people out there fishing for dinner. read more

This bridge is on my Tues/Thursday morning running route with my run club. It's a great place to run or walk your dog, as it is well lit, populated, and obviously very beautiful. Great place for a casual walk and/or run. Typically will walk from Alhambra Hall to Pitt st Bridge and back, which is about 2 miles. Also good place to walk your dog, fish from the bridge and have seen lots of folks enjoy a picnic there. It's normally pretty busy from 5-8 on weekdays and consistently busy on the weekends. Looking for a relaxing place to walk in the busy Charleston area? The Pitt Street Bridge is such a quiet gem in Mount Pleasant's Old Village. I love taking a drive over there and seeing all the adorable homes. My only suggestion is to watch every street and alley; the kids who live there will literally ride their bikes into the middle of street and do not pay attention to traffic. Once you get to the bridge, you can park on the right side of the road for free and walk up to the water. The bridge used to connect Mt P with Sullivan's but is now a great fishing pier (I love seeing the giant blue crabs people catch) and a perfect picnic spot. read more

The Pitt Street Recreation Area is a beautiful park, encompassing a long pedestrian-only path through a grassy, palm-lined area and onto half of the location of the former Pitt Street Bridge. Tidal flats and a large salt marsh lie on each side of the park, and the West side overlooks Charleston Harbor and the city. People are walking, jogging, biking, walking dogs, fishing, resting on the many benches, and just generally enjoying the beautiful location. It's a wonderful place to watch the sunset, and, as Deb B. said, it's also a great place for birdwatching. I will be sure to visit again any time I'm in the Charleston area! read more
